You can do sex 5 days before start of periods and 5 days after end of periods. There are less chances of pregnancy in this time. Normal average duration of time during sex is 10 to 15 minutes. You can do sex is missionary position.

It is due to the ever growing problem of Acne and pimples that lead to the flooding of creams, lotions and face washes in the market to heal and cure Acne and pimples. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire on entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation.

Hi Monalisha if your follicle doesn't rupture then less likely you will get periods. If you are having PCOD and taking tablet Duphaston it is likely to get periods when you stop tablet as this tablet is to control period.

I had sex on 24th June, and my date is due on 27th June. I got a pinkish blood on 29th June. Is it implantation bleeding or is it due to ipill? And we had unprotected sex and I took ipill after 7 hours. Can I be pregnant? And later the period stopped.

It can be a withdrawal bleeding but in order to confirm whether you are pregnant or not you will have to wait for your due date to be missed and then it can be confirmed whether you have conceived. Ipills can never help you to terminate your pregnancy, they rather disturbs the harmonal balance and creates many side effects. For any further information or assistance you may get back to us.

Eat a diet less in calories, fats and sugars. So cut down on all fried foods, sweets, chocolates and junk stuff like pepsi, coke etc; increase the proteins in your diet like chicken, fish, dals, beans etc; replace white bread for brown bread or chappati. Have enough vegetables, fruits and water daily. In addition do regular exercise.

I am got pregnant today can you please tell me the best healthy diet plan like food, fruit and healthy supplement?
Hi, congratulations! Considering height and weight, you should gain around 9-11 kg in your Pregnancy. Best diet plan is eat whatever you like. First trimester you may feel lot of vomiting sensation. So better to have dry diet at morning. Second trimester onwards you can eat whavever you like. Do little exercises like walks. Supplements are dry fruits, fruits, as far as possible natural ways. Have milk and milk products. If possible consume 0.5-1litre milk per day, that gives you required calcium supplement. Get your tests done with your obstetrician and after your first three months are over meet dietician.

Hi lybrate-user, go for urine pregnancy test at earliest and if it turns positive, its good news for you and then you have to consult your doctor at earliest, because of spotting. If upt is negative, then either wait for freeflow of period or confirm by ultrasound/ beta hcg.

Physiology of Conception

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Advanced Infertility
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Play video

Hi, I am Dr Jayanti Kamath. I am an IVF consultant, practising at Srishti Fertility Care Center and Women's Clinic, Mumbai. So today, I will be talking about the physiology of conception or how babies are made. Before we begin I will tell you about few things about the female reproductive system.

So as you can see in this picture this is a picture of the uterus and these are the tubes, the fallopian tubes and this whitish structure over here it is called as ovary. Now this part is the vagina and this is the mouth of the uterus it is also called as the cervix so once again this is the uterus these are the fallopian tubes on either side this is the ovary this is the mouth of the uterus called as the cervix and this is the Vagina. so how babies are made first of all babies are made by the fertilization of an ovum or the female egg by a sperm from the male. So the female eggs are produced in a structure called as the ovary. So what happens every month, the egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube and the egg grows throughout his journey through the fallopian tube and after sexual intercourse, the sperms enter through the vagina and they meet the egg in the tube and the egg gets fertilized. It keeps on growing and then the embryo or the baby gets implanted inside the uterus and this baby grows up till nine months till the woman delivers. So this is the physiology of conception now why is this important cause when a woman cannot conceive there can be problems in this entire process. For example where the egg is manufactured that is the ovary.

There can be a problem in the ovary, the woman can have a hormonal imbalance such as polycystic ovarian disease where many eggs are produced but they do not grow or they do not become mature then there can be cysts in the ovary such as endometriotic cyst or any other cyst so these are the problems with the ovary. Then coming to the tubes. If there is any blockage in the tubes the oocyte or the XL will not be able to reach the sperm.

Why the blockage occurs?

Blockage can occur due to any infection called as pelvic inflammatory disease or tuberculosis which is a very common disease in our country. So because of that, the tubes can get blocked. So once the tubes are blocked the oocyte has a problem in meeting the sperm, then the main region that is the inside of the uterus, so there can be problems there also. There Can be fibroids, there can be a septum, there can be polyps or there can be the uterus itself can become a tumour called as adenomyosis. So these are the uterine problems which interfere with conception. Now coming lower down there is a mouth of the uterus which is very important. Suppose the mouth of the uterus is closed or there is a very narrow space over there then again the sperms will have difficulty in entering the uterus.

So these are the various problems in the female reproductive system which interfere with conception.

For more information about this or if you have a problem in conceiving please consult me at lybrate.com.

Thank you.

Calcium in your child's diet

BDS, Diploma in Hospital Administration, Diploma in Pharmacy
Dentist, Delhi
Calcium in your child's diet
Calcium is crucial for good health and development.Calcium is vital for building strong bones and teeth, promoting nerve and muscle function, helping blood clot, and activating the enzymes that convert food into energy. About 99 percent of the body's calcium is stored in the teeth and bones. And because children are growing new bone all the time, they need a steady supply of calcium to support healthy growth.

How much calcium does your child need?

Ages 1 to 3 years: 700 milligrams (mg) per day

Ages 4 to 8 years: 1,000 mg per day

Your child doesn't have to get the recommended amount of calcium every day. Instead, aim for that amount as an average over the course of a few days or a week.

The best sources of calcium

Dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese are some of the best sources of calcium, but you'll also find it in some unexpected places. Here are some calcium-rich foods to try:

1/4 cup raw tofu prepared with calcium sulfate: 217 mg (The calcium content of tofu varies, depending on how it's processed. Check the label.)
1/2 cup plain yogurt: 207 mg
1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses: 172 mg
1/2 cup fruit yogurt: 122 to 192 mg
1/2 cup calcium-fortified orange juice: 133 to 250 mg
1/4 cup ricotta cheese: 167 mg
1/2 cup milk: 150 mg
1/2 cup chocolate milk: 144 mg
1/2 ounce Swiss cheese: 112 mg
1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt, soft-serve: 102 mg
1/2 ounce cheddar cheese: 102 mg
1 slice whole grain bread: 24 mg
1/2 ounce mozzarella cheese: 103 mg
1/4 cup collard greens: 66 mg
1/4 cup homemade pudding (from mix or scratch): 76 mg
1 tablespoon tahini (sesame seed butter): 64 mg
1/4 cup turnip greens: 50 mg
1/4 cup cooked spinach: 60 mg
1/2 cup calcium-fortified cereal (ready to eat): 51 mg
1/2 cup calcium-fortified soy beverage: 40 to 250 mg
The amount of calcium a food contains varies somewhat, depending on the brand, the size of the fruit or vegetable, and so on. Kids may eat more or less than the amounts shown, depending on their age and appetite. Estimate the nutrient content accordingly.

Calcium content isn't affected by fat, but the dietary fat in dairy products plays an important role in your child's development. Children younger than 2 need to get half their calories from fat for healthy growth and brain development, so they should eat only full-fat dairy products. But unless your doctor advises otherwise, children older than 2 need to get fewer calories from fat, so they should eat low-fat or nonfat dairy products to maintain a healthy weight.

Tips for maximizing your child's calcium intake

Some experts believe that many children are falling short of their calcium requirement. This could be partly because juice and other nondairy drinks are so popular that kids are drinking less milk. Here are some simple steps you can take to make sure your child gets enough calcium:

Use milk instead of water when preparing cereal, hot cocoa, and soup.
Use evaporated milk in place of regular milk in recipes – it has twice the calcium of regular milk.
Add yogurt to fruit salads; nonfat milk powder to pancake batter, sauces, and smoothies; and cheese to vegetables, sauces, and mashed potatoes.
Buy calcium-fortified juice, bread, and cereal.
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium, so make sure your child gets enough vitamin D – about 600 international units (IU) per day.
Can your child get too much calcium?

An extremely high level of calcium in the blood is usually due to an underlying medical condition rather than consuming too much calcium in food and supplements. The Institute of Medicine recommends that kids age 1 to 8 get no more than 2,500 mg of calcium daily – that's roughly the equivalent of eight 8-ounce glasses of milk. While it's a good idea to keep an eye on how much calcium your child gets from her diet, it's unlikely that she will get too much calcium from food alone.

Calcium supplements, on the other hand, can sometimes be a problem. For instance, taking excess calcium supplements has been linked to a higher risk of kidney stones.

Since you are not staying with your husband for longer duration, this is a reason that you did not conceived. One month duration for conceiving is short duration, as in that duration you might not be ovulating, so it can not be consider in infertility. So you need to stay for a longer time with your husband.

Hai. Your HSG shows pelvic tuberculosis. Laparoscopy may even show pelvic adhesions and tubercles over the uterus, tubes, etc. It is mandatory to take anti-tuberculous treatment (ATT). But, your stomach should be healed of acid peptic disease thoroughly before starting ATT. Also, you may require to be on bland, soft, frequent diet with plenty of fluids during the who'e treatment. Distal hydrosalphinx means minimal damage already. If it heals, and if the tubes function, you may conceive naturally with a 30-40% possibility of tubal pregnancy. If tuberculosis is not treated even IVF, ignoring the tubes can be a failure due to seepage of diseased fluid from the tubes into the uterus which prevents implantation of embryo. Best wishes.
