Alcohol is poisonous to the body. Diet: it is always important to watch your diet. You are what you eat. Eat what your body needs, reduce refined foods, processed foods and increase the amount of whole grains and fruits and vegetables. Eating small frequent meals goes a long way. Reduce intake of saturated fats; include more lean meats. Choose grilling and steaming over frying and roasting. Recommended foods - Healthy carbohydrates, Fiber-rich foods, Heart-healthy fish and Good fats. Foods to avoid - Saturated fats, Trans fats, Cholesterol and Sodium Exercise: Every week, make sure about 2 hours is dedicated to physical activity. This could include any exercise of your choice, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, aerobics, hiking, jogging, skipping, gymnastics, or playing games like football or basketball. While in most cases, the person can do these on their own, in some people, supervision may be required. Watch your weight: controlling weight to a desirable level of BMI of 18 and 23 is very important. Obesity is one of the predisposing factors for diabetes heart diseases, and reducing weight controls the onset of diabetes and helps the progression of symptoms in diabetics. Smoking: Another risk factor for diabetes onset, palpitation, sleeplessness.Quitting is the best option. If not feasible, reducing smoking and gradually quitting should be aimed at. Not just diabetes, the effects on overall health will be evident almost immediately after quitting. Stress management: there is no getting away from stress. Everybody has their stresses but the trick is to manage it well. Whether it is music or meditation or medication or counselling, make sure stress levels are managed. This also helps prevent complications like heart disease and stroke and promotes well-being.

My friend is 22 years old and has a habit of smoking and drinking sometimes and 2 days before he coughed up with little blood from his mouth and he is having pain in his throat .what might be the reason behind this .is it dangerous? i need your help.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, Clinical Elective
Psychiatrist, Jaipur
I think he should get a chest X ray done to rule out some problems. But coughing up blood should be taken seriously. It could be just pharyngitis or laryngitis, but more sinister cause of coughing up blood has to be ruled out. Consult a doctor in person as soon as possible.

The No-Scalpel vasectomy is a technique used to do the vasectomy through one single puncture. The puncture is made in the scrotum and requires no suturing or stitches. The primary difference compared to the conventional vasectomy is that the vas deferens is controlled and grasped by the surgeon in a less traumatic manner. This results in less pain and fewer postoperative complications. This procedure is done with the aid of a local anesthetic called ‘Xylocaine’ (similar to ‘Novocaine’). The actual interruption of the vas which is done with the No-Scalpel technique is identical to the interruption used with conventional techniques. The No-Scalpel technique is simply a more elegant and less traumatic way for the surgeon to control the vas and proceed with its interruption.

If you think its kind of thrush then please visit you dentist as thrush are many opportunistic infections and only happens when you immune system is depressed any major systemic infection. So go for routine blood investigations to rule out the underlying disease and you may also need to have help from physician also but only after reports of blood tests. Since it is communicable condition it is better to get treated before your marriage.
