Back ache can be due to several reasons. It can be muscular, related to disc degeneration or prolapse, joint irritation or nerve pinching. Most common is muscle pain due to tight and weak back and abdominal muscles. Keep a positive attitude, focus more on keeping good posture especially when sitting for long hours, use lumbar support. Take frequent breaks and stretch in between. Try changing sleeping habits. Try hot or cold therapy as tolerated. Wish you speedy recovery.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned back pain since one month. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

It is caused due to heat. Drink as much as water you can. If possible sugar box and tamarind mixed water is good for healthin summer to avoid burning after urination.

Dear Raju, The diagnosis needs to confirmed. If in fact you have osteoarthritis then you need to be assessed for comorbidities and need to be put on an intensive exercise program with control of pain using safe pain modfiying medications instead of pain killers. This can be done best by a rheumatologist. If you let me know where you live I can give you a refernce of a nearby rheumatologist. You can contact me via my website www.Rheumatologybangalore.Com You can get more information regarding osteoarthritis from the document below. Swelling is a common problem after fracture, even after surgery. However we need to make sure that the fracture has united. Are you fully bearing weight on your legs? Do you have a recent x Ray. Please post the x Ray here. If fracture has united, a crepe bandage and physiotherapy will reduce the swelling.

My grandmother (83 years) is having pain around the knee area which is moving downwards. Because of this she is feeling the pain in her entire leg. This is happening in the left leg. The severity of pain increases when she lies down, but reduces when she walks or sits. Is this because of some nerve problem? Have tried cold and water water massage too but there is no improvement. She has been operated on right leg for the hip fracture and her movement is with the help of stick support. This pain has started since last 3-4 days. Due to this she is unable to sleep and is impacting her overall health.

Pain in the knee area in a 83 year old lady is mostly due to osteoarthritis or as we commonly call it as old age joints. Moreover she is bearing less weight on the right leg and more on the left, which further aggravates her condition. It is not something major to worry at this moment. Get a xray done and we can reach a definite diagnosis.

Most probably you are suffering from oa of knee. Knee surgery-total knee replacement (tkr) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x- rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road. Why not discuss with me in a video conferee? (facility provided by lybrate. Com)

Hello- pain during menses is due to obstruction of mestrual blood flow or due to the deficiency of blood. It is associated with hormonal disturbances in the body. As you are facing unwanted hairs and weight gain also, it may be probable that you might be suffering from pcos. Start ayurvedic medications for that.
