Treating Lung Cancer With Ayurveda

Lungs are very important organs of your body as they play a pivotal role in respiration. Lung cancer refers to the gradual development of cancerous cells in the lungs.

Many common symptoms can help you to identify lung cancer. They are stated below:

  • Persistent cough
  • Change in your voice
  • Pain in the chest region
  • Breathing problem
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of weight and appetite
  • Sometimes a person may also cough up blood
  • Cough accompanied by a wheezing sound

Lung cancer is very fatal and has less chances of getting cured. However, ayurveda offers effective and natural remedies for treating lung cancer. They are mentioned as follows:

  1. Practice breathing exercises regularly: Breathing exercises can help you to deal with the problem of lung cancer in an effective manner.
  2. Quit smoking and avoid drinking alcohol: This is absolutely essential for treating lung cancer. Both smoking and consuming alcohol can cause severe damage to your lungs.
  3. Practice meditation. According to ayurveda, meditation is known to have great healing powers for any health problem. This can help you to cope up with cancer as well.
  4. Avoid junk foods and carbonated drinks: Consuming these foods frequently can worsen your condition.
  5. Massage therapy: Sometimes massage therapy can work wonders in ayurveda. Massaging certain essential oils can be very helpful.
  6. Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy can also prove to be effective in treating lung cancer. It is a procedure in which essential oils are not only used for massaging your body but also for inhaling.
  7. Ayurvedic herbs: There are many ayurvedic medicines and herbs also which can treat lung cancer efficiently.

Since lung cancer involves very less survival rate, it is of utmost importance that you go the doctor immediately once you start noticing any of the above mentioned symptoms.

Gargling with warm salt water is an effective way to treat a sore throat. Salt can even help kill the bacteria or virus causing pharyngitis. 1. Mix three teaspoons of salt (preferably sea salt) in two cups of warm water. 2. Gargle with this solution. Do not swallow it. Spit the water out after gargling. 3. Do this several times daily for one to two days.

I have always had a blocked nostril since many years & sinus problem every once in a while, so what are the ways of its treatment?

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Your symptoms are suggestive of a deviated nasal septum / enlarged inferior turbinates. These two are responsible for the sinus openings to get blocked & thereby leading to a sinus involvement. The sinus openings have to be open for the sinuses to be well aired. Get a ct scan of the sinuses to rule out which sinus is involved. A nasal endoscopy will pin point where exactly is the problem. This will be done by the ent surgeon. A medical or surgical line of treatment will be advised as per the findings on a nasal endoscopic examination.

I am suffering from tonsil for the last 3 days is it normal or should I take some medication.

MD - Medicine
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear lybrate user, cough for 3 days is not normal. Few more details regarding your cough (dry/ productive), fever if present, running nose if present, whether its disturbing your sleep, breathlessness if present, past episodes if any, etc. are required to prescribe medication. Meanwhile, till the time you seek consultation try warm salt water gargles in the morning and night and protect yourself from dust. Take care!

Hello I find it difficult to breathe especially when the weather is cold and I feel pains in my lungs that I can hear myself breathing. Please tell.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Since the body area that needs utmost attention is the chest, one should try to keep it warm. Use fomentation bottle to warm up the chest, upper back, and back side of the neck. Keeping your feet in warm water is also helpful. It has been found by the researchers that drinking 3 glasses of orange juice everyday can bring down wheezing to 70%. Steam helps relieve the symptoms of all the respiratory tract ailments. Throw a towel on your head to inhale steam from a mini sauna, for 10 minutes. Steam will humidify your respiratory passages, easing your breathing, that will help in looking after the wheezing.
