I am 24 years old and having health related issue. I frequently get ulcers in mouth when I eat heavy food or banana shake etc. My diet is very low making me unhealthy. What medicines or precautions should I take to be healthy. My friend suggest me to take cobadex tablet but I am not sure about it.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Mouth ulcers are self limiting, which means they heal naturally by themselves. To ease the pain you cud by a topical anaesthetic gel and apply it before eating anything spicy. Please do not self prescribe any medications as it might at times delay the healing of the ulcer. Try to reduce the stress, avoid carbonated drinks, and citrus fruits and juices containing citric acid, avoid lemon with food and keep yourself hydrated.

Hai, I am 34 years old, married, woman. My problem is that my husband has bad breath. Though he never smoke nor drinks. When ever he comes close to me my moods gets off due to the odd smell from his mouth. I talked to him about this, but he never convince rather he says I don't love him if I love him then it shouldn't bother me, he doesn't do anything to cure his problem. Our sex life is getting affected. What should I do?

Hello lybrate-user sorry to hear regarding this problem. Im sure it's a put off and you need to motivate your husband. Don't worry here are the reasons for bad breath bad breath or called as" halitosis" there are various reasons for bad breath. First of all update your medical history as the problem could be elsewhere in your body but will be shown as bad breath through your mouth as mouth being the gateway for your complete system. Apart from that there might be local soft or hard deposits on your teeth which can cause bad breath. This might need professional cleaning by the dentist your teeth might be not well aligned, which we call as" crowded" teeth which makes its challenging for you to keep it clean. So consult an orthodontist (specialist for braces) to align your teeth. Your health of the gums might be compromised which also leads to bad breath. Consult a periodontist for gum problems. Your teeth might have cavities where the food can get lodged and might lead to bad breath. Consult your dentist for this. Inspite of regular cleaning and brushing it might be difficult for you to get a fresh breath. As I mentioned above your dentist will tell you exactly the problem areas. Make sure you do your part well. Regular brushing of your teeth twice daily regular flossing of your teeth (which means cleaning between your teeth by means of floss) clean your tongue gently as it can harbour bacteria causing bad breath stay away from tobacco related habits consume a lot of water and stay hydrated. As dry mouth also leads to bad breath. Please do not use mouth washes if not prescribed by your dentist as they have their own side effects which would be a negative to your oral health. Pay a visit to your dentist every 6 months or earlier for routine cleaning as suggested by your dentist.

Several grayish black discolouration inside the mouth in the areas of upper jaw and inside the cheeks. Tartar formation on the left side of the jaws in the teeth. Can you please tell the reason for the discolouration and patches formed as well as the tartar and the treatment for the following?

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS
Homeopath, Vadodara
The tartar formation is normal and everybody has that in more or less quantity and needs to be removed by a dentist with proper procedure or else it will cause dental caries. The Grayish spots can be diagnosed mostly after proper case as history of any disease or smoking or any other symptoms are required.

I am 23 years old. My jaw is paining from last 3 days. I have consult a doctor but still not working. He told me a new teeth is coming.. please help me.

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
At your age there is possibility of third molars (wisdom teeth) erupting. Sometimes due to lack of space, these erupting teeth cause pressure leading to pain. If there is no enough space for these teeth, it will cause food lodgement and infection in gums (pericoronitis). You may need to get x ray done to check for the space available for this tooth, 1. If there is space, you can go for conservative treatment like cleaning and medications 2. If there is no space, you need surgical removal of this tooth.

Smoking or consuming smokeless tobacco is very harmful for your teeth. It can lead to various oral diseases like oral cancer, gingivitis, periodontists and tooth decay.

I am 23 years old, and I am suffering from gums bleeding from last so many years (approx 7-8 years). My teeth are also yellow in color.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical gum strengthening treatment, whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

I have a pain in my teeth the pain is very harmful for me and my teeth become black and my teeth is aso in danger so what should I do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

My gums are swollen and bleed at times. What is this and what shoul I do to counter it? im a regular smoker. These days I have a foul breath too. Pleawe respond.

BDS (GOLD MEDALIST)
Dentist, Jamshedpur
You have gum disease known as gingivitis with plaque deposition. Scaling will help you in this regard. Use crest toothpaste to control plaque. Smoking can also lead to foul smell. Try to quit this habit as this can cause lots of dental and oral problems rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash three times a day after each meal.

My teeth and gums are not stopping for out of blood. What should I do for that problem? Please tell me now because my mouth is paining me.

MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist, Madurai
Bleeding of gums occurs due to vit. C deficiency. Kindly do take food rich in vit. C like lemon, orange. The other aspect of this bleeding may be inflammation or swollen gums, for which you probably need a scaling.

Dear lybrate-user, apke jo daant toote the accident mein wo permanent daant the, milk teeth nhi. Wo dobara nhi ate. Isilie apko artificial teeth hi lgwane padenge, jinhe bridge kehte hain. Har dentist ke alag charges hote hain bridge lgane ke. But average cost is rs 2000 per tooth. Ap implant bhi lgwa sakte hain but wo treatment thoda mehenga hai, about 10000-12000 per tooth.

When I talk to someone my saliva came out again and again please tell me what to do ?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation Physiological Pregnancy Local causes Oral inflammation- teething Infection ?oral cavity infection, dental caries, tonsillitis, peritonsilar abscess Systemic Toxin exposure- pesticides, mercury, capsaicin, snake poisoning Medication ?tranquilizers, anticonvulsants, anticholinesterases, lithium Neuromuscular ?cerebral palsy, Parkinson?s disease, motor neuron disease, bulbar/ pseudobulbar palsy, Stroke Infection- rabies Gastric- gastroesophageal reflux Advance procedures can be done with laser.DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.
