Travel in pregnancy is generally safe if the pregnancy is uncomplicated as per your medical records and ultrasound. Schedule an appointment just before you plan your travel and go ahead if everything is ok on examination.

Hii m 20 years old girl. My menstrual period came 5-6 days ago since last 4-5 months. Is there any problem in that case. Plzz tell me.

No it is perfectly normal, unless you get other associated symptom like weight gain, excess bleeding etc. Menses may come 4 to 5 days early or late than your last menstrual date.

I am a breast feeding mother. Which is the tablet good for getting period as well as not harmful?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- It is not advisable to go for forced period within a year of breast feed as it will decrease the quantity of breast milk and the medicine will also pass out from mother's body into feeding baby which may cause serious health issues. If the baby is one year older thn you can use "Raja pravartani vati" 1 tab twice daily for 15 days to start menses.

I've been having clear vaginal discharge here lately, it soaks my panties. My vagina is healthy but sometimes burns or itches. A couple months ago my boyfriend took my virginity. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not:/ but I did have my last period on time and my normal flow. What's going on, should I go see the doctor?

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Vaginal discharge serves an important function in the female reproductive system. Fluid made by glands inside the vagina and cervix carries away dead cells and bacteria. This keeps the vagina clean and helps prevent infection. Most of the time, vaginal discharge is perfectly normal. The amount can vary, as can odor and hue (its color can range from clear to a milky white-ish), depending on the time in your menstrual cycle. For example, there will be more discharge if you are ovulating, breastfeeding, or are sexually aroused. However, there are certain types of discharge that can indicate an infection. Abnormal discharge may be yellow or green, chunky in consistency, or have a foul odor. Abnormal discharge is usually caused by yeast or bacterial infection. If you notice any discharge that looks unusual or is foul smelling, you should see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. None of those changes is cause for alarm. However, if the color, smell, or consistency seems significantly unusual, especially if it accompanied by vaginal itching or burning, you could be noticing an infection or other condition. If you have unusual discharge with other symptoms such as a fever, pain in the abdomen, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, or increased urination, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about the normality of a discharge, make an appointment to see your doctor. Home Care for Vaginal Discharge: Here are some tips for preventing vaginal infections that can lead to abnormal discharge: Keep the vagina clean by washing regularly with a gentle, mild soap and warm water. Never use scented soaps and feminine products or douche. Also avoid feminine sprays and bubble baths. After going to the bathroom, always wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina and causing an infection. Wear 100% cotton underpants, and avoid overly tight clothing. Don’t use douches because they can make discharge worse by removing useful bacteria. You should also practice safe sex and use protection to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. To decrease the likelihood of yeast infections when taking antibiotics, eat yogurt that contains live and active cultures. If you know you have a yeast infection, you can also treat it with an over-the-counter yeast infection cream or suppository.

Donor Egg / Donor Embryo

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Donor Egg / Donor Embryo

Donor Egg/ Donor Embryo

If you’re over 40 or can no longer produce healthy eggs, donor eggs can help you carry and deliver a baby. This is also a good option if you’re at risk for passing a genetic disease such as Tay-Sachs disease or sickle cell anemia to your child.

Treatment: What to expect:

  • If you decide on an anonymous egg donor, you can find her through your fertility clinic. You’ll usually be able to choose based on her physical characteristics, ethnic background, educational record, and occupation. Most donors are between 21 and 29 years old and have undergone psychological, medical, and genetic screening. Ask how your clinic screens candidates ” some do less extensive tests and background checks than others. If you choose to use donor embryos, you can either pick unrelated egg and sperm donors or use a frozen embryo donated by a couple that had extras.

  • Once you pick a donor, both you and she will take birth control pills to get your reproductive cycles in sync ” she needs to ovulate when your uterine lining can support an embryo. She’ll also take a fertility drug to help her develop several mature eggs for fertilization, while you will receive estrogen and progesterone to prepare your uterus for pregnancy. Once her eggs are mature, your doctor will give her an anesthetic and remove her eggs from her ovaries by inserting a needle through her vaginal wall using an ultrasound for guidance.

  • From here on out, the procedure is just like that of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Your partner’s sperm or a donor’s sperm will be combined with your donor’s eggs in a dish in a laboratory. Two to five days later, each of the fertilized eggs will be a ball of cells called an embryo. Your doctor will insert two to four embryos into your uterus through your cervix using a thin catheter. Although it’s not a common practice, many experts say couples should consider transfer of a single embryo to avoid the risk of twins or triplets. Extra embryos, if there are any, may be frozen in case this cycle doesn’t succeed. If the treatment does succeed, an embryo will implant in your uterine wall and continue to grow into a baby. In about 40 percent of ART pregnancies using donor eggs, more than one embryo implants itself and women give birth to multiples

I have a ovulation test and it says the small little line is dark red and the big circle is red but not as dark what does that mean? I'm not ovulating I think I am pregnant i've been off birth control for 12 days now and I had unprotected sex. Should I wait till the end of the month.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Pregnancy test comes positive only after missed period. There should be two lines in red to call it pregnancy. Circle colour you do not need to see.

If he has not inserted and ejaculated in you, then there is hardly a chance that you are pregnant. But if you still have a doubt, you may check it by pregnancy kit available in chemist stores. It will almost confirm that if you are pregnant or not.

Take one tablet of levocetrizine (5 mg) at bed time if itching is severe 3.Thoroughly dry the area after taking bath and keep it dry and sweat free. so which homeopathy medicine would you suggest? Also wanna know that can I do massage to uplift the saggy cheek in a upward motion and massage acupressure points to uplift my saggy side of cheek? Will this help? And which face exercise you would suggest me to do? Please help.

Homeopath, Secunderabad
Eat healthy food and do yoga. Pranayama can also be beneficial. Visit a doctor for general checkup and do some tests like CBC, blood sugar levels, thyroid tests etc. Revert after the reports. You can start Homeopathy if required after a detailed case history (personal history ).

First of all, get this test repeated from a different laboratory of good reputation. It may be that this test report may have varied result. Secondly, if your report is this high then your medicine dose need to be adjusted as soon as possible. In this regard, I would further advice to get tested asap and follow up on Lybrate.

My wife is having a problem of repeated miscarriages for last 3 years. We have done all the tests for her (i. E. Apla profile, beta2 glycoprotein profile, tvus, torch, hba! c, tsh etc) please sugeest a line of treatment or what else we can do. She is 26 year old and I am 32 year old.

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
Try to understand. This is technically so much complicated subject that just listing some misspelled words none can dare to say any thing. Line of treatment is not your concern. Your concern is recurrent abortion and for that the treating gynaecologist is the best person to explain all your question. If he / she doesn't you have every right to change the doctor.

Your feet might swell in the latter stages of your pregnancy. Try to elevate them and rest them on the foot stool to avoid any ankle swelling. Wear comfortable shoes with flat heels.
