Baby learns to speak what he hears. His stammering may be due to your speech. It may be resolved. Encourage him to speak slowly. Speech therapist may be helpful.

Once try to obsrrve after she goes to bed. The first position how she lies, later. How she changes. If you keen on observing, you may b able to find out at what time after or how she changes her position. If it happens suddenly or without conciousness followed by noise in mouth, etc. Once she needs to see neuroligist (suspecting seizures) n related check ups as precautionary action. If it all happens in normal pattern n with her consciousness&voluntarily,&responding well when you call, then you need not to worry. But it all depends on your observation.

My son is 6 month old from the time he has started eating biscuits he is stool is becoming too hard and its pains a lot. So how can I make his stool soft.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)

U have said after taking biscuits, his stool became hard so biscuit is culprit. Stop biscuit or minimize it and add vegetables, fibrous food and plenty of water/ liquid in his diet.

I have a girl baby who is 40 days old.Usually she is getting severe stomach pain and gas trouble Dr advised me to give her colicaid 2 to 5 drops according to the pain even though sometimes she is normal sometimes she is struggling a lot.Is it advisable to use gripe water for pain or can u give alternative medicine.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
If baby is gaining weight about 500 gms per month & passing clear watery urine, your baby is absolutely fine. Just give him comfort, love & support. Be along with him during distress,i.e.Crying. We can not always stop a crying child, we can't know the cause every time. World over all babies cry for no reason, at some or other times. Colicaid may or may not help. Don't blame yourself for inability to stop cry. Things will settle in matter of few months. That is a part of life, we can't avoid. Being with the child supporting, comforting, showering love during distress is the only way. That is optimum & enough.

Usually these kind a fever are of viral in origin. By their nature they produce high grade fever for 3 to 4 days and then resolve .however its always great to be in touch with your pediatrician to rule out other signs of non viral fever. Regards.

My kid is having dry cough. He vomited just now. And he is having cold feet n cold hands. His head is hot. What should I do?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
You have not mentioned the age of the child. Children usually vomit following a bout of cough. Children usually swallow sputum. Hence needs to be treated with an expectorant.

Your child needs a personal consultation with pediatrician to rule out any serious illness. If your child is having difficulty in breathing, bluish discoloration, not able to feed properly, poor activity then he needs urgent evaluation. Keep the child supported in upright/ semi reclined position while feeding, this will reduce chances of choking& regurgitation. Watch when your child cough, is there any relationship to feed, any allergy, any other symptom like fever, difficulty in breathing .sometimes occasional cough are normal.

Hello sir, my niece is one year old and she is diagnosed with hernia in abdomen. It becomes prominent while she cries and she doesn't take interest in eating vomit frequently due to which she is becoming very thin and irritating. Is surgery the only option at such a young stage. Kindly recommend the solution. Thanks.

Pediatrician,
Need further information whether he started doing it recently or always has been like that. Does he have urine accidents in daytime too? make sure he drinks plenty of fluids in day time. No drinks 1 hour before bedtime. No tea/coffee/cocacola type drinks in evening. Treat constipation problem if it is there.

My daughter seems to b underweight vit just 13. 5 kg n she is about to complete her 6 yrs. She is in 1st standard and loads of studies n 6 hrs of school .she feels very tired when she comes from school. We like to have some increase in her weight. She takes food but not vit full heartedly .what can b done to Inc her weight n height.

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Delhi
I understand your anxiety about health of your daughter. She is expected to have a weight of 19-20 kg at this age. You also are disturbed about heavy load of studies. It will be ideal to keep a record of her diet in last 24 hours so that we can calculate her calories &protein intake. This is known as dietary recall. At this age she should take 3 meals with 2 times good quality snacks. Each meal should be 250gm .it should have v ariety of food items so that she gets carbohydrate, protein, fat ,minerals &vitamins in required amounts. Please observe food &hands hygeine & food should be given in a pleasant environment. She also needs medical check up to rule out any illness. The children are not supposed to be overloaded with studies at this tender age. Regards.

Since she is not able to swallow even liquid, she should be hospitalize immediately to maintain hydration, electrolytes and nutrition. 100 degree F temp is not so high. It can be manged by giving paracetamol but is not able to swallow.
