Diabetes - Ayurvedic Treatment For It!

When the sugar concentration in the blood increases suddenly and unreasonably, the resulting condition is known as diabetes. Sugar or glucose is generally used in order to provide much needed energy to our bodies. But when the pancreas dysfunctions, it leads to a problem in the insulin production. As a result, glucose or sugar gets directly absorbed into the blood, instead of getting absorbed by insulin. And this leads to the condition of diabetes.

Diabetes Treatment in Ayurveda
For Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, the first step is usually dietary planning and lifestyle change. Adopting a more active lifestyle, and a healthy, balanced diet low on sugars and starches, is a must. You must begin by avoiding sugars in all forms. This means you will have to get rid of rice, potatoes, white bread, sugar coated cereals, bananas, colocasia and much more. Add a lot of green leafy vegetables to your diet to improve your nutritional status and metabolism. In addition to these, also add some herbs to your diet. Ayurvedic herbs that act as natural medicine for diabetes include turmeric, bitter gourd, gurmar leaves, bael, fenugreek and many more.

Apart from diabetes Ayurvedic treatment, you could also practice yoga, which can help you improve your health. Several yogic asanas help massage your internal organs so that they are healthier and can function much better. Some of the asanas are especially beneficial for the pancreas, which produces insulin. You may have to make some changes to your lifestyle as well. For starters, you will have to maintain a more active lifestyle. You will also have to avoid sleeping in the daytime. Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol and take extra care of your feet.

As an ancient science based on lifestyle related treatment methods that include herbs, massages and life changing tweaks, Ayurveda also provides various methods of managing this ailment. Here's how!

  1. Bitter Gourd: Known as an ingredient that is rich in antioxidants, this can be consumed to take care of diabetes. You will need to first remove the peel of at least four to five bitter gourds before crushing them to create a paste. This paste has to be put through a sieve so that the juice of the gourds can be extracted. You will then have to drink this juice every morning, on an empty stomach.
  2. Cinnamon: From treating coughs and colds to diabetes and other serious ailments, this is a wonder spice that can be found in most Indian kitchens. You can start by boiling a litre of water and letting it simmer on the gas for about twenty minutes. Thereafter, you can add three teaspoons of cinnamon powder to this simmering water. Strain this mixture and drink the entire batch every day to clear out the toxins.
  3. Fenugreek Seeds: For this, you will need to take about four to five tablespoons of fenugreek seeds. These will have to be soaked in a glass of water or about 250ml of water, overnight. In the morning, the softened seeds will need to be crushed before the mixture is strained. The water that escapes should be collected and ingested every day for a period of two months.
  4. Turmeric: Turmeric is a powerful and well-known ingredient that is used for curing and managing many ailments. You will need to mix about half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with one teaspoon of amla powder as well as half a tablespoon of methi seeds or fenugreek seeds powder. This concoction will have to mixed in half a glass of water and taken daily on an empty stomach. This can be used by patients suffering from heart ailments as well.
  5. Diet: Cereals like ragi, corn, kulit, green millet, and barley are known to beneficial for patients suffering from diabetes. Leafy greens are also a must for such patients along with protein-rich foods like soya beans. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

Panchakarma treatments like Snehapanam, Vaman, Virechan are helpful in removing toxins from our body and cure diabetes under supervision of a practising physician.

1. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg , then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans,soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods. Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories. 2. Eat custard apple (Saripa, Sitaphal) to put on some weight. This fruit is high in calorie. 3. Healthy fats: Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will put flesh fast. But ghee is mostly saturated fat which is not a healthy fat for any body. Healthy fats are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Good fats: cold pressed oils (olive, sunflower, linseed, canola ). 4. Drink pure fruit juice. It is full of sugar and added nutrients so it is a healthy and nutritious way to gain some pounds. 5. Complex carbohydrates are also needed for gaining weight.. Corn bread is also full of carbohydrates, one piece gives approximately 328 calories. Potatoes are rich sources of carbohydrates and complex sugars, eat baked or as grilled potatoes. Pasta is a calorie rich cereal carbohydrates. 6. Eat bananas. These are rich in carbs and nutritious, one banana contains approximately 100 calories. 7. Some people think that drinking beer helps, but it is not true, it accumulates in your abdomen, making it fatty. Don't take protein supplements for gaining muscles.

All these problems are due to gastric problem. You have to take deworming & Rabeprazole with domperidone on empty stomach & some pain releiver.

Hello, you can use kojic soap for an extremely oily skin. It causes skin to dry. Use a good company like marie france. You may also try foaming face wash with salicilic acid.

If you are trying to gain some kg, eat some lean red meat. Steak contains a lot of protein and iron. Foods like ground beef, pork chops can also be eaten.

Take a protein supplement b protein powder 2 teaspoon per day in a glass of milk. Add in your diet dry fruits such as 5-6 pcs of almonds and 1-2 pcs of walnut and take a complete meal having dal, rice, curd or buttermilk, roti and salad.

I am 65 years male with 57 kg weight. I was taking Atpure 12.5 mg once a day from last 6 years as a precautionary measure for high BP as advised by a nephrologist. After the availability in the market stopped, I started taking Atenolol 25 mg but my BP raised to 158/100 mg/dl. So doctors advised me to take Amlodipine 2.5 mg + Nebuvilol 2.5 mg once a day. My BP is nearly normal 130/85 mg/dl from past one month, so I want to reduce the drug or try taking just one of these, if it is a must. Kindly advise how should I go about it.

While you are on amlodipin+Nebuvilol B.P has come down to normal. That means you require that dosage.You should continue the same drugs and get checked your BP every 10days .You are supposed to change the dosage, when it is advised by doctors only.Don't experiment with drugs ,you may have to face serious complications. Already you are under the care of nephrologist

Eat a lot of Vegetable salads throughout the day between your main meals. A diet high in fibre is the best bet for healthy digestion. Eat carrots, beet root, turnip etc. Along with dietary fibre, they provide you with lots of vitamins and minerals. It will also keep you satisfied and not feel hungry. Eat all seasonal fruits (if you don't have any other medical condition). Always go for a variety of colors and make sure your fridge is always stocked with fresh fruit. Always aim to shop for seasonal fruits from a quality perspective and cost perspective. If you can, go for local and organically grown produce. Examples are apples, grapes, bananas, kiwi, papaya, guava, Pears, strawberries, mango, oranges, Kinoo, and pineapple. Pomegranate is known to promote healthy digestion. Eat it rather than drinking it's juice. Also increase your water intake upto 5-6 litres per day. Drink green tea 2-3 times a day. hope this helps.

More than anxiety, I think you are developing phobia and having hysterical reactions too. These are all fear based and as such if you work with a counselor to address the fear a lot can be resolved. These are examples of normal fear becoming abnormal due to the neglect of fear itself. Fear is good and is extremely useful to exercise caution where necessary. Somewhere and somehow you have been denying the fear and it has over a period of time developed into phobia. It is also possible that in childhood you may have had some traumatic experience and that has led to this abnormal response to fear today. Meet with a counselor and deal with your emotions to deal with the underlying causes. In the meantime, you can learn to de-condition yourself off of the phobia by frequenting these places with a therapist and gradually working out through the experience the various reactions that you will go through. Over time you will find that your phobia is unfounded and learn to develop normal responses to these situations. Vigorous exercise, especially of the callisthenic kind, will make your heart, which is a muscle, grow larger; and then your heart will need to beat less often and you will respond to the phobia with a calmer disposition. This will give you an undue advantage over the phobia to perhaps bring it into the normal realm of fear. That, you can then tackle with aplomb.
