Dear sir, as you are 70yrs old and having back pain, i only suggest you to take a walk early morning for about 10 mins. apply diclofenac ointment for pain following with heat therapy. with little back strengthening excercises your pain will reduce. try to maintain correct posture.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If you have pain alone with no associated swelling, skin redness or warmth, fever etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp, serum uric acid levels. Get them done empty stomach and send reports across to me. Once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

whatever damage to vetebrae has done cant be recovered, to stop further damage to joints and strengthen range of motion and muscle strengthgo for physiotherapy. - take care of precautions - 1avoid bending of neck too much continously. 2 take hot fermentation specially at night to releive muscular pain 3 use of cervical collar while travelling to avoid jerky movement. 4 do regular neck exercises

BRAMARI PRANAYAM is the answer.After coming home after a hectic school do this pranayam for 5 minutes and you will feel relaxed. BRAMARI PRANAYAM or Bee Breath 1.Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. 2.Place your thumbs in your ears, your index fingers above your eyebrows, and your remaining along the sides of your nose. Keep each pinky finger near a nostril. 3.Breath in deeply through the nose. First, feel the diaphragm move down, allowing the lungs to expand and forcing the abdomen out; then feel your chest expand with your collar bones rising last. .4.Use your pinkies to partially close each nostril. Keep your lungs filled. .5.Breathe out through the nose while humming. Reason of back pain in this age wil b because of any injury or stess, weakness of back muscle, deficiency of nutrients. Please check your calcium and vit d level. Do some isometric back exs. Go for walk.

My mother (58+ yrs) is currently under treatment for Hypothyroidism (Eltroxin 50 mcg), Hypertension (Olmezest 20 mg) & Osteoarthritis (stage-2) in knee joints. Since past couple of days, she feels cramp on the right foot, which pains specially during walking, rather than resting positions. She had applied 'Oxalgin Nanogel' but the pain seems to increase gradually. Although there is no swelling on the foot or ankle, but the veins of the foot look more prominent than normal. She had faced similar problems (on either left or right foot but not both) 5-6 times in past 3-4 months, but had never happened before. Is it simply a muscle cramp or, something serious (e.g. Related to heart, kidney or liver issues) ?

This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Simple knee exercises would help to strengthen the quadriceps muscle which is the key muscle. Specific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping a soft ball underneath the knee and you have to keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. That might be due to knee pain or it might be due to ankle pain. Our suggestion would be to do hot water fermentation along with cold (ice) therapy. You shall also keep a pillow under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. Varicose veins are due to dilated, inflamed veins where there is reverse blood flow in the lower legs due to heavy density of blood. You can wear stockings to improve the blood circulation, can do leg massage using castor oil which pumps the blood and improves the blood circulation.

Hello Prolonged working on laptop/TV/mobile can cause computer vision syndrome. Computer vision syndrome is a condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for, uninterrupted periods of time. Some symptoms of cvs include a. Headaches b blurred vision c. Neck pain d redness in the eyes e. Eye strain f dry eyes sometimes watery eyes these symptoms can be further aggravated by improper lighting conditions. Measures to reduce this include 1. Work under proper light. 2. Blink a lot. 3. Cold compresses 4. Use good lubricating eyedrop 5. Keep neck straight while working on laptop or mobiles.

Get and x ray of cervical spine. Keep your posture straight while sitting and working on computer have back support while sitting in chair. Do not use pillow while sleeping do not move your neck much you can use cervical collar do for 5 days and contact for medicine if required good luck.

Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. -a physiotherapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, heel pain and your symptoms point towards possibility of heel spur (medically known as a calcaneal spur) treatment includes use of soft soles, warm water fomentation twice daily. And better to get calcium vitamin d 3 blood tests done.

Hello lybrate-user, continuously sitting for long hours in one position can certainly lead to pain in legs and back. It is necessary to stand up and maybe take a small walk every hour or two hours. Muscles in our body tend to get strained and cause pain.
