Once try to obsrrve after she goes to bed. The first position how she lies, later. How she changes. If you keen on observing, you may b able to find out at what time after or how she changes her position. If it happens suddenly or without conciousness followed by noise in mouth, etc. Once she needs to see neuroligist (suspecting seizures) n related check ups as precautionary action. If it all happens in normal pattern n with her consciousness&voluntarily,&responding well when you call, then you need not to worry. But it all depends on your observation.

Hi, there are a few suggestions for you to improve your child's health. Give him milk about 300ml per day plus 1milk cereal like suji kheer, dalia, rice kheer or fruit custard. Give him variety of fruits but specially include banana which is a wholesome diet for kids. Give him dals, boiled chana, rajma rice or rajma tikki, moong dal and chana sprouts, dal parantha, chana dal or moong dal pakodis. Use soya in cutlets or add soya atta to wheat atta or suji to make pancakes. You can make idlis with mixed grains and added vegs veg dalia pulav is a complete healthy meal for kids. I feel it is important to have a nutritious meal and feel physically and mentally active. Your son's weight is ok for his age. With regular nutritional foods, it would further improve plus will ensure his overall physical and mental development.

I have given painless pentaxim vaccine once to my 2 month baby boy after that I have given him painful pentavac vaccine. Will there be any reaction by changing the vaccines? Is it safe?

MD - Paediatrics, DNB (Pediatrics)

I have given painless pentaxim vaccine once to my 2 month baby boy after that I have given him painful pentavac vacci...
Currently Pentaxim vaccine is not recommended by INDIAN ACADEMICS OF PEDIATRICS below 1 year or in primary series of 6 10 and 14 week schedule. As it contains acellular pertusis as one of the components its painless and feverless but its not as effective as pentavac because it conta wholecell pertusis which is efficacious in long term. If your child have any reaction from Pentavac then only it wise to shift from Pentavac to Pentaxim. Try to take all pentavac if possible.

You can increase to 60 or more as she can feed. Do not give in bottle but feed from a cup. And the waste after each feed should not be kept and has to be discarded. Remember, breastfeeding is the best.

My daughter is 4 years old and weighs only 15 kgs. She does not have any ailments and is very active. But her weight seems below normal and she looks skinny. She eats normally although with a few tantrums and loves regular fruits and vegetables. Is there any way by which her weight can improve?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
If she is active she is well, and active children usually do not put on extra weight. Give her food containing proteins like milk products and dhal and pulses.

He is suffering from constipation.  he should be on a good fibre rich diet. Give plenty of water.  regular laxative if needed along with a good diet plan. As constipation is a chronic problem in most cases and most common cause is habitual constipation.  You must ensure a regular bowel time after a drink irrespective of passage of stool. He should be sitting for sometime say 10_ 15 minutes in a fixed time daily in a Indian style toilet. She appears  to be a fussy eater. Most importantly you need to be patient with her. Don't shout or scream while feeding her. Try to make her feeding time fun or playtime. After not giving any food for 3 hrs at least make him sit with the food he likes (solid foods not pastes or liquids) with spoon and katori or fork. Let him at least play with the food for some time. If he likes milk a lot then try to give solid like plain rice, oats. Chatu. With the pediasure You can have a deal with him. He will take 1 sip milk and 1 bite of something  This way he will learn to chew Threptin  biscuits are good to taste and are rich in protein (casein) Avoid giving him chips fast food Makes small pieces of food  and ask  her to try just 1 bite. If he likes the taste she will have another. If he likes chicken. Give him chicken in different  ways. Introduce him to egg. Boiled or omelette whatever he likes. Play with him till he feels tired. Playing running will improve digestion. Don't loose temper You can give him  one egg a day Cucumbers made into small pieces will help  with problem of flatulence. Children have to deal with new  food, new habits. So they act out. Do not get flustered if he criesmakes a scene. Sit quietly, go to another room, ignore him. He will learn that bad behaviour  will not allow him to get her own way. I know it's very difficult but keep trying as that's the best you can give him. Pain  abdomen  may be due indigestion earmarked, gastritis. Good hand hygiene: Regular nail trimming Washing hand after each toilet visit. And before taking any food in any form Also take care of drinking water quality. Test Adviced: CBC with AEC Stool and urine R/E, M/E USG abdomen Share the reports if any Kindly do the follo You can check out the Health blog I manage with my wife. It has many helpful tips.
