Avoid decongestant nasal drops as they produce rebound congestion. You may use saline nasal drop or steroid nasal spray under medical supervision.

1. I have sinus, can I apply curd for my hair / head when I take a head bath? 2. Is there a difference between curd and milk itself turning into curd consistency?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Navi Mumbai
Curd is hot in nature and milk is cold in nature curd is very heavier than milk. Milk is sweet in nature curd not why you want to apply curd on head. Don't do that. Its depend on you constitution.

I am suffering from sinus infection from the past 6 months. And I had consulted a ENT specialist. It was seems to be ok last month. But again I am facing the same problem. Whqt is the cure for this disease from its root?

MBBS, MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Ahmedabad
Generally sinus infection is preceded by allergy. You must avoid your allergens to prevent cold which in turn prevents sinusitis. Try to avoid dust smokes perfumes and pollutants. Use facemask in such situations. Prevention is better than cure. Take regular steam inhalation. But if you have structural block in your nose and sinus that has to correct surgically.

I have been suffering from anaemia for 3 years now? My weight has dropped with increased levels of dizziness. What should I do?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
You must do several things correctly to gain weight. A healthy diet: this is the foundation of gaining weight. If you don't do this right, the other things you do won't be effective and could even be harmful. Follow the following tips:- · Pay attention to your health and food intake. · To increase your appetite, have a glass of lime water or 1 cardamom (elaichi) before your meal. · Have minimum 4 meals in a day. · Drink 1 glass of milk twice a day. · Try to enjoy your meals and gradually increase the quantity you eat every time. · A balance diet should have all essential nutrients in it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It should include combination of Both Carbohydrates and Proteins for e.g. Oats with Milk or Poha/ Upma with a glass of milk. If you do not like milk have 1-2 egg whites in the morning along with your breakfast. · You need to focus on your protein intake : Increase your protein intake e.g. milk, dairy products- cheese, paneer, lentils (dals), nuts ( soya, peanuts, dry fruits ), pulses e.g. rajma, chole, kidney beans etc. sprouts. If you are a non-vegetarian, then you can have proteins by also eating eggs, chicken, fish. Make sure you are including at least 2 serving of any of these in your daily meal. · Lunch and dinner again should be a combination of Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats which could have dal, roti, sabji/chicken, salad. · Please do have minimum 4 almonds or a small bowl of peanuts every day. · Please ensure that you drink at least 3 litres of water every day. Kindly mention your hb and revert back to me for further assistance.

I am 50 years old. My hearing in the right ear was suddenly impaired resulting in vertigo. Ent specialists have diagonised the impairment due to minier's decease, which causes accumulation of liquid in the inner ear. They also say that their is no cures. My hearing in the right ear is 50 percent with higher frequencies muted. My hearing in the left ear has become 20per ent higher than normal. Kindly advise for any resolution.

First thing you need to do is reduce your sodium intake, quit smoking and reduce your tea and coffee intake. Next is, you may take tab. Meclozine. It will help you. Intra-tympanic steroid injection has shown to have some benefit. Surgical correction can also be done, but it is always associated with some degree of hearing loss.

Sometimes I hear a popping sound from my ears inside while I swallow. Feels some kind of pressure little. What is this. Do I have to consult or its ok. I have been experience this since 2 years. Any medication needed or can it be gone itself.

MBBS, MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Ahmedabad
There is a connection from back of our eardrums to our back of nose and throat called eustachian tube. If the popping is very occasional than it is likely to be normal. But better to have a check up because wax on eardrum and certain eardrum problem can cause similar complain.
