No - Why Saying it is Healthier at Times?

Psychologist, Chennai
No - Why Saying it is Healthier at Times?

'No' appears to be a very simple and straightforward word. However, it can be shockingly hard to say. People most of the time agree to things that they really do not want. Since they would preferably feel overburdened and low rather than disappoint somebody, saying "no" feels easier to maintain connections with people.

The repercussions of this absence of disagreement is critical. By overcommitting ourselves, we are actually consuming the majority of our positive energy and using it somewhere where you might not want to. This takes away from our common character and quality. It leaves us tired and we meet each day like it is simply one more battle. We also give up our own requirements for space, stillness, relaxation and imagination and are bound to our state.

To stay away from this, we must know about our own necessities and priorities for both mental and physical well-being and joy. For this, one may have to know when saying "yes" will fulfill your requirement for rest, relaxation or self-awareness. When one does this, their unfounded dread of not being socially acceptable from saying "no" will go away gradually.

Here are three reasons why saying "no" can prove to be beneficial:

  1. You will have additional time: The extra time made by saying "no" will, at any rate, prevent that forced clock from ticking. It will make you feel like you are in control. This can truly lighten up your mood and lift your anxiety and bolster your health. Rather than saying yes to going out for lunch or a party that you feel obligated to go to, but might not want to, simply try to say no. You will automatically feel happier when you are sitting at home, relaxing rather than forcefully socialising.
  2. You will be less remorseful: At first, you may be reluctant to state "no" because of a paranoid fear of passing up a major opportunity or the fear of missing out. As a general rule, nonetheless, in case that you need to state "no," odds are you have much better explanations for you not being there. If you do go for it, you might regret it afterwards thinking that you could have done something better with your time rather than having completely wasted it.
  3. Your associates will respect you for it: No one wants that they should be taken for granted. However, in case that you continue saying "yes" to each demand or opportunity, that is precisely how individuals will come to see you. The more you say "yes," the more individuals will generally expect things of you. This could prompt to a drop in your status and position and loss of control over others.

Ten Ways to Improve Your Sex Life

Sexologist, Faridabad
Ten Ways to Improve Your Sex Life

The greater part of us can recollect the hot, zesty minutes when the love life  was new and everything was rosy between you and your partner. However, the flame of a decent love life may fade away. Gradually, you and your partner may have an uninteresting sexual life.

In order to break the deadlock, you must find ways to bring back the old flame. Here are 10 ways, following which you can slowly get back to your glory days:

  1. For men, keeping a healthy heart is a must for long lasting spirit in bed. Your penis chips away with circulatory strain. The mind sends signals to your penis that causes vessels to swell with blood. Your heart is in charge of pumping the blood. When the heart is not functioning at its best, it can bring about issues with the blood stream from the heart to the vessels in your penis. This can make it hard to accomplish a full erection. Ensure your circulatory framework is working at top shape. Essentially, what is useful for your heart is useful for your sexual well-being.
  2. One of the most ideal approaches to enhance your sexual well-being is cardiovascular activity. Sex gets your heart rate up, yet standard activity can help your sexual execution by keeping your heart fit as a fiddle. Sweat breaking activities, such as running and swimming, can do marvels to uplift your charisma.
  3. In case of men, some food items help  in increasing blood flow. This accounts for better erection. Example, banana (rich in potassium), onion, garlic, chilies and pepper. Some of these items reduce hypertension.
  4. There are many people who have certain sexual problems, but keep them to themselves. People tend to hide their problems from their partners because of fear of failure. These problems should be talked about, given attention and be cured in order to restore the normal sexual performance and Erectile Dysfunction is one such problem.
  5. Sex is a two way road. Giving careful consideration to your partner's longing makes sex pleasurable for them and turns you on as well. Discussing this in advance will make it easier for you.
  6. In case you're not enduring the length you desire in bed, you may require some practice. Masturbation can help you enhance your stamina.
  7. Exposure to sunlight decreases the production of melatonin. Less melatonin increases the potential for sexual urge. Spend some time in the sun.
  8. Reduce much stress possible from your life. Stress boosts blood pressure and heart rate and your sexual performance gets hampered.
  9. Get rid of unhealthy habits, such as smoking and drinking. Such stimulants may lead to impotency, and you must avoid them to maintain sexual health.
  10. Experiment with new and different sexual positions to make it more interesting and fun for your partner.

I' m 23 years old. How to reduce stress.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Stress management is an art. Management starts long before appearance of stressful condition. A wise man often anticipates the possible future situation and prepares himself accordingly. For example you study well whole year to avoid stress at annual exam time. This preparation for facing stress is the first step. Then comes the question what to do in sudden unexpected situations. Look as a human being you may not capable of dealing with every environmental stressors. Whenever an un-expected situation arises you must seek help from others. There are people wiser and mightier than you to solve your problem, you must approach them without hesitation. During stressful conditions, you should adopt problem solving approach. This means you should be thinking about the ways to get out of the situation. You may have various options, and you should choose the most adequate option to solve your problems. Never ever blame your supports (your dear ones, friends, wellwishers etc), rather be thankful to them for their kind help. Try to come into your regular routine at the earliest. Take healthy timely meals, adequate rest, leisure and sleep.

General Physician,
Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. You can ask me privately. tar removing filters or cigarette holders are available to buy. Best way is to stop.

My fraternal grand father died of schizophrenia long back before my birth. And now my maternal grand mother is suffering from schizophrenia. What is the preventive measures to be taken for this. And what are the symptoms to detect early.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Although no preventive measures could be prooved 100 percent effective, you may adopt a stress free mental health promoting lifestyle in the form of early morning awakening before sunrise, daily yoga/meditation, morning jog/walk, good nutritious diet with plenty of salads, sprouts and fruits, adequate rest, recreation and socialization, pursuing your hobbies regularly, evening games and sports and sound sleep. Early symptoms are insomnia, feeling that something sinister is going to happen, remaining aloof and withdrawn, hearing strange voices, suspecting others, poor performance at school and work and not able to take care of self.

We should also pursue our dreams and make it true that doesn't make you greedy or anything like that. If you realize your full potential go for it. Firstly, you need to consult a gynac and et your polycystic ovaries sorted. There's definitely a treatment for that. Next, you must start workouts and healthy nutrition/diet so that you can be in a better shape. Third, you need to self-educate yourself that criticisms are not etched on your forehead. They're merely an opinion of others-you don't have to necessarily buy it! You can hear them but not "listen" to them. You are your best judge; nobody else so it shouldn't matter what others say. Stop being in this helpless situation which you have created for yourself- work on your weak spots and become a strong girl! If you eat healthy, lose weight, groom well and carry yourself confidently; what makes you say you won't find a suitable man?

I have a very weak memory. So I couldn't remember things easily. What should I do to increase memory?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food.

Sir/madam I am 28 years old female, for all small things I used to get tensed alot. For years small small symptoms were shown by my body tat something is wrong due to my tension. But in oct 2015 I got so tensed for one family problem. And felt like a lump feeling in my throat and felt lik I can not breath, so went to pulmonologist, he gave me medicines thinking its wheezing. So after 2 days of taking medicines, 1 night at 12 (immediately after menstruation started) my brain and heart both showed worst symptoms and I thought I had heart attack or something and said to my parents that something is gonna happen to me. Thy convinced tat nothing wrong and made me sleep, after getting up in the morning I had d same symptoms, I immediately rushed to cardiologist and took ecg, he said am perfectly alright and said that I suffered from severe anxiety and asked me to drink some cool milk, after many months lump feeling gone, but after tat started to get severe dizziness. And again went to cardiologist, he asked me to consult psychiatrist, so I went to psychiatrist thinking tat since no problem with my heart, I have brain tumor or something. She saw me and said nothing wrong with my body, but I was unable to believe it, she said I have severe anxiety and depression. And prescribed nexito plus and lonazep for one month. I took it and felt good, but immediately after a month I had bad brain zaps (electric jolt lik feeling), so again went to her. Now (dec 2015) she prescribed duleza 20 and d-venizz 50, but I did not take those medicines seeing bad reviews about withdrawal symptoms in net. So without taking those 2 medicines Controlled brain zaps, and I was ok (with minimal symptoms) for few months, but in april 2016 I had earlier symptoms and it was too worst. So again went to the doctor, but while going me and my dad had bike accident and got hurt very badly. So I could not go to the doctor. And returned home. Now (may 2016) I am having all the symptoms (feel like going mad, like about to fall, can not stand at all, so many strange feelings in brain, heart pounding, lik about to get fits, hands legs twitching, right eye swelling after every sleep, and while trying to sleep, feel lik earth is pulling me down->> al these symptoms gets worse after each menstruation) but if isay to my parents about it, no one listening and they are shouting tat am ok and wantedly saying all these. But thy can not understand wat bad is going on inside my body. And my weight is reduced (50 to 48). I am really confused bcos right now I am unable to go to psychiatrist and I want to know can I take those 2 medicines (which I did not take it earlier when doctor prescribed) now-> (duzela 20 and d-veniz 50). Pls help me, daily its like hell. I can not bear at all.!

Because anxiety and depression have same serotonin pathways as the cause. Though classified as antidepressants, for anxiety, these are the medications of choice. They can be safely taken on a longer run. Pure anxiety reducing benzodiazepine group of drugs like anxit, restyl, are very harmful on a longer run, in fact the name it self on these by drug companies are misleading. Psychiatrists and neurologists, dont prescribe them on a longer run, but for short term use only. SSRI group can be safely taken for long term
