Her periods are expected to be from 13th to17 th of every month (28 days regular cycle) but her periods are not yet started. Is there any chances of pregnancy?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

Periods may get delayed or irregular because of ipill. If they miss by 7 days then please get urine pregnanc test done and keep repeating it every week till she gets menses. Safe period is not very reliable as sometimes ovulation gets delayed.

General Physician,
How to recognize cardiac arrest

Rapid recognition of cardiac arrest is the essential first step of successful cpr 10.

As per guidelines, the lay rescuer who witnesses a person collapse or comes across an apparently unresponsive person should confirm unresponsiveness by tapping the person on the shoulder and shouting" are you all right"

If the person does not respond, the rescuer calls for help or ambulance and initiates excellent chest compressions.

Lay rescuers should not attempt to assess the victim?s pulse and, unless the patient has what appear to be normal respirations, should assume the patient is apneic or without respiration.

Remember even well?trained professionals can have difficulty determining if breathing is adequate or pulses are present in unresponsive adults.

After assessing responsiveness, health care providers should quickly check the patient?s pulse.

While doing so, it is reasonable to visually assess the patient?s respirations.

It is appropriate to assume the patient is in cardiac arrest if there is no breathing or abnormal breathing (gasping) or if a pulse cannot be readily palpated within 10 seconds.

The key point is not to delay cpr.

The first thing you have to do is to develop a positive attitude towards your goal. You need to understand that transforming your physique is going to take a lot of time. These things don't work that easily. It's going to take a lot of hard work and consistency. 1.Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. Begin with body weight exercises like push up, pull up and squats. Weight training proves to be really helpful if you want to gain good quality weight. Train each body part twice a week. For example: Monday/Thursday: Chest + Triceps Tuesday/Friday: Back + Biceps Wednesday/Saturday: Legs + Shoulders Don't forget to warm up for at least 10 - 15 minutes. Warm up includes jumping, rope skipping, treadmill, cycling, stair climbing, etc. 2.Eat Healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 2 - 3 hours. Some of the recommended food items are boiled chicken and eggs, brown rice, brown bread, peanut butter, olive oil (extra virgin), green tea, dry fruits etc. 3.Consume good amount of fruits and vegetables. Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. 4.Eat whole grains. Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats are best sources of healthy carbohydrates but do not include these items in your dinner. 5.Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Boiled chicken and eggs are the best sources of fat free protein. Sprouts are also rich in protein. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. E. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. F. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. G. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain.

If eating more fills you up too much, try drinking your calories. Milk, 100-percent fruit juice and homemade smoothies add calories between meals. Whiz up a high-calorie smoothie containing a whole banana, frozen yogurt, milk, juice and nut butter or flax seed in your own kitchen. Include dried milk powder or protein powder to boost the calorie count of plain milk.

You can use oxymetazolin drops/spray but not for more than 1 week. You may have enlarged turbinates or deviated nasal septum. It will be informative if you can take a photo of your nose in such a way that I can show inside of your nasal cavity. For proper visibility of interior of your nose, first cut the nasal hairs and take photo with flash. Send it to me so I can guide you further.

Food supplements
Dietary supplements in the form of natural food items are better and effective without side effects in comparison to drugs. So always look for vegetables and fruits that r organic in nature. Also there r some food companies that provide these food supplements like amway and supple.

I got lower back pain one month before I consult the Ortho Doctor, then I took traction continuously for 10 days. Afterwards its ok there is no pain. But now slightly pain is there.

Sir, I need consultation on my love marriage with my cousin we are in deep love for the past 6 years. She is my mother sister daughter. Our parents are opposing it severely. I am very depressed no hope of life. I don't know how to convince them. They are obsessed with the society. We can't live without each other. We both are working. They are very negative minded people. They think what they say is only correct. They believe outsider's words rather than our words. They Are forcing her to marry other person. They are torturing us. We don't want to marry other people and spoil their lives and decided not marry any one but they are not listening to her. I don't know how to convince them at least to agree that not to force to marry other person. We love parents a lot. But they are not at least trying to understand our situation. They are concerned about themselves only. If you can deal this type cases let me know. Please help me.

If I may say so, all the accusations you have piled on your parents are actually true about both of you. You see, this marriage is a consanguineous marriage i. E. Being first cousins it is not medically advisable for you two to get married. Your offspring will suffer all kinds of abnormalities. So there is good reason for your parents to oppose it, not on social grounds alone. If you do not wish to have children of your own, then it is possible to marry this girl. Do not get so worked up about this whole situation. This is really a test of your love for each other: you can become all adamant and refuse to see reason or you can accept the facts and learn to move on. So, have a discussion with your parents and study the pros and cons in consultation with a doctor or counselor and sort this matter out for good.

Mr. Lybrate-user, pyorrhea is invariably due to unhealthy food habits, not taking enough care to clean the mouth, lack of vitamin c and infection due to injury to gums etc. Proper brushing and regular massaging the gums and use of astringent gels helps in controlling bleeding in gums. Plus regular vitamin c supplement should be used. Use mouth wash regularly to control oral infection. Better to consult a near by dental surgeon.
