If it has never happened before and it is not heavy I wouldn't worry too much. Instead monitor it and the next few cycles. If over the next few months you find that your cycle has changed, periods are becoming heavier/ painful or there is any bleeding during or after sex then please consult a gynaecologist.

Hello it appears to be a safe period if she is having normal 28 days cycle with bleeding for 3-4 days. Now there is no point in giving the pills as 5 days have already passed.

Can premature delivery be predicted? I have a friend who is very thin and is 5 months pregnant. The doctor has told that the fetus is not developing properly and there is a good chance that the child may be born with some disabilities. The doctor has given the approximate delivery date of December, where as she will be in her 9th month in February. I just wanted to ask whether doctor can predict such premature delivery?

Preterm delivery is birth occurring before 37 completed weeks of gestation. Preterm birth is the primary cause of morbidity and mortality in children especially if this occurs before 34 weeks of gestation. If preterm birth could be predicted and treated accordingly, this would greatly reduce mortality, morbidity and associated costs. There have been many attempts to develop an accurate and efficient method to predict preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) and preterm labor that leads to spontaneous preterm birth (SPB). However, the initial signs and symptoms are most often mild and may even occur in normal pregnancies, making early detection rather difficult. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the current methods employed in predicting preterm birth occurring due to preterm labor and PPROM. Among these methods are risk scoring systems, cervical/vaginal screening for fetal fibronectin, cervical assessment by ultrasonography, uterine activity monitoring, biomarkers such as endocrine factors, cytokines and enzymes, fetal DNA and genetic polymorphism. SPB is multifactorial, and so it is highly unlikely that a single test can accurately predict SPB. A combination of biological markers is also reviewed in the estimation of the risk of preterm delivery. Inaccurate measurement of cervical length or measurement at the wrong gestational ages has the potential to result in many false-positive results, which will lead to mistreatment and overtreatment of women. We do not want to have another clinical scenario similar to the rollout of fetal heart rate monitoring in which our testing has resulted only in increased maternal morbidity (ie, increased cesarean delivery) without a demonstrated improvement in neonatal outcome. Hence, pay good heed to the technique and timing of cervical length measuremen.

Bleeding can vary from month to month ,so if you want to confirm about pregnancy you will have to do a Urine pregnancy test. Since you already got your periods this time there is no chance of pregnancy.

Day 1 to day 7 and day 21 to rest of the cycle are known to be “safe days” or your “safe period”. The method is perfect only for women whose menstrual cycles are regular, i.e., 25 to 32 days cycles. This method is not completely reliable.

Hi. I need advice from female homeopathic doc. I am 27 year old girl and have been married for 11 months. I am facing this strange problem where while having intercourse I feel as if my vagina is shut, preventing the penetration. No matter how many times we try, it doesn't yield any result. I feel very sensitive down there (at certain point, while in the act) and also feel the problem is increasing as the time passes. Earlier it was not as sensitive but now I have to ask my husband to stop and lay still on me until that feeling subsides. After a lot of internet research, I feel I am suffering from vaginismus. I have had only 2-3 intercourse when the penetration happened successfully (which were around 4 months back) At that time I did not have any such sensitive feeling. After that it just used to get stuck at the vagina, not moving further in. But now the vagina just doesn't allow and as soon as I experience that sensation I have to ask my husband to stop and be perfectly still. Now I don't look forward to sex. Kindly diagnose and prescribe. I feel so low that all problems I have are of such nature where I cant even openly talk about them.

You are having what is called dyspareunia. I am not sure if homeopathy is an answer for you, as according to your history you might be having a narrow vaginal opening which might need surgical correcttion, or vaginal infection or lack of lubrication. There is a specific treatment of all of the above.
