Acute hepatitis B infection lasts less than six months. Your immune system likely can clear acute hepatitis B from your body, and you should recover completely within a few months. Most people who acquire hepatitis B as adults have an acute infection, but it can lead to chronic infection. Chronic hepatitis B infection lasts six months or longer. When your immune system can't fight off the acute infection, hepatitis B infection may last a lifetime, possibly leading to serious illnesses such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. The younger you are when you get hepatitis B — particularly newborns or children younger than 5 — the higher your risk the infection becoming chronic. Chronic infection may go undetected for decades until a person becomes seriously ill from liver disease. Interferon alfa-2b (Intron A) Antiviral medications. i.e. lamivudine

I am 23 year old female. I am having pain in the right side of my abdomen for the past four months. Sometime the pain will give me a feel like pinching. please suggest me.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
If it is at lower right side of abdomen it could be chronic appendicitis. If it is right upper abdomen there may be due to affliction of gall bladder or liver. Sometimes ureteric stones produce pain in a particular area on either side if abdomen. Best will be to carry out an ultra sonography of the abdomen in empty stomach.

I am 29 years male, I am suffering from pain in my liver and around liver, sometimes I also feel pain in my lower and upper back side of the body, and my stomach also hurts when I eat or drink something, I have a pain in my knee too, is it a symptoms of some serious disorder, please suggest me some medication or some preventive checkups so that I can make sure of my disease if I have any, thanks for your valuable time,

These symptoms suggest that you might be suffering from indigestion. Just watch your diet. Stop all heavy foods & try to have simple easily digestible foods like khichdi, soups etc. Have your dinner by 7 pm latest. You can try 1 tsp of castor oil at bedtime with a glass of lukewarm water. Take it for a few days. Once you are fine. Take it alternate days & then every 2-3 days. I think it will help you. But taking early dinner will solve most of your problems.

Dear Lybrate User, *Drinking warm water relives gas related problems. *Not many people know that warm water acts as a potent potion to cleanse your body by flushing out harmful toxins through your sweat and urine. This in turn flushes out the toxins trapped in your body. *Drinking warm water, especially during your meals helps in the digestion of the food you eat by speeding up in the breakdown process. It also enhances digestion and helps maintain the electrolyte and mineral balance in your body. Moreover, drinking warm water on an empty stomach also improves bowel movements and constipation

Once my stool became very hard due to taking many antibiotics for stool disturbance and my anus very badly affected due to passing hard stool. There was several tiny fissures and three big fissures in my anus. After occurring these fissures when I went toilet for second bowel movement then what a burning sense in my anus it seems to me that someone put chilly and salt in my anus and after every motion about 5 ml blood comes out. Though the severe burning sense stop after three days but coming blood is continue after motion. This took 40 days to heal the anus completely. Then again after 3 months my stool becomes little hard and then again several tiny fissures and some deep fissures come and again burning ,pain, blood coming. Is this normal fissure? Because anal fissure generally one which is situated posterior midline but for me why multiple fissure? Why it is coming again and again after complete healing if stool becomes little hard occasionally? I want a permanent cure from it. Pls help me. At present I am taking high fibre diet and drinking lot of water to keep the stool soft but I want a permanent cure from it at any cost so that fissures does not come after hard motion. Is it possible by any surgery? Pls help in details I want a permanent cure not temporary healing.

The problems you face are: a) Chronic Persistant constipation and you have to get rid of it with diet control.\it includes high fibre diet, good protein in diet, and low fat and low carbohydrayes. This needs to be implemented immediately\nd c\rried on always. Properly done surgery with a good lateral sphinctorotomy will constitute a cure in about 2 weeks. You should take Livoluk powder 3 tsp in 2 glasses of water. Drink lot of water. Your case looks advanced and \i would recommend immediate surgery after a surgeon sees you
