Dear lybarte user, the swelling after wisdom tooth extraction normally stays for 3-4 days as it is a surgical procedure. Keep taking your medicines and follow the instructions given be your doctor. If the swelling doesn't subside for another 1-2 days, consult your dentist immediately.

I am feeling sensation in my mouth while eating or drinking. sensation is not wholly but side by side. i am using brush for last 15 years but i feel my jaw are weak. root of teeth are weak. suggest me how can i make my jaw strong and teeth strong. how can i prevent from sensation?

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dear Lybrate user, sensitive teeth can be due to cavities, gum recession, some old fillings etc. A proper clinical checkup would be required to establish the exact cause so consult your dentist immediately and pursue the treatment. You can use anti-sensitivity toothpastes for sometime. Apply it on the affected teeth, leave for 4-5 minutes and then brush it off. To maintain strong teeth and healthy gums, brush and floss regularly, use a soft toothbrush and brush gently using proper technique. Pay a visit to your dentist every 6 months.

My question is to an eminent Dentist; I have recently approched a dentist for filling one of my teeth which broken a bit and as it is no pain or sensitivity. He suggested a refill and I sat for it. But while working on it almost 75% of the teeth came out and he compleated the procedure. Now let know whether this teeth last long or required a replanting?

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
It all happened bcz of poor judgement prior to treatment and now if you saying 75 percent tooth is gone then it should have been restored with 'post and core buildup' followed by crown...If your dentist has put fiber post and restored with good composite followed by crown then you are safe...otherwise it won't last very long...

I have gaps in my front line teeth. I do not wana use braces. Can I use any specific retainer or any removable orthodontic equipment. Please do not sugest invisalign I cannot aford it.

Hello khaliq Well though braces would be the most ideal option it's understandable that you do not want to go for the option. Other forms of retainer which u ask wud not give the result which the braces wud give. Braces are far superior to any other forms of retainer. And most importantly the retainer give results which possibly might not be retained for a long time. Yes apart from these there are cosmetic fillings which u can think of, depending on the size of the gaps between your teeth. You need to discuss this with your dentist. I hope I clarified your question Good luck and God bless Dr supreeth s m

Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

I have bad breath for past 15 years but I do not have any problems in my teeth oral gums. I do not smoke and drink. It smells so bad like fishy. After brushing it smells mild but after some time it again bad breathing .so I need to know reason for bad breath and also remedies.

BDS, Master of Hospital Administration
Dentist, Patna
Bad breathe may be a result of many other causes than gum problems or smoking or drinking habits. It may be due to gastric problems. Or due to sialoliths or salivary gland disease or conditions. Better to consult a dentist and get the tests or diagnostic evaluations. Saliva tests may be fruitful.
