You have not mentioned wt n ht of your daughter in your query though these have been mentioned on top which are not consistent to each other. Cerelac is not proper diet for 2 years old child. She needs all home made nutritious food stuff of her choice rather thrusting your choice on her, it appears so. Leave her free to choose her items. Avoid sugar rich drinks, toffee, chocolates etc. Her choice is best appetizer.

Oral rehydration therapy is only treatment needed for most children suffering from diarroea. Most cases of common cold do not require any medicine.

Do no worry. Mostly viral fever to start with is high grade and settles in 3 to 4 days. You can give paracetamol sos. If your child is well looking most fever subside without any antibiotics. If fever is persistent or there are abnormal symptoms like vomiting drowsiness loose motion then consult your pediatrician.

My nephew is 8 months old (born on 10th August, 2017). Till date he had undergone four blood transfusion since his birth. haemoglobin comes down every 30-40th day to 7-9 level. We stay at Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) where no treatment is available for this disease. Doctors has suggested that he should be undergoing blood transfusion throughout his life for survival and he can survive maximum 25 years like this. Please find the attached report of cough. I would be really thankful to you if you can examine his report and help us in any possible way to treat his disease, I would appreciate your confirmation. This is unfortunate that your child is suffering from thalassamia Major. This is autosomal recessive genetic disease. There are following advice for child. 1 please get his Hb level estimation every 3 to 4 weeks. The idea is maitain Hb above 9 to 10 gm%. When Hb level goes down which is likely every 3 to 4 weels then packed cell transfusion need to be given. Simultaneously your child shall need iron cheleating agent to prevent iron overload. This modality of treatment is to continue till child is alive. 2 Another option is to go for bone marrow transplantation which if successful shall cure the disease. The problem with BMT is selection of donor and huge expense in a select tertiary care center. 3 genetic couselling meaning thereby if the parents are interested for another child prenatal screening in ist trimester (first 3 months of pregnancy) to rule out same genetic disorder in your next baby. If report is abnormal you can go termination of pregnancy. Regards

What is the ketogenic diet?

The ketogenic diet is a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that helps to control seizures in some people with epilepsy. It is prescribed by a physician and carefully monitored by a dietitian. It is stricter than the modified Atkins diet, requiring careful measurements of calories, fluids, and proteins.
The name ketogenic means that it produces ketones in the body (keto = ketone, genic = producing). Ketones are formed when the body uses fat for its source of energy.
Usually the body uses carbohydrates (such as sugar, bread, pasta) for its fuel, but because the ketogenic diet is very low in carbohydrates, fats become the primary fuel instead.
Ketones are not dangerous. They can be detected in the urine, blood, and breath. Ketones are one of the more likely mechanisms of action of the diet; with higher ketone levels often leading to improved seizure control. However, there are many other theories for why the diet will work.

In extreme cold weather there are chances of frost bite, thermal injuries leading to influenza (cold cough fever). Usually we know well to protect us from from extreme cold weather but over protection may lead to other type of immunological thermal injuries. For example suppose temperature of water in overhead tank is 4 degree Celsius chilled and we can not bath or drink chilled water than we will start heating and sooner it will become warm at 40 degree Celsius. Now we will start bathing at this temperature of water in chilled air. Temperature difference between bathroom air and water goes beyond 20 degree Celsius (35 degree Celsius). This difference between bathroom air and water temperature of more than 20 degrees Celsius causes other type of thermal injuries leading to Allergies and infection due to breach in immunity.
