You need to continue with the medication. But along with that I suggest that you attend a lot of counselling too in tandem. You have not been dealing with your fears for a long time, perhaps. All unexpressed feelings will find some other way of expressing itself in the body. These will lead to psychological problems of various kinds. You need to be trained in dealing with emotions and retain it as an ongoing process in life. Meet a counselor and get some guidance in this regard. In the meantime, please follow an exercise regiment, eat well and keep good company. Every time you feel fear talk to someone about it. Do some deep breathing, with your left nostril shut, and you will immediately calm down. If it gets too much, place your index finger on your shut lips and puff up your cheeks tightly with air and hold it for some time. The back pressure of the air will press the vagus nerve at the rear of the throat and immediately reduce the heart rate to calm you down.

You should follow doctor's advice. If you are ever doubtful, go for a second opinion and clear your doubts. Doctors ill take a few weeks to determine what dose and medications suit you. when they reach that level, it is considered the optimum dose suitable for you and may retain you on that dosage until required. Even when weaning you off of your medication, they will reduce it gradually so that you don't have any adverse reaction. Make your last meal, as far as possible, a pure carbohydrate meal. Eat early and make it a small meal too. Avoid all foods that cause flatulence. Sleep on your left ear most of the night. Every time you feel fear talk to someone about it. Do some deep breathing, with your left nostril shut, and you will immediately calm down. If it gets too much, place your index finger on your shut lips and puff up your cheeks tightly with air and hold it for some time. I am only suggesting this because you say the anxiety is mild.

Hi,

You need to talk to your doctor and she will accordingly consider an increase in the dosage or change odd medicines. Relying only on medication is not a good idea. You should go for counselling inn tandem with the medicine. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do yoga meditation exercises, spend time in nature or gardening, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do calisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Sir, I am suffering from anxiety, phobia,i taking pari cr 25 and zapiz 0.25

My concern is that you are not seeking any help from therapy. You must go for counseling soon. Counseling will help in training you will skills and techniques to cope with the daily challenges in life and will give you a fair chance to manage your life. You must also develop your constitution to make it fit enough to cope with fear, felt many times unnecessarily. You may be taking normal fear and converting it into abnormal fear like anxiety and so on. Take care of the following: mental stability can be achieved by learning a few skills in handling emotions in an appropriate manner. Stress management skills, which have a lot to do with expressing emotions, will need to be a major part of your recovery program. Emotionally you need the help of a counselor and that will help you tremendously to move from anxiety to normal fear. Please persevere and cooperate through all the support you need and you will come through successfully. Develop your body’s health by physical fitness through exercise, good rest (sleep), and a proper diet. Any way what you need to focus on is to do vigorous exercise of the aerobic kind for the heart’s fitness; meditation for the brain’s fitness; sleep for a well rested mind and body; a sound spiritual well being for good confidence and stability; and a diet with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Vigorous exercise, especially of the callisthenic kind, will make your heart, which is a muscle, grow larger; and then your heart will need to beat less often and you will respond to the anxiety with a calmer disposition. If your mind, constitution, and your emotions are in check and fit, you will never be disturbed again. The earlier you tackle this, the easier it is going to be.

I'm a very religious person, I believe in god and worship whole heartedly. But whenever I pray my mind tells me not to believe god and asks really god exists? Really I'm worrying for thinking bad about god like this, I'm taking medicines for ocd, taking fluoxetine 80 mg and respidon 1 mg. Why my mind thinks like that even though I have belief in god. Please help me.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd, Transactional Analysis
Psychologist, Bangalore
Obviously if you have ocd, your mind will question the authenticity of almost everything. Having the thought is in itself not a bad thing, it is the indulgence in them that could influence you negatively. So learn to dismiss them as part of the ocd. Keep the faith and persevere in it till it is predominant and strong. Meet with a counselor also and then if that person recommends another psychiatrist for whatever reason to deal with this issue, do visit one as soon as possible. Please take your parents with you to determine the possible developmental issues that may have contributed to this condition. This is a fear-based condition and for some reason you have not been dealing with this childhood fear which has now developed unto these repetitive adaptations to seem to need it for normal functioning. The behavior will then become based on magical thinking and certain rituals will become necessary to do normal things making you believe that either the frequency or the ritual is important to its success. This of course is a fallacy but there will come a time that even if told the truth, your belief will defy any logic and you will continue behaving like that even if it cripples you in your daily routines. It only appears as though some other force is behind these behaviors and that you are compelled to act in this fashion. That is obviously not true but no one can convince you of anything different. The obsession is a repeating thought pattern with no meaningful outcome; and the compulsiveness is the need to act on those obsessions also in a repeated behavior pattern as though you just cannot help yourself. This is all driven by fear and when you are frustrated with it, you will escalate anger over it. Doubt, insecurity, uncertainty, and lack of firm memory will all plague you and increase stress. There are certain behavioral techniques to be implemented and if they work you may get out of this condition rather easily. If that does not work as desired, then medication has to be introduced, and in combination with counseling much work can be achieved.

These adaptations are not good for you. You must go out and meet real people, including girls, and live in the real world. The make-believe life is a fantasy and in time that will frustrate you to high levels of distress. You will get angry and turn the anger inwards to take you to depression and self-destructive thoughts. You can finally end up depressed and anxious. The final test of a personality is in the social context. If you do well there, life will change marvellously for you. Attend courses for personality development, public speaking skills, mix with the opposite sex and socialize a lott.

If you are pulling your hair out naturally it will fall excessively. You may be suffering from OCD and compulsively doing that. You need to get some help with handling OCD and this habit will stop. In the meantime you can wash your hair less often and when you do you must massage your scalp with your fingertips with a rotational movement. Your OCD is fear-based and if you learn how to handle your emotions you will reduce your stress and that will also prevent hair loss.
