Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I need your detailed history and all relevant investigations because you have mentioned limb symptoms with frequent episodes of falling down as well. It usually happens with a cervical or a brain pathology, but you have been diagnosed as a peripheral neuritis case. Can you please send me your treatment papers and relevant investigations so that I can see and advise accordingly, because if it is peripheral neuritis or a brain issue, then a neurophysician is best doctor for your case. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Pain and numbness in sole of both legs can be due to: 1.Diabetic neuropathy 2. Vitamin B12 deficiency 3.Sensory neuropathies. You need to go for tests like MRI scan of lumbosacral spine, Sugar levels and Vitamin B12 levels and consult a pain specialist or neurologist. Treatment will depend on underlying cause. Such conditions should not be ignored as gradual damage to nerves can be debilitating in future.

Sir, either you may have cervical spondylitis which is impinging your nerve and you are having problem regarding your finger or you may be suffering from a condition called carpal tunnel syndrome which also gives the same symptoms as that of spondylitis. In order to differentiate if you are having pain in and around your neck along with your symptoms then it could be spondylitis. If there is problem only with your thumb and index finger ie mostly gettig numb then it could be carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hi sir, I am suffering with fits from 2005, from past 4.5 years I am not facing any problem regarding the issue. The doctor I visit regularly shifted to other place. In staring I used eptoin 300mg-350mg, I am using levipil 500 mg twice a day from 2013 jan. Can I stop medication as I am not suffering with fits about 4.5 years or not, so that I will consult doctor after your opinion.

DNB (ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
As per standard protocols, there needs to at least 5 years of seizure free period before tapering and stopping medications. Newer protocols followed by some doctors believe in stopping medications even if there is 1 year of seizure free interval. It is best that you consult with your neurologist and let him decide on what is best for you.

I have seizures when I get stressed out. My doctor says I shouldn't be on seizure medication. My question should I be?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Seizure disorders are independent diseases and usually not precipitated only by stress. If you have recently started having seizures please check out whether you were on adderall then, and what dose you were taking. Though less common adderall can decrease seizure thresholds and cause fits. Consult a physician for opinion.
