This is recommended for routine oral administration for all infants as a 3-dose series. The usual schedule is at ages 2, 4, and 6 months. Rotarix (GlaxoSmithKline) is recommended as a 2-dose series at ages 2 and 4 months. It can be given even if it is 2.5 months now.

Presuming that your baby is gaining weight adequately I shall not worry about one or two vomits in a day. In case there is no weight gain then further evaluation shall be required.

My son is 6 months baby I came recently from San Francisco.I dint use any medicine for stomach but here in India evyone recommend neopeptine n gripe water to be given twice a day compulsorily.Cn I giv that both at a time?n how much quantity.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
Gripe water as the name implies is given to a baby if he cries a lot because of gas which causes stomach pain ( gripe ). If your child is okay you need not give him gripe water. Give it only if child is crying too much due to gas.

My daughter has just completed 7 years n last 2 weeks she is complaining while bathing that her nipples r paining even I can observe that her breast portion is growing. In this case what should I do?

MD Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Hyderabad
This is a normal process of growth and development. Need not panic and need not intervene too much just ignore it. As the child is attaining menarche its a part of development of secondary sexual characters like growth of breasts/nipples. Just counsel the child about this and be calm and patient, it will subside soon!

It happen very often but only when I watch television or listening to music and sometime during reading. Please let me know if there is anything serious.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, as per your queries, it seems you should get a hearing check up done. As per your childeren, they are quiet right on their point as, it seems you hv got a high frequencies hearing loss, where you can miss sounds like bell, door bell, telephone ring etc. It is purely due to ageing or could be due to some associate problem like high b. P, increased blood sugar or could be due to thyroid also. It is necessary to done a hearing test very soon. After that further step can be taken.

Weight gain is best parameter to assess such problems. These phenomon may be normal rather problems or disease and require no medicines. If her wt is about 7 kg, no need to worry. Self medication may be harmful. You may consult doctor.

My daughter is 2 yrs old so now I want to stop feeding but she doesn't agree and she screams like anything so can I get some solution?

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), Pediatric Gastroenterology
Pediatrician, Delhi
It can be very difficult to stop breast feeding suddenly. You have to be firm and very persuasive. Tell her that she is now a big girl and offer her her a variety of interesting food, snack items specially when she is hungry and keep her diverted from the breast. Basically see that she does not remain hungry. Also, you can have some children come and play at home with her to distract her at feed times, or you can take her out to play. Children also crave for breast for remaining close to mother, feeling secure and safe. Offer her more hugs and cuddles and say how she can drink with a new sipper, how she can use a straw. Make the change over an interesting fun activity. But be firm, and determined and be ready to face a few tears.

Negative Effects Of Mobile Phones On Teenagers!

Negative Effects Of Mobile Phones On Teenagers!

The most advanced and effective communication device in this century is mobile phone. Mobile phone is not only being used by the corporate or highly qualified professional. People from all type of social group have mobile phone in their hands now. Usage of the mobile phone is not increased only with all social groups but also with people of all age groups. Children are the more noticeable group as they are using cell phones of all types. A recent research study shows that children are really capable of using any advanced type of mobile phones even without any proper guidance. Though mobile phones are the effective mode of communication, it is a well known fact that it also has adverse side effects if being over used. The mobile phones emit shockwave radioactive radiations that affect the body in various manners.

Adverse effects of mobile phone usage:

Today's children are growing up in a radio-frequency environment that never existed in human history before. The radiation emitted by mobile phones and mobile phone masts can have adverse effects on children. Some include:

  1. Affects your Immunity Status: cell phones after a full day usage contains many germs on their display which are highly numbered than your toilet seats. These germs are easily transferred to your body as you touch frequently or use close to your face for talking. This increases the risk of exposure to the germs and reduces your immune strength as immune status are not fully developed for children.
  2. Increase Risk of Chronic Pains: prolonged use of mobile phones for playing games or texting requires continuous movement for your hands which may develop chronic pain in joints of your shoulders and hands.
  3. Vision Problem: children when concentrate much on playing games in mobile phone they even fail to blink frequently with the increased interest and attraction towards the game. This causes the dryness of the conjunctiva and also increases the ocular tension.
  4. Affects your emotions negatively and increases the stress level

Mobile Phone Safety For Kids:

As a parent, you must take preventive measures to minimize your child's exposure to the harmful effects of mobile phones. These include:

  • Do not give cell phone if your child is under 16 years. A child's brain is too sensitive to withstand the effects of mobile radiation.
  • Do not let your child hold a mobile phone directly up to his head. Use an air-tube headset instead.
  • Do not let your child make calls in buses, trains, cars, and elevators. The mobile phone works harder to get the signal out through the metal, which increases the power level.
  • Do not let your child use cell phone when the signal is weak. It will increase the power to the maximum, as the phone attempts to connect to a new relay antenna.
  • Limit the use of cell phone around children.
  • Make sure that there is no mobile phone mast or network tower near your home or your kid's school.
  • Do not let children take mobile phones to school.
  • Do not leave mobile phones in your children's bedroom at night. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a psychologist.

If baby of 1 month is doing pooh continuously 4 to 5 times a day ?what does Mom should eat so that baby gets protein?

If baby of 1 month is doing pooh continuously 4 to 5 times a day ?what does Mom should eat so that baby gets protein?
Hi! One month old baby passing stool 4 to 5 times is normal. When baby is breast fed it automatically gets required amount of protein. However if you eat healthy & avoid junk food you can improve the quality of your breast milk. Your diet should contain milk, dairy products, soy, pulses, fish, chicken, egg, nuts & lots of fresh vegetables and fruits.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician,
Properly hydrate the baby with ors solution. That may be due to viral infection. As most of the watery diarrhea can be due to viral infection. Start zinc 20 mg daily for 14 days.

Homeopath,

It may be because the milk might have not reached her tummy and that is why the residual milk comes out.it is not much of a concern but you need to make the baby burp after every feed by holding him upright until you hear him burp.this is important.and always hold him in an angle where his head is always tilted up while feeding.
