Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

U may be suffering from Periodontitis (Gum Disease). Which is usually aggravated by tobacco chewing. In Periodontitis the gum detaches from the tooth surface and forms deep crevices called as pockets. The treatment in such a case is Teeth cleaning and cleaning of the gums followed by evaluation of the status of bone that holds the teeth. Normally if no further hairline fractures it stays since you have not given details as to when it happened or the x-ray it's difficult to predict but if initially ok for about a wk it can b there as normal.

You should eat less but more frequently rather than filling your stomach in lunch or dinner. Take something or the other (fruit/salad/green tea/marie biscuit/milk/roasted chana) after every two hours. Cut down your breakfast, lunch and dinner by 25 %. Do not take any heavy snacks as you are eating in every two hours. Do some jiogging or play a sport like cricket or lawn tennis for atleast half an hour.

Hi, I am a 26-year-old male, height 5 feet 10 inches, weight 82 kg. For the past two months I have been experiencing shortness of breath. I used to smoke, but quit about 6 months ago. One month ago I consulted a cardiologist regarding this and had an ECG, Echo, and blood work. Medical history: Intestinal obstruction surgery in 2008 ECG result: 1. Suspected left ventricular hypertrophy. 2. ST- segment elevation (anterior) As the ECG was abnormal the doctor did an echo and the findings were normal. Echo Result: LVID> 26/40 IVS> 15/13 PW> 15/10 EF>66% LA 33 AO 28 Mitral Valve DE 20 EF>0.13mm/sec Doppler Flow AO systolic> 1.30M/sec Mitral E/A 0.78/0.88 M/sec Blood Work: Normal thyroid function and lipid profile. The cardiologist told me everything is normal, but still I am experiencing shortness of breath even at rest so I would like to clear these doubts: 1. Is the thickness of my left ventricle normal? 2. The ECG showed ST-segment elevation. Based on echo results does it mean that I still have an elevated ST-segment. If yes, then should I be concerned about it? 3. These tests were done a month ago, apart from shortness of breath I do not have any symptoms of CHF so I would like to know can CHF occur suddenly? It would be greatly appreciated if you will clear these doubts of mine. Thank you so much.

Dear Lybrate User, Increasing weight does not mean that you will go fatty. In fact, extra fat serves as a precursor of many diseases. In order to increase your weight as well as stay healthy you have to increase the muscle mass of your body. Normally a muscle undergoes an increase in size when it gets hypertrophied due to weight training. Weight-training leads to the pumping of blood to the muscle resulting in increased protein synthesis in the muscles. This applies to every muscles of human body. So, weight training is a must to increase weight. Whenever a muscle gets hypertrophied it demands protein to expand. Here comes the need of excess protein in our diet. Many people replenish the demand of extra protein by taking protein supplements. The most effective protein supplement is WHEY protein. Body-builders take supplements according to a fixed schedule. They take 40 grams of whey just after waking from sleep at morning. They take another 20 grams of whey just 30 minutes before workout. Again they take 40 grams of whey just after finishing workout. Now you are a normal person & unless you have any intention to compete in bodybuilding competition you do not need to follow the above timings of whey protein. In fact you can get the extra protein from your diet only. Try to take 50- 70 grams of protein daily. That would be sufficient for your daily need. Excess protein produces excess harmful urea. Our kidney has to function more to excrete this excess harmful urea from our body. So excess creates excess pressure on our kidneys. For better reasons try to take protein from plant origin. Protein obtained from animal sources like meat & egg are found to play an important role in cancer. Kindly remember gaining weight is a time -taking process. So do not expect any result within fortnight.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, I would suggest that you go for a series of chemical peels under a dermatologist that will give you a faster and better result. You can also opt for creams and ointments but that would take a little longer to work.
