I am aged 25 years, female, married. I had under gone surgery on my lest ear. I get fungus infection one in two months in that ear. I could not hear by that ear. I get cold frequently. I have sinus problem also. Ent doctors say, a surgery in nose also a must for me. If I undergo the operation in the nose will solve the problem in my ear also. Kindly suggest.

MS - ENT(Gold Medalist), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Delhi
If you have problem in nose your ear problem can not be solved without treating this bcz ear and nose are interlinked. What problem do you have in nose? get a ct scan done and send the report only after that proper advise can be given.

I have a doubt, while the sex how we know that our partner (wife) is satisfied with sex? Please suggest me.

Homeopath, Raebareli
The number one thing women want is for you to be more aggressive in bed. That means handling her body with strength and confidence, which can be insanely erotic for her. And it doesn't require a lot of work or advanced skills on your part. In fact, doing just one take-charge thing can spike her arousal level. A few to try: In missionary, take her wrists and hold them above her head, pinned to the mattress. When she's on top, hold her hips and push/pull them back and forth, so her clitoris grinds against your pubic bone. And when you want to change positions, don't do it slowly or politely—grab her and put her where you want her. For further queries get back to me.

He is suffering from erectile dysfunction for last 2 months. And taking tedalfil 5 mg od on doctor's prescription. Is ed is actually curable?

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Erectile dysfunction, often referred to as ED, is characterized by a persistent and recurring inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Psychological (like stress and anxiety, poor communication with your partner, unrealistic sexual expectations, negative feelings about non performance, depression), physical and lifestyle (smoking, alcohol and sometimes illicit drugs and medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone) or neurologic disorders (such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease) issues can all cause ED, as can trauma to nerves and arteries (for example, from prostate surgery). The incidence of erectile dysfunction increases with age, but young men can also experience it. So, will have to find out the exact cause in your case. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Damiaplant/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Management: Regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice Pelvic floor exercise or Kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor.

I have suffering viral fever last two days please tell me what can I do for cure.

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine), Certified in Evidence Based Diabetes Management, MNAMS
Internal Medicine Specialist, Kolkata
Thank you for the query. Viral fever usually runs a course of 5-6 days before subsiding on its own. You need to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and take a course of multivitamin tablets. Tablet Paracetamol can be taken when temperature exceeds 100 F or in case of headache/bodyache. Usually antibiotics are not needed in a simple case of viral fever. However, if fever persists for a longer time and symptoms like cough with sputum, bleeding from any site, burning during urination develops then some laboratory investigation will be needed. I would advise you to go for some basic tests like Hemoglobin, WBC count/TC and malaria parasite to rule out any other pathology like bacterial infection or malaria, wherein the treatment plan changes. Regards.

I'm masturbating from 13 yrs, if I stop doing it Will be k.suggest me some suggestion.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Masturbation is a very healthy form of sexual outlet, do not feel guilty about it. Nearly 99% of men and more than 60% of women masturbate. It starts from adolescence and goes on in some people even till death. The pleasure (orgasm) from masturbation is said to be unique from sexual intercourse. In men, most of the liquid contains only water and some fructose and hormones. Hence it does not drain your energy. Many equate masturbation/ seminal fluid loss to lack of energy, impotency and so on. Many quacks, religious heads and pseudo healers also propagate the idea that masturbation is a disorder/ and wrongful behavior and instill fear on the mind of innocent men and women (we can see posters in train and bus stand, offering help for this behavior). Consult a psychiatrist, if you have excessive masturbation guilt or compulsive masturbation. Compulsive masturbation is when a person continues with frequent masturbation neglecting his/ her other work like education, job or social obligations. In fact masturbation reduces the sexual tension and helps focus on task at hand better.

Bone Fracture - Common Types and How They Can be Prevented?

MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS

Bone Fracture - Common Types and How They Can be Prevented?

The human body allows for movement through the complex system of bones, muscles and joints. A break in the bone is medically known as a fracture and can be caused by constant stress, pressure or impact. It is common knowledge that with age, the bone strength decreases and incidence of fractures (osteoporotic fracture) increases. Based on the affected bone and impact, different types of fractures are commonly identified as:

  1. Complete: When the breakage of the bone is complete, producing two or more pieces, it is referred to as a complete fracture.
  2. Incomplete: When the breakage is incomplete, where the bone has cracked, but does not break into pieces, it is known as an incomplete fracture.
  3. Another type would be the open or closed fracture:
    • Open fracture: When the skin is exposed and the bone breaks through this exposed skin, it is known as compound or open fracture.
    • Simple or closed fracture: The bone breaks, but the skin continuity is maintained. Again, here are different types including hairline, greenstick, oblique, etc.

What is the reason behind a fracture?
A bone will fracture when force is applied to it that is stronger than the bone itself. A key factor in a bone’s susceptibility to fracturing is age. Both children and older people are prone to bone fractures. Children’s bones are constantly growing and have not reached their full strength. Elderly people have brittle bones with old age and are prone to develop bone diseases, making them susceptible to fractures.

How they are treated?
Splint and pain medications are commonly used. Closed reduction where the fracture is reduced without opening up the tissues and open reduction, where the tissues are opened up are common approaches to managing fractures.

Can they be prevented?
Especially with children and in the elderly, extra precaution should be taken to avoid any kind of injury and fracture.

  1. Develop an exercise routine to strengthen the muscles
  2. Manage weight
  3. Use the right footwear and exercise gear
  4. Watch your medications (avoid sleep inducing ones)
  5. Increase lighting in the room/home to improve clarity of vision for elderly
  6. Make the home/living area fall-proof by reducing clutter, using railing in the bathroom and bedrRhinoplastyoom, using rubber mat, etc.
  7. While a fall may seem inevitable, taking the above steps can help reduce the incidence and severity of a fall, thereby minimizing damage.
