* Don't scratch or pinch your pimples. This will cause more damage---scars and black spots. * Avoid fried and oily foods. * Prefer fruits and green vegetables. * When you apply any cream, sun screen and the like, clean your face at the earliest, so that there will be no adverse action of the chemicals on the delicate skin of face. *For your information, many skin creams (mostly fairness cream brands) are considered harmful and banned by Central Govt, Health ministry during March, 2016. The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) supported the ban. *Your skin ‘breaths’ through its pores which are not to be closed for long. Blocking pores by creams may cause more pimples. HOMOEOPATHIC medicines are taken internally. Hence, NO DIRECT CONTACT with your delicate and sensitive skin, thereby no problem of skin allergy. Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. The medicines work internally, tackle the root of the problem unlike face cream which is a surface treatment. Take Antim crd 200—once daily in the morning.

Tips for healthy skin and hair in Winter

MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, MBBS

Tips for healthy skin and hair in Winter
Winter – the onset of weddings, festivities, vacation and parties. Time to rev up, let your hair down, sing, dance and enjoy the best of times with your friends and family. It’s but natural that you ought to look your gorgeous self at each and every occasion. But winter does make this difficult. Dry skin and hair can rob you of your natural glow. With these basic tips, it is possible to look your best this winter:

1. Keep it lukewarm
Winter is the time when your skin and hair need maximum attention. Though the idea of piping hot water is very tempting, stick to a lukewarm water bath every day. Make sure to use a mild non-drying soap or a moisturizing soap.

2. Exfoliate

During winters, the varying temperature outdoors and indoors can have a major effect on the skin. While taking a shower, get into the habit of exfoliating with a loofah so as to remove layers of dead skin and make way for new healthy skin cells.

3. Make moisturizer your daily companion
Needless to say, choose a really good moisturizer to keep the skin moisturized and soft. Pay special attention to the exposed parts (and the most affected areas) like your hands, nails, feet and lips. Keep them well moisturized at all times. Use a lip balm to keep your lips soft and supple.

4. Sunscreen is not just for summers
Wear a sunscreen when you step out in the open. In fact, it should be a part of your daily routine throughout the year and especially during the winters. This is the time when it may seem that you don’t need protection from the sun but you really do!

5. Avoid excess use of deodorants
As you hardly tend to sweat during winter, it’s best to restrict the usage of deodorants which contain high alcohol content. These products tend to strip away the skin’s moisture leaving your skin dry. Go for alcohol-free products instead.

6. Conditioner is a must
Since you don’t sweat much in winter, don’t shampoo too often as it may dry out the scalp and hair. Use a mild shampoo and lukewarm water as very hot water can be harmful to your hair and scalp. And don’t forget the conditioner. If you want to go natural, coconut milk is an excellent conditioner.

7. Oil your hair regularly
However busy your schedule is, don’t skip the oil your hair needs. It will help regulate the blood circulation and keep your scalp moisturized.

8. Style wisely
Say no to hair dryers/ flat irons/ curl irons. These hair styling instruments work on the principle of heat, which when used during winters make matters worse. Instead use the cool setting of the dryer which though may take longer to dry but it would retain the moisture. Choose wooden hair brushes or combs instead of plastic. This is to fight the static hair caused by absence of moisture. If it fits in your schedule and budget, visit a good salon for protein treatment.

9. Cover with care
While woolen caps, scarves and stoles may make a style statement, it can also be the cause of hair breakage especially at the nape of your neck or forehead. Don’t try to be over-protective by wearing them tightly around your head. Leave sufficient space for air circulation in the scalp.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
My daughter aged 19 years is suffering from Urticaria. Please suggest medication for her and also inform causes for t...
Urticaria (sometimes called hives) is an itchy rash caused by tiny amounts of fluid that leak from blood vessels just under the skin surface. Urticaria is classed as: • Acute urticaria - if it develops suddenly and lasts less than six weeks. Most cases last 24-48 hours. About 1 in 6 people will have at least one bout of urticaria in their life. It can affect anyone at any age. Some people have recurring bouts of acute urticaria. • Chronic urticaria - if it persists long-term. Chronic means persistent or ongoing. In chronic urticaria a rash develops on most days for at least six weeks. This is uncommon. About 1 in 1,000 people develop chronic urticaria at some stage in their life. It is more common in women than it is in men. Some people have an urticarial rash on and off for months, or even years. • The rash can affect any area of skin. Small raised areas called weals (or wheals) develop on the skin. The weals look like mild blisters and are itchy. Each weal is white or red and is usually surrounded by a small red area of skin which is called a flare. The weals are commonly 1-2 cm across but can vary in size. There may be just a few but sometimes many develop over various parts of the body. Sometimes weals that are next to each other join together to form larger ones. The weals can be any shape but are often round. • As a weal fades, the surrounding flare remains for a while. This makes the affected area of skin look blotchy and red. The blotches then fade gradually and the skin returns to normal. Each weal usually lasts less than 24 hours. However, as some fade away, others may appear. It can then seem as if the rash is moving around the body. The rash may clear completely only to return a few hours or days later. A trigger is thought to cause the release of chemicals (such as histamine) from cells in the skin. The chemicals cause fluid to leak from tiny blood vessels under the skin surface. The fluid pools to form weals. The chemicals also cause the blood vessels to open wide (dilate) which causes the flare around the weals. The trigger is not known or identified in many cases. Possible causes in some cases include the following: • In many cases the cause may be an autoimmune problem. Autoimmune means that our own immune system causes damage to some of our body's own cells. Normally, our body makes proteins called antibodies to fight infections; for example, when we catch a cold or have a sore throat. These antibodies help to kill the germs causing the infection. In autoimmune diseases the body makes similar antibodies (autoantibodies) that attack its normal cells. In urticaria, these antibodies attach to cells under the skin and cause them to release histamine and other chemicals. The reason why this happens is not clear. • An allergy to a food, medicine or parasite (such as worms in the gut) is an uncommon cause of persistent (chronic) urticaria. A skin specialist may advise tests if an allergy is suspected. • Physical urticaria. This is a type of urticaria in which a rash appears when the skin is physically stimulated. The most common example of this is called dermatographism (dermatographia) - a rash develops over areas of skin which are firmly stroked. In other cases an urticarial rash is caused by heat, cold, emotion, exercise, or strong sunlight. This kind of urticaria often causes bouts of sudden-onset (acute) symptoms, but sometimes causes chronic symptoms. • A germ (bacterium) called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) which is commonly found in the stomach may be a factor in some cases. If you are infected with this bacterium and it is cleared with treatment, it may cure the problem with urticaria. Occasionally a trigger such as a food is identified which causes the rash. You may then be able to avoid it. However, it is unusual to identify a trigger. For example, if a food trigger is suspected, then you may be asked to keep a food diary to try to identify which food is responsible. Various other factors may make symptoms worse (but are not the main trigger). The following are things that some people have found helpful, but there is little proof that they work in everybody: • Try avoiding tight clothes, as weals sometimes tend to occur at sites of local pressure. For example, under belts, under tight-fitting shoes, etc. • Try keeping cool, as urticaria may tend to flare up in warmer conditions. In particular, keep the bedroom cool at night. • Some things worth considering include: alcohol, hot baths, strong sunlight, and undue emotion. If you think any of these are making symptoms worse then it may be helpful to avoid them. • See a doctor if you think a medicine is making symptoms worse, as a change in medication may be an option. Some medicines that may be triggers include aspirin,anti-inflammatory painkillers, codeine, and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. • Homoeopathic treatment • SULPHUR 30 ( Dr.Reckeweg) Drink 5 drops in 1 spoon fresh water today night 30 minutes after eating or drinking anything at bedtime. • Nw forget about Sulphur 30 after this nd just keep it in your refrigerator. No need to further take this medicine.I will let u know what to do with this medicine afterwards. • FORMULA-D TABS ( BAKSON ) Chew 1 tab 3 time a day for 1 month DERM-AID SOAP ( BAKSON) Use only thiss soap on body • P.L.30 ( Dr.Reckeweg) 4 tabss 3 times a day.Ask the pharmacy incharg from where u buy these medicines to prepare this P.L.30. • Report after 1 month • Eat nutritious diet • Avoid nuts, chocklates, dry fruits, fasst, fried food. • •

Her breast produces liquid white discharge during love-making sessions, when pressed with even little pressure. Only the left breast. Is it anything to be concerned about?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Normal nipple discharge more commonly occurs in both nipples and is often released when the nipples are compressed or squeezed (nipples may secrete fluid when they are stimulated or squeezed during love making). Some women who are concerned about breast secretions may actually cause it to worsen. They do this by repeatedly squeezing their nipples to check for nipple discharge. In these instances, leaving the nipples alone for a while may help the condition to improve. So no problem in your case. It is normal---------------------

How can I remove my white spots on skin.

BHMS
Homeopath,
How can I remove my white spots on skin.
White patches on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. In the mean time you can take cal phos 6x, 4 tabs twice daily. Do send me a clear photo of the affected area.

Hi Hasmina I will tell you a very simple and long term solution. Rub fresh papaya peel on the dark area on daily basis and wash it after few minutes. It will help to get rid of the darkness. It will take some time to show its effects so you need to be patient. If there is no change after 1 month then report me back, I will suggest medicines.

Ayurveda and Skin Cancer

Skin is a very vital organ of your body as it protects your body from external injuries and also helps in regulating your body temperature. The gradual development of cancer cells on your skin region is known as skin cancer. Skin cancer is a very common disease that is affecting people worldwide. Many causes are responsible for skin cancer.

Some of them are stated as follows:

  • Overexposure to sun rays. The Ultraviolet rays can cause serious damage to your skin that can lead to cancer.
  • Sun burns may also result in the development of cancer cells
  • Frequent exposure to toxic chemical substance can also trigger skin cancer.
  • A frail immune system may also contribute to skin cancer.
  • Certain scars on your skin, if left untreated, may become cancerous and eventually lead to skin cancer.
  • Consuming unhealthy foods and being unhygienic may also lead to skin cancers.

Skin cancer may develop all over your body or on any particular region of your skin. It can spread to other parts of your body rapidly. The symptoms of skin cancer depend on the type of your cancer.

Some of the common symptoms of skin cancer are as follows:

  • A sore on your skin that cannot be healed
  • Swelling of your skin
  • You may also get an itching sensation frequently
  • Appearance of bumps
  • Bleeding of the affected areas
  • Appearance of reddish spots
  • A bleeding mole

Skin cancer is absolutely curable if treated at an early stage. Ayurveda offers effective remedies for treating skin cancer.

They are mentioned below:

  1. Panchakarma therapy is the most effective treatment for healing skin cancer. It involves purification and removal of harmful toxins from your body through its 5 constituent therapeutic treatments namely, Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Basti and Raktamokshana.
  2. Drinking green tea can be very helpful. It is known to have anti cancerous properties which help prevent and combat this killer.
  3. Including more of citrus food in your diet such as lemons, oranges; excluding oily, fried foods and cutting down on higher quantities of sugar can prove to be beneficial.
  4. Applying turmeric paste on the affected areas may help you to guard against skin cancer.

You must not ignore skin cancer and seek advice from a doctor as early as possible since the process of metastasis (spreading of cancer cells to different spots of your body) is very rapid in this case.
