I had a son, 3 months older. We are using so many medicine for motion but they were not working. Can you please suggest a good medicine for him for motion.

As miracle suggested give him plenty of fluids. Babies tend to dehydrate faster than adults as their weight is lesser than us. So give him chawal/dal/sabudana ka paani. And arrowroot is the best for dehydration. If he vomits also than it means some infection is there, ask every doctor first to give natural remedies, medicines given to babies are not a good option until the problem is critical.

My 3 months baby hasn't sleeping properly at night.

DMB
Pediatrician,
Sometimes a 3 month baby is still yet to develop a regular day and night pattern. Most often they should settle by the time they are four months old . If you are breast feeding, the baby settles down after a feed and a burp. Try to create a semblance of darkness and quiteness during the night and use diapers so that he does not awaken every time he passes urine. Remember try to get sleep when the baby sleeps, to keep your prolactin levels high to help breast milk secretion. A calm mother usually has a calm baby, and so try not to reflect your anxiety on to the baby. Kangaroo care of the baby will also help which even men can assist.

My daughter was born premature by 20 days and her birth weight was 2.4 Kgs. She suffered from Jaundice after 3 days of birth & was given phototherapy for 1 day. Her weight reduced to 2.1 kg. After 5.5 months, Her weight gain has reached till only 5 Kgs. Her vaccination till 6 months are completed. Question 1 :- Doctor has suggested only Vitamin D3 & Ferris drops. But he has not suggested Calcium drops. Whether this is required or not. We are continuing Pro Nan -1 & we have started little upper diets like cereal water etc. Question 2 :- What else shall we do to raise her weight exponentially, which according to us is less than shall be as actual. Hello, ●New born baby is unable to distinguish between night & daytime. Hence, after few week, you have to educate the baby the difference between  day & night in order to establish sound sleep in the night. ●When its day, the baby should be brought in sun light to recognise the day time and similarly in night the baby should be kept in a dim. Light to recognise eving or night time. Her day should be brighter and the night be darker. ●This has to be ensured  that child is adequetly ,fed before going to bed & continued feeding 2 hrly. ●Some time the baby suffers from abdominal pain, earache, headache due to change in climate, cause her weep. ●  usually, we fail to assess the room- temprature being suitable for the baby to make her sleep, comfortably.Ac should be tuned & fan should be adjusted as per the need be. ● in the night while feeding the baby of your own  baby asleeps without taking sufficient quty of milk, makes her weep, again and again during sleep, please keep checking the fact & adjusted as the condition warants. Hello My 4 month old baby boy is breastfeed and bottle fed too. He is putting on good weight. Bt he passes green color stool. Do I need to worry?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
We always advise against bottle feeding as it is inherent with many problems. Only breast feed & homemade semi solids are the ideal food for a 4 month old baby. If you stop bottle the stool should become normal. I can give you constant support and advice if you give all details like birth weight and immunisation details, better to ask privately.

Ask her what is troubling her. It may be she can't see properly or she can't follow properly. Get her vision checked by an eye doctor. Talk to her class teacher. Don't scold her.

My baby girl is 4 months old. From past 4 days she is having fever of 100 degree. Though she was urinating in every 1-2 hours but she was urinating very less. So we consulted a doctor and he prescribed medicines such as Pro wel, apex-p and ofloaxin since she was passing out green stools from past few days. We also undergo a urine test and it is found to be normal. What my concern is from past few days she is drinking very less breast milk. She sucks for only 30 secs to one minute and then she refuses to take it even after burping. She screams when she looks at my breast I tried feeding her through spoon and she is ok with it but not with sucking Can you please help since manual extraction of milk is a time consuming and difficult process.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Kolkata
Breast milk production and secretion is mostly depend on overall wellbeing and mental status of mother. First of all you need to relax and try to take adequate rest. Do any relaxation technology which is suitable for you. Drink plenty of water and take half to one glass of water 15 minutes before feeding. As your baby is sick and passing loose stool she might be thirsty but easily fatigued. So she needs frequent feeding.

Bow Legs:What You Need To Know

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Kolkata
Bow Legs:What You Need To Know

Often children are born with bowing of legs, due to folded leg position in utero.

Once they start putting pressure on them while walking, they may straighten out. This happens generally by 2 to 3 years of age.

If not corrected then they may cause some serious problems:
*shortening of 1 leg
*deformity
*difficulty walking running
*higher risk of arthritis.

Persistent bowing may be due some deficiency:
*rickets
*Blount's disease
*lead or fluoride poisoning
*others

First few tests:
25 (oh) vitamin d3 level in serum
Serum free calcium level
X-ray of legs.

How will your pediatrician monitor for a change?

Measurements of distance between knees while a child is lying on the back.

This is monitored to see for any worsening

What can be done?

*treat rickets.
*any other underlying problem to be ruled out.
*braces orthopedic devices to keep the leg in straightened position (serious cases)
*surgery after 3 years (determined according to individual case basis)

All problems may not be solved but timely intervention can change the life of a child forever.

My baby is 3 months old I was feeding him breast milk plus formula milk as milk supply is less. My problem is now he is not at all sucking me.

Pediatrician, Pune
Why did you start formula milk? breast milk is best for the baby but it require a little effort, and you are making the baby lazy by giving bottle feeds which requires less effort then as compared to sucking on breast, they will always choose the easier alternative and then wont suck on breast, try to give exclusive breast feeding till at least 6 months of age

What Is Parental Depression? How to Support Each Other?

Panchkula & Delhi

What Is Parental Depression? How to Support Each Other?

Parental Depression is an aspect which affects the innocent child, right from the time it is in the mother's womb.

Maternal depression could be due to various reasons ranging from familial disharmony to poor health. Unfortunately, a depressed mother's pessimistic thoughts could pass on to the pure soul inside her. So the effect starts in utero. After birth, she may be careless and negligent towards a child whose most important requirement is love. And children of these mothers become victims of behavioral and cognitive problems and poor school performers. They may also acquire the illness of depression eventually.

A depressed father will display stress and agitation instead of engaging the young minds in interesting learning or other activities.

Hence, before stepping into parenthood, it's important to be mentally fit and not just physically healthy. Exercise and meditation is of great help and of course a happy home environment.

Supporting each other is the key to getting things on track again.

  • Talk to your spouse: Chat with your spouse, showing affection, doing things with them and encouraging them to get out of the house are important.
  • Appreciate her but respect your family: Help her see that the family needs her and appreciates that she is expecting. While doing the same ensure that you respect the feelings of your family members.
  • Opt for specialist care: Offer to see a therapist and encourage her to take medications. Getting the help of an expert helps get guidance to handle difficult situations.
  • Be emotionally present with her: Go with her to as many antenatal checkups as you can, and make sure you are there for the ultrasound scans. This encourages a woman and gives her the satisfaction that her partner is involved.
  • Compliment her and pay attention to her: Many women find it difficult to cope with the changes in their body during pregnancy. She may be worried about stretch marks, concerned about weight gain or just be feeling not much like her old self. Make sure to compliment her and let her know how much you love her.
  • Be a shoulder for her to cry on: Listen to all of her concerns, and offer her the reassurance and support she really needs.
  • Be there to help: After the birth, your partner will need time to recover. She will be exhausted, sore and hormonal, and will be relying on you for support. Help with the baby, and do as much as you can.

Formula feeds are better to be avoided and do not give in bottle. Instead give from cup and spoon. She should be started on home made semisolids.

Hi welcome to lybrate if the testes were normal till now and with no pain or discomfort, it can be a hydrocele, but can't be judged by just your one question and without seeing it. Please consult your pediatrician as early as possible.
