Now she us only 1 month old don't stress about that enjoy the cuddles. I am sure she will look and be good in all ways when she grows up.

Knowing height/weight of the child is important before any comment. He may be anemic if looking pale and dull.

You must go for a peripheral blood smear examination & if it confirms nutritional deficiency you can take plenty of green leafy & vegetables like palak & food items like jaggery, dates etc.

Hi doctor my sister has new born baby. She is 24 year old. Her prbm is due to feeding it's paining in her right side nipple. Wt type of prbm it is? Is any infection. Pls give some solutions.

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics

Hi doctor my sister has new born baby. She is 24 year old. Her prbm is due to feeding it's paining in her right side ...
Pain can be due to cracks in the nipple. It can be due to infection also. Apply your own milk after feeding the baby. The last part of milk is rich in fat and can help in healing. If there is any tenderness in breasts and discharge then please consult your doctor.

My baby is two months old girl. She is only fed mother's milk. Now she has not done potty since 3 days. Before this, she was doing normal potty daily. She is taking medicines bisgly-xt drops, rxplus drops, calshine p drops, ostocalcium b12 syrup that are prescribed 1 & 1/2 months ago by paediatrician. Now please advise, what to do for her normal motion.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Relax no need to do anything. If child is taking breast feeds and is active, to pass soft stools once in 5-6 days is normal. If child is passing gas then there is no mechanical obstruction in the gut (serious surgical condition). As regards the tonics iron and vit d drops are okay.

My son is 11 years old. He is taking juice of neem leaves from the age of 4 years twice every week. It may cause any harm?

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Don't worry, if it has not caused any problem during last 7 years, it will most probably not cause in future too. Let your son do whatever he likes. If worried too much you can see ayurved specialist for more details.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Water requirements, infant:

Water is an important part of a baby's diet because water makes up a large proportion of the baby's body.

When properly prepared, all infant formulas are approximately 85% water. Infant formulas are available in three forms: liquid ready-to-use, liquid concentrate, and powder concentrate. Liquid ready-to-use formulas do not require the addition of water, while the liquid and powder concentrates require the addition of water. It is of prime importance for parents to read, understand, and follow the manufacturer's directions when adding water to liquid and powder concentrates.

Too much water: Adding too much water to these formula concentrates or adding water to ready-to-use formulas can lead to water intoxication in the baby. In severe cases, water intoxication can cause low blood sodium levels, irritability, coma, and even permanent brain damage.

Not enough water: failing to adequately dilute the concentrates with water causes the formulas to be too "hypertonic" Hypertonic formulas can induce diarrhea and dehydration. In extreme cases, ingestion of overly hypertonic formulas can lead to kidney failure, gangrene of the legs, and coma.

Therefore, parents should not adjust the amount of water that is added to concentrates to either "fatten the baby up" or "put the baby on a diet" Instead, parents should discuss their concerns regarding the baby's calorie intake with his/her pediatrician.YOU CAN ASK ME WITH DETAILS LIKE WEIGHT/WHETHER BOTTLE FED AND HISTORY OF ANY DISEASES etc.

Breath holding spell isn't a genetic disorder. It usually disappears by 2 years. Correct iron deficiency anemia if he has.

Feeding uptil 1years is more than sufficient. After that baby gets nothing from feed but mother looses her calcium. Try to feed your child with proper food at night. Try to make her sleep with someone elze except you. In few days she will leave the night habit also.

MD - Paediatrics

Give proper nutrition with adequate calories, protein, carbohydrates and minerals to allow proper growth. These children are prone to poor growth. Look for any feeding problem like vomiting if any.

My one month baby's eyes are watery and white durt is available. Is it symptom of cold. If so then what to do?

Pediatrician, Pune
It is due to blockage of nasolacrimal duct, massage at the side of nose gently from up to downwards every time you breast feed, the duct will open up and watering will reduce in due course of time.

Preserving stem cell (cord blood) is a good thing. But the so much hyped benefits are not absolutely true. Research works are going on, so if affordability is not a barrier, you should go for it.

She gave birth to the girl child on 8 September 2016. But still access milk in her breast. And pain in her breast due to node.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician,
Its because she may not giving breast milk to her child or child may not taking it properly. Take warm water bath and do massage and express the milk in katori and give it baby by spoon or Paladi if baby is not taking direct breastfeeding. Take milder painkiller like Paracetamol if having pain.

Hi, there are a few suggestions for you to improve your child's health. Give him milk about 300ml per day plus 1milk cereal like suji kheer, dalia, rice kheer or fruit custard. Give him variety of fruits but specially include banana which is a wholesome diet for kids. Give him dals, boiled chana, rajma rice or rajma tikki, moong dal and chana sprouts, dal parantha, chana dal or moong dal pakodis. Use soya in cutlets or add soya atta to wheat atta or suji to make pancakes. You can make idlis with mixed grains and added vegs veg dalia pulav is a complete healthy meal for kids. I feel it is important to have a nutritious meal and feel physically and mentally active. Your son's weight is ok for his age. With regular nutritional foods, it would further improve plus will ensure his overall physical and mental development.
