Patient of breast cancer pathologic grade 3 and no lymph node involvement size more than 3 cm but less than 5 cm .on upper inner part of left breast. Modified radical mastectomy done adjuvant chemotherapy going on .ER neg. PR neg. HER 2 by IHC method neg as reported by TATA Cancer hospital Mumbai .but same hospital showed last impression as uninterpretable when FISH method is used .

Registrar in Surgical Oncology, Fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology, Masters In Advanced Oncology, Fellowship in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery, Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology
Oncologist, Mumbai
It's a grade 3 tumour with size more than 3 cm. If mastectomy done and no lymph nodes positive patient does not need radiotherapy. However triple negative are aggressive cancers and for these chemotherapy is a must for any tumour greater than 0.5cm in size. You should complete all the prescribed doses of chemotherapy and be on regular follow up. That gives a best chance for cure/control.

You cannot decrease the size to normal. Every prostate increased with age. You have to do surgery based on your response to medicine, symptoms and usg report. Also important is the prostate specific antigen report. Send me your usg report to be able to comment.

How the cancer cells produced in our body can be destroyed without the help of cemo?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cell grow in our body and are routinely shed off as they grow old and replaced by new cells. This production and shedding off is regulated by genes which control it's number. Whenever this becomes disbalanced then production may be more than shedding off and cells grow uncontrolled. This may be due to faulty genes which is triggered by some carcinogens like tobacco, pollution, pesticides, industrial affluent, radiation exposure, viral infection etc Cancer is treated by combination of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy etc.

Ovarian Cancer: Causes and Risk Factors

DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Ovarian Cancer: Causes and Risk Factors

Ovaries are the primary reproductive organs in the female body which produces the eggs that need to be fertilized to form a fetus in the womb. Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the ovaries and spreads till the pelvis and the abdomen. This cancer is usually cured by either a surgery or chemotherapy.

Causes

Ovarian cancer is mostly caused due to a genetic mutation which transforms the healthy cells of the ovaries into abnormal cancerous cells. The abnormal cells then generally form a tumor which spreads further inside the female body. The type of cell in which the cancer begins determines the type of ovarian cancer you have. Ovarian cancer types include:

  • Epithelial tumors: it is the most common type of ovarian cancer which begins from the thin layer that covers the ovaries.
  • Stromal tumors: this type begins in those tissues which contain the hormone producing cells.
  • Germ cell tumors: this usually happens among relatively younger women, and it originates from the egg producing cells of the ovaries.

Risk factors

Factors that boost your risk of getting an ovarian cancer are listed below:

  • Age: the risk of ovarian cancer is greater in women who are between 50 to 60 years. However, ovarian cancer is such a condition that can occur at any age.
  • Estrogen hormone replacement therapy: this therapy tends to alleviate menopausal symptoms and renews the hormones of a woman's body. If you are undergoing this therapy then you are at a risk of developing ovarian cancer.
  • Congenital: the risk of ovarian cancer can sometimes also be due to an inherited gene mutation and can be passed on from the parents to the offspring.
  • Menstrual risk: if you had started menstruating before the age of 12 or had a menopause before the age of 52 then the risk of you developing ovarian cancer increases.
  • Other risk factors: these factors do not pose a subsequent amount of threat of having an ovarian cancer, but they slightly increase the risk. These are activities like: regular smoking, fertility treatments, never being pregnant, use of an intrauterine device and polycystic ovary syndrome.

I am feeling mysterious diffuse pain and discomfort in mine left breast. Nothing positive on investigations and test. All of a sudden this diffuse pain and discomfort troubles me alot. Few say. At the age of 45 setting of breast may be the cause. Or perimenopause symptoms. But really. The pain and discomfort I feel and face. Is unbearable. At that time it seems. As if I am not even able to breath properly. What can be the reason. How to get rid of this trouble or got it treated.

DNB, DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Ghaziabad
Reasons for such a pain can be many, from gastritis to angina or heart problems, lump in the breast etc. Please get yourself checked up to find out the exact cause. Heart check up is important. Also, get a mammography done, which is a special x ray of breast. It is advised for all women after 45 years of age to detect any signs of breast cancer early.

I am 33 year old and mother of 5 kids. I had slight differences between my breast before first delivery. Yhe problem is after delivery both the breast will be filled with milk. But after10 days or two weeks the small breast will start shrinking and it will have very small amount of milk. The difference in size affects my confidence level too. Can I get this treated feel there is difference in structure of this breast.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear mam, lactation from both breast may be different, but you need to express milk from other breast to prevent from getting it collected and form abscess. If there is obvious difference of size is there then please get an ultrasound breast cancer to rule out local collection of milk or inflammation of breast and get it treated accordingly.
