I have multiple fibroadenoma on my body, on my leg and on my hands, Does fibroadenoma causes cancer.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. So far as I understand, fibroadenomas are usually benign and rarely get cancerous. You may consult a surgeon should it pain or is bothering you somehow. Simultaneously, do follow a streamlined and balanced diet (preferably Mediterranean) & regular lifestyle with due emphasis on regular exercise, stress reduction and relaxation. You can use fresh turmeric, black cumin seeds, fennel & garlic (1 clove daily) freely in your diet. Also, consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. Especially, vegetables & fruits rich in carotenoids, vitamin C & vitamin B12 are known to help in this condition. Also, apples, broccoli, and cabbage contain glucaric acid which is closely similar to calcium D-glucarate that helps clearing out toxins and excess hormones out of the body that is likely to increase the risk of hormone dependent growths like fibroadenomas. Try avoiding tea, coffee, carbonated soft drinks, dairy products including chocolates, alcohol, greasy, sugary and other high calorie food stuff including fast foods etc all. Green tea is an exception though. Stay well hydrated and have at least 8 - 10 glasses of clear fluids through out the day. Hope this helps. Take care and all the very best.

Common Symptoms of Breast Cancer

Common Symptoms of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is a type of a cancerous infection that develops in the skin cells of the breast. This condition is more commonly diagnosed after you have skin cancer and is more common in women than men. There are certain signs to identify this disease, which are as follows.

1. Breast lumps - Lumps are patches of skin that occur due to the thickening and swelling of the skin. Breast lumps is a very common phenomenon for women but that does not always lead to a breast cancer; however, frequent and reoccurring instances of the same increases the risk of breast cancer. A breast lump is easily identifiable through the naked eye as it looks different from the surrounding tissues.

2. Blood discharges - The nipple is one of the most sensitive areas in the human body. In case of women, it is meant to emit milk during pregnancy, in order to feed the infant externally. A probable symptom of breast cancer can also be a frequent discharge of blood from the nipple without any visible damage or injury.

3. Breast changes - If you are experiencing any visible changes in the size, appearance or shape of the breast, then it is an indicative sign that you may have breast cancer. Thus, it is of paramount importance that you observe, touch and physically examine your breast regularly for changes. If there is any major change detected then it is advisable to consult a doctor.

4. Inverted nipple - The tip of the nipple is generally bulging and pointing outwards both in cases of men and women. But sometimes the tip of the nipple is pushed inside due to excessive suction caused by the skin tissues present inside the breast around the nipple area. This suction forces the nipple to grow inwards which is abnormal and might harm the breast and skin in various ways.

However, apart from these main symptoms, some other signs are also there that increase your chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer. They are redness or pitting of the skin over your breast like an orange, peeling or scaling of the pigmented area around the nipple, dimpling of the skin on the breasts, and such others.

'Consult'.

I have best cancer which I got operated. Now because of operation I got my hand swallow. How can I get cure for that. Pl help me.

Dear mam , breast cancer patients, post surgery may develop lymphodema or swelling of limb. One has to do regular exercises of arm as advised by physiotherapists to overcome this. Apart from this you may need to wear arm stockings for a long periods. Generally cancer hospitals do have lymphodema clinics to assist in exercises and if needed they can use lymphodema pumps mobilise the lymph and reduce swelling.

Is it necessary to go for chemotherapy before I go for bone marrow transplant. I went for chemotherapy around 2 years back but the symptoms of cancer seem to have returned so my doctor advised me to go for a transplant. So I just want to know whether I need to go for chemotherapy again before the transplant or not.

Trust your doctors. If they are advising BMT-Bone Marrow Transplant then obviously they are not satisfied with the result- as you have recurred. You are young so they want to give you the best.

Today is the WORLD CANCER DAY and the theme of this year is "We can, I can".... Yes we all can battle the cancer. But the irony is that majority of women ignore early signs and symptoms of cancer and do not consult doctors in time. And even some of these cancers are preventable if proper action is taken.

Ovarian Cancer-

  • What will you do if you feel gaseous distension (gas, bloating), acidity, constipation, change in bowel habit, decreased appetite, feeling of full stomach, weight loss and abdominal swellling? Majority of the women ignore these symptoms and take antacids before it is too late. But these are often symptoms of early ovarian cancer and thus if you ignore these symptoms, you are harming yourself. Ovarian cancer is difficult to treat if detected at late stage. But in early stage, it is curable. So, don't ignore these symptoms.
  • Who are the women at risk of ovarian cancer- women who are not having baby, who themselves or close relatives (sister/ mother/ daughter) had history of cancer in breast/ ovary/ bowel/ uterus etc. But some women are at lower risk like those using Oral Contraceptive Pills- OCP(- the birth control pills can reduce the risk by 50%) and who had tubal ligation (permanent family lanning methods).
  • If you had such risk factors, you must not avoid any such above mentioned symptoms. Rather you should consult gynecologist early. Ovarian cancer can be detected by ultrasound, CT scan, some blood tests (CA 125) and some cases biopsy may be needed. And remember, majority of the ovarian diseases are NOT cancer but you must be sure that it's not cancer causing your problem.
  • If ovarian cancer is diagnosed, the treatment is surgery (to be done by expert personnels) and most of the women need chemotherapy.
  • Ovarian cancer is common in elderly women but it can afect younger women also. So, all the women should take care of the above mentioned symptoms

Cancer of Cervix: Cervix is the mouth of the terus. In our country, this is the COMMONEST CANCER in GYNAECOLOGY affecting women whereas it is uncommon in the Western countries. The irony is that women die of this disease whereas it is TOTALLY PREVENTABLE

  • It is caused by a virus (human papilloma virus- HPV) that is sexually transmitted (so afects sexually active women). But it has a peculiar feature that before cancer actually occurs, there is precancerous stage- when the cells of cervix shows some changes that we can detect and treat. So, if women regularly consult doctor (WHEN THEY DO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS), we can check if she is at risk of cervical cancer or not, by some simple tests (Pap Smear, HPV testing etc). Is such changes are found (that is not cancer) we can treat her so that she does not develop cancer. These method of detection, before disease occurs or before an individual feels that she is having disease, is called "Screening".
  • Another method of preventing it is vaccination of HPV, that should be given to the adolescent girls before they become sexually active. Even it can be given in older women (who are sexually active), although the response is somehow lower than if given at early age. But vaccination is not alternative to screening. SO, both screening and vaccination should be done to prevent this cancer.
  • Even if detected at early stage, it is totally curable. So, women should not ignore symptoms of excessive vaginal discharge (remember, all excessive discharges are not due to cancer), abnormal or heavy menstrual bleeding, bleeding occuring unredictably in between menstrualtion, bleeding after intercourse etc.
  • It is treated by surgery and some cases may need radiation also.

Cancer of uterus

  • Cancer of uterus is common after 50 years of age (although can occur at early years also). It is the commonest gynaecological cancer in the Western World. It mainly occurs in women who are obese (excessive weight), having diabetes or hypertension (high blood pressure), not having any baby, who are having personal or family history of cancer in uterus/ breast/ ovary/ bowel.
  • It can be prevented by taking OCP (birth control pils) and controlling weight. In many cases, it is also preceeded by some precancerous changes (hyperplasia) that can be detected by ultrasonography and if needed small biopsy procedure.
  • The common symptoms are abnormal heavy bleeding and bleeding after attaining menopause (after totall stoppage of menses). So, any abnormal menstrual bleeding must be properly investigated.
  • It is usually well curable if treated early- by surgery and in few cases, may need radiation, chemo or hormone therapy.

Cancer of Vulva: The external genitalia of female is known as vulva. Cancer in vulva is relatively uncommon but still it can happen, especially those who are having diabetes, HIV positive or those having poor hygiene.

  • Never ignore any symptoms of excessive itching in your private parts. It may be the early symptom of vulval cancer. Some cases, patient may have ulcer or tumour or bleeding.
  • It can be detected easily by examination by doctor and then taking biopsy. It is treated well with surgery and some cases, radiation may be needed.

Sumary: Majority of the gynaecological cacers are preventable. They can be diagnosed early if women consult doctor at early stage. Majority of them respond to treatment.

Dear, If it is painful it is unlikely cancer and may be infection. If after a course of antibiotics it foes not suppress you should definitely go for Timor analysis. A fine needle aspiration testis advised in that case. If there is any positivity on FNAC then we can go for further management.

What is the problem ofcanser and what are the causes for this and how can we care about this? Please give required answer for above this and what arep the causes of blood cancer and what is the solution for this? Please give sufficient answer?

DNB, MBBS

Cancer is generally caused by abnormal uncontrolled growth of cells usually triggered by some carcinogens like tobacco alcohol pollution pesticides radiation exposure industrial affluent etc the cells become autonomous and uncontrolled and grow uncontrolled. We must avoid carcinogens and consume healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Blood cancer is caused by abnormal uncontrolled proliferation of one of the components of blood, mostly due to change in genes. Treatment is done by chemotherapy.

Dear, in this case uterous along woth both ovaries and fallopian tubes needed to be removed. This should be followed by pet scan to rule out outside pelvic metastasis. If pet is normal you have to undergo radiation therapy which is by twle aswel as brachy. If you wish you can discuss.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help for your sister. Well, from a diet standpoint, I would advise in general a low glycemic, low fat, fibre rich, antioxidant rich, deeply pigmented foods including amla, carrot, broccoli, spinach, tomato, apple, peach, strawberry, cranberry, sweet potato, red cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, red and purple grapes, berries, red bell pepper, whole grains etc. All. What will be the process of treatment for a patient who has just overcome from the first stage of cancer?

Ex Sen.V.Surgeon/Research Scientist, M.D.(Alternative Medicine/tibetan/chinese/acupuncture), Vaida/ Unani, Homeopath
Unani Specialist, Moga
Hi treatment cancer;;-- you may need 4-6 doctors/experts to cure a cancer, at different stages 1- surgery may be required in advanced stage cases. 2-radiology may be of some help as supportive therapy till patient is able to tolerate. 3-i do not recommend chemo-therapy-as its side effects are irreversible. So better it should be avoided. 4-symptomatic therapy--is very helpful alongwith as supportive therapy. It includes ayurvedic/ homeopathic/ herbal etc-glucose, blood, vitamines, fluids etc, pain killers, anti inflammatory drugs etc, 5-tibetan therapy--medicine -cancero -is the best available so for, little cheaper, 100%--results with no side effects. It can be used both as preventive as well as curative in all types of cancers/ tumors. It can be used alone or in combination with other therapies. --so a combination of all may be required for final

I had lump on 6th of Aug Upto negative on 16 Sept Usg reveals left ovarian hypoechoic cyst measuring about 5 cm with increased endometrial thickness Dr. prescribed duphaston for three days And advice to repeat upto after few days Is it a pregnancy or a delayed period because of ovarian cyst.

I had lump on 6th of Aug
Upto negative on 16 Sept Usg reveals left ovarian hypoechoic cyst measuring about 5 cm with ...
Increased and continuous production of oestrogens causes endometrial hyperplasia. And sudden stoppage of oestrogen formation & release caused endometrial shedding resulting into menses. After ovulation, if pregnancy does not occur, there is sudden decrease in synthesis & release of oestrogens and progesterone which causes menses. If pregnancy is settles, progesterone continues to be made by chorionic membranes and pregnancy is maintained by progesterone. In your case, ovarian tissue has overgrown as cyst and there is no ovulation, no progesterone but only continuous synthesis and release of oestrogen hormone with or without enhanced androgen production. So it is a delayed period because of ovarian cyst. You should take 5-6 course of contraceptive pills to regularize menses and prevent endometrial hyperplasia which may predispose to endometrial carcinoma. As follicle (containing egg) in the ovary progresses, it makes some progesterone as well which prevents growth of other follicles and other ovarian tissue as well. After ovulation (spillage of egg from follicle and from ovary in fimbria of fallopian tube, the remaining follicle starts making progesterone in higher amounts.
