Myomectomy - 3 Surgical Methods

Myomectomy - 3 Surgical Methods

Fibroids are non-cancerous growth that develop in the uterus in varying sizes. Fibroids do not usually show symptoms, but if they are large they may cause severe pain in the abdomen, heavy menstrual bleeding, bloating, infertility or complications during pregnancy. Several factors may lead to the formation of fibroids, including hormones, family history, and pregnancy.

What is myomectomy?
Myomectomy is the surgical procedure which is used for removing fibroids from the uterus. It is a safe method that allows women to become pregnant in future. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue therapy, performed before myomectomy helps in lowering the estrogen level and also controls anemia by stopping uterine bleeding. The different surgical methods for myomectomy include:

  • Hysteroscopy, involving the insertion of a lighted viewing instrument into the uterus
  • Laparoscopy, involving the insertion of a lighted viewing instrument and one or more incisions in the abdomen
  • Laparotomy, involving a larger incision made in the abdomen

Why is the surgery performed?
Myomectomy treats fibroids while preserving the uterus. It is a viable option for those who have:

  • Anemia which cannot be controlled with medicines
  • Pain which cannot be tackled with medicines
  • A fibroid that can cause infertility or increases the risk of miscarriages

How well does it work?

  • Pregnancy: myomectomy is the only treatment for treating fibroids that improve your chances of having a baby. The method is effective for treating submucosal fibroid. A cesarean section is required for delivery after performing a myomectomy.
  • Recurrence: recurrence of fibroids after myomectomy is really low. It is possible in rare cases, depending on what the original fibroid problem was. Large and numerous fibroids have a greater risk of recurrence.

Understanding Prostatitis Treatment Options!

Understanding Prostatitis Treatment Options!

Prostatitis is one of the most common conditions in men over the age of 40. When you are suffering from it, there are many treatment options you can go with. It's good to note that the options vary depending on the type of condition you are suffering from. Some of these options include:

Acute prostatitis

From its name, when you have acute prostatitis it means that you have had the condition for only a short time. The options for this condition are aimed at curing the infection and also prevent complications from coming about. Doctors use different ways to treat the condition. The most common ways being: fluids, rest, medicine, and stool softeners. If you need intravenous antibiotics or are unable to urinate, the doctor may recommend that you be admitted.

Chronic prostatitis

When suffering from this condition, you may need more than one option. In most cases, the doctors will use antibiotics. If the symptoms don't improve, the professionals will stop the treatment and look for other options. The professionals may also use alpha blockers and muscle relaxants. This is if you are experiencing muscle spasms that are bringing about pain and urination problems.

Anti-inflammatory medications are also heavily used in the treatment of chronic prostatitis. Here the doctors use the anti-inflammatory drugs that are at their disposal to get rid of the problem. To slow the growth of the prostate, some professionals use 5-alpha reductase inhibitors.

Other than these treatment options, the doctors may also use physical therapy, exercises, massage therapy, relaxation, and counseling. Certain plant extracts such as bee pollen has been found to be highly effective.

Chronic bacterial prostatitis

The options for this type of prostatitis are similar to those you find in acute prostatitis. You undertake the treatment to cure the infection and also prevent complications from coming about. During the treatment, the doctors will give you antibiotics for 6-12 weeks and inspect the progression.

In some cases, the symptoms don't go away, and in such a case, the professionals may recommend alternative options. If you have prostate stones, you may have to have them removed surgically. The same thing applies if you are suffering from urinary tract problems such as narrowing of the urethra and neck.

Conclusion

This is what you need to know about the treatment options for prostatitis. To avoid complications, make it a habit of undertaking regular checkups especially if you are over the age of 40.

Strong and healthy growth of your hair depends on a balanced diet. The nutrients that are consumed by the body fortify the hair follicles. For boosting hair growth, certain vitamins like Vitamin B, C, A, D and minerals like selenium, zinc, folic acid, iron and protein are required. You also require a good amount of Omega 3 fatty acids, which keep your hair scalp hydrated. Consuming foods having any or all of these nutrients are one of the solutions to long, healthy thick hair. You can take Wholegrains, like barley, oats, buckwheat, broken wheat, ragi, bajra ,Brown rice,Legumes like kidney beans, soy beans, dark green leafy vegetables ,eggs, carrots, tomatoes, sweetpotato, fruits, yogurt, walnuts and almonds. Along with the dietary changes , you may massage your scalp with almond oil at night and rinse it next morning.
