The tiny food particles left between the teeth at night play havoc. Do not forget to brush your teeth before you sleep. Brush twice a day to keep the dentist away!

I want suggestion from dentist. My molar teeth is broken down and a empty space is occurred. What could I have to do. Is there further complications if I will not focus on it.

BDS, Master of Hospital Administration
Dentist, Patna
yes the rest of your remaining teeth may migrate into the empty space and your teeth may have gaps in between. better get a tooth over there.

Sensitive Teeth

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Sensitive Teeth

Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you wince occasionally? If so, you may have sensitive teeth.

Possible causes include:

  • Tooth decay (cavities)

  • Fractured teeth

  • Worn fillings

  • Gum disease

  • Worn tooth enamel

  • Exposed tooth root

In healthy teeth, a layer of enamel protects the crowns of your teeth—the part above the gum line. Under the gum line a layer called cementum protects the tooth root. Underneath both the enamel and the cementum is dentin.

Dentin is less dense than enamel and cementum and contains microscopic tubules (small hollow tubes or canals). When dentin loses its protective covering of enamel or cementum these tubules allow heat and cold or acidic or sticky foods to reach the nerves and cells inside the tooth. Dentin may also be exposed when gums recede. The result can be hypersensitivity.

Sensitive teeth can be treated. The type of treatment will depend on what is causing the sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest one of a variety of treatments:

  • Desensitizing toothpaste. This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced.

  • Fluoride gel. An in-office technique which strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the transmission of sensations.

  • A crown, inlay or bonding. These may be used to correct a flaw or decay that results in sensitivity.

  • Surgical gum graft. If gum tissue has been lost from the root, this will protect the root and reduce sensitivity.

  • Root canal. If sensitivity is severe and persistent and cannot be treated by other means, your dentist may recommend this treatment to eliminate the problem.

Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive-tooth pain. Ask your dentist if you have any questions about your daily oral hygiene routine or concerns about tooth sensitivity.

Sir, my lower jaw have been fractured on 4.3.15 and the Dr. Had done the fixed wiring. Then I come to home from my work place. Then after 2 weeks. The thin wire holding the both jaws got loose. After 3 weeks doctor has removed the thin wire. But I am confused that my bone is healed or what. Would it will be normal?

BDS
Dentist, Jaunpur
That fixing is called imf its like plaster , when hand fracture occurs imf dont heal it only allows your bone to be in contact for natural healing process to occur so if your docter has removed plaster it means ur fracture is healed

Gap in between my front teeth suddenly created how to fix this problem I'm from chennai 23 year old.

BDS
Dentist, Faridabad
At this age the gap between the front teeth is unlikely, the main reason for this can be localized periodontitis of these teeth. It need to be check properly with clinical and radiographic examination before treatment planning so I advice you to please visit your dentist.

Hello thanks for the query reason for bad breath, blood from gums can be many but most common reason is accumulation of plaque and tartar on tooth surfaces. Which leads to swelling and smell from gums. Treatment for the same is scaling (teeth cleaning) and flap procedure for the same visit a periodontist (gum specialist dentist) he can help you better in this.

You have symptoms of oral submucous fibrosis. It is a precancerous lesion hence it is advisable for you to discontinue ghutka, supari, tobacco in any form. Also avoid green chellies and tomato seeds. Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently. Since few weeks i'm having bad breath. I consulted my dentist he clarified that I have no cavities. Bad breath is due to wisdom tooth which is trying come out. Is there anything by which I can get rid of bad breath?

BDS
Dentist, Raipur
Kindly get scaling done and use mouth wash twice daily for 15 days. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique. Also try to do warm saline gargles as this will keep the area around wisdom tooth free of any food accumulation and it will not cause any decay.

To avoid tooth decay and gum disease due to plaque build-up, daily flossing is highly recommended.

I am having a tooth problem. For the last 2 days, a foul smell is coming From my mouth, despite the fact, I have been brushing my teeth properly. Please help me out.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: - practice good oral hygiene. - brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. - don't forget to brush the tongue, too. - replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. - use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. - see your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. - drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. - chewing gum (preferably sugarless) stimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

I have a problem of bad breath, but it is not coming from mouth as it's always kept clean. Is this any sign of any digestive tract related problems?

BDS, CDE Endo-Prostho, CDE - Cast Partial & Complete Dentures
Dentist, Pune
Hello, bad breath could be because of digestive problems, it can be because of fasting, not eating for long hours, not drinking enough water, or if you are having acidity problem. It may be because of pungent eatables like garlic. But still get it checked by a dentist for any deposits and get it cleaned.

Last week I had sex with my girlfriend without safety (condom) and suddenly Tiny paper cut on outer part of foreskin (thought be herpes but I haven't got any infection on my mouth or lips as it happens with herpes, no tingling, itchiness on the cut as well) the cut has healed 80-90%. What it could be?

BDS
Dentist, Kanpur
If it is herpes it will not appear in oral cavity. This infection occurs in relation to the infected tissue and surrounding nerve pathways only. Please visit a skin specialist for treatment.
