Hi, I can understand your concern. You can get healthy on your own, it does work. You just have to want it. And really fight for it. And of course when your trying to recover on your own, its not as easy. When your at hospital and have proffessional help. Its easier. You have a meal plan, you have people watching you, making sure you eat. Do not exercise. They make sure you gain weight. They help you recover. While your trying to recover on your own, the most important thing is that you have support. That is very important. Its almost impossible, if you have no one you can talk to, no one who will be there beside you when things are hard. Or someone to remind you thatrecovery is worth it. Someone to make you smile. Whether thats your mum, best friend, boyfriend. Etc etc (but I do not know, when your sick its so easy to lose contact with people. And if you have lost contact. Its just to take contact with people again, and let them know your trying to recover and hope that they can help you, support you.) recovery is not easy, its a mental battle everyday. And facing your body is not easy while in recovery. Ok. The best thing to do is start off small. 3 meals a day, and then add on snacks. So you have 5-6 meals a day. That is the best thing. Its good for the metabolism anyway. Its just healthy to eat 5-6 meals a day. And when your eating 5-6 meals a day aim for 2500-3000 calories. Thats what you need to gain weight. But start off with roughly 1000-1200 calories, and then raise it. Really, calories should not be counted. But when your making a meal plan, then I guess you should know how mcuh your eating. Find foods that you like. It makes eating easier. So. I guess thats up to you to decide what you like and want to eat. But I suggest to eat full fat foods. It makes gaining weight easier. And that is what is needed in recovery. Do not forget that my best tips in recovery, are to hide the mirrors. Trust me, it does not help. Just have a small one so you can do your make up, brush your teeth, see your face. But hide the llong mirrors. Get rid of the scale. The number on the scale does not define you. Ok. So if your recoverying on your own. Yeah, it might be good to see if your gaining weight or losing weight, but decide a day. Like monday morning, once a week you check. And thats it. Hide the scale. And do not step on it unless its monday morning. You have to be tough with yourself. You have to be your own guard. And do not listen to the voice in your head. There will be bad days. Days when you just want to give up because you feel fat, or eveyrthing is hard. And thats normal, thats part of recovery. Thats the hard times. Thats when you need to be 10 times stronger, and just eat anyway. I also suggest to make food dates - i. E. Plan to have brunch with a friend, or go for lunch with someone. Go to dinner, or invite someone for dinner. Go out for frozen yoghurt etc etc. In the end you need to challenge yourself, and it also makes sure that you eat. It makes it easier if your with someone when your eating. You should consult a professional. You can consult with me for counselin and therapy regarding this. All the best.

I have asthma and how can I get rid of asthma naturally and permanently with out any side effects please suggest me.

DAA, DNB
Pulmonologist, Bangalore
Hi. I understand your concerns. Asthma is a common allergic problem which is not curable but can definitely be controlled so that you can lead a symptom free life. You will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for the diagnosis and also to assess the severity of asthma based on which treatment can be started. Consult a pulmonologist for the same. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

Cause has to be checked first. It can b bad occlusion or faulty brushing. Massage gums towards the teeth. That means upper arch gums downwards n lower arch gums upwards. With a gum paint or even wdout it can also b done. Rest guidance can b given on meeting.

For the last 5 days I have savers body pain and slight fever what for this happens.
Hi there ~ body ache which is severe along with slight fever is a common indication for viral fever if you do not have any other symptoms. If you have other symptoms like cough and cold or other issues like infection from another site that you know of on or in your body please let your doctor know and get treatment for the infection. Plenty of fluids, rest and some paracetamol is all that is needed along with good food at regular intervals to treat viral fever. Hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day

So follow few basic things …. 1) take solid diet two times in a day and liquid diet two times in a day. 2) drink only 100-150 ml of lukewarm water during meals …. 3) don’t drink water one hour before meals and one hour after meal…4) avoid oily, spicy, salty, junk, fast, fermented and stale foods…. 5) avoid late night sleeping habits …. 6) do anuloma viloma pranayam regularly early in the morning. U need to take a high protein high calorie diet Eat a lot – This sounds much easier than it really is. Whatever you’re eating now, you should probably double it. If you eat three meals a day, instead eat six. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours, and each meal needs to be the size of a normal meal. This is going to be difficult for a few weeks, because you’ll often have to force yourself to eat even when you’re not hungry. 500 extra calories a day = 1 extra pound gained per week. Whatever you’re eating now, add an additional 1000 calories (spread throughout the day), and you’ll put on 2 lbs a week. Not just any calories though… Eat a lot of good things – You need to eat a ridiculous amount of calories (probably 3500+ per day) if you want to gain weight, but you want to make sure most of those calories are GOOD calories. You could easily get 3500 calories eating Taco Bell and Twinkies, and drinking Mountain Dew, but that will just make you fat. If you want to build muscle, you want to eat healthy calories that are loaded with good protein, good carbs, and healthy fats…which brings me to my next point: Protein = building block for your muscles. Chicken, fish, meat, eggs, milk, almonds, peanuts. Eat lots of this stuff, all the time. Read more about protein here. Carbs will help you put on weight, but it won’t be muscle – pasta, brown rice, wheat bread, oatmeal, etc. Will help you put on weight, but a lot of that weight will be fat. Every meal should have vegetables and fruit. If you just eat protein, your body will resort to using it for energy rather than building muscle. I learned this the hard way in college; four years of exercising and three protein shakes a day got me NOTHING. Unless you’re eating tons of good fats (almonds FTW), good carbs (fruits and veggies), and protein, you won’t be gaining weight. Keep track of everything you eat – Sign up for a site light dailyburn. Com (it’s free), input your stats and start to track every one of your meals. It will tell you if you’re eating enough calories, enough protein, and enough carbs. This site has helped me put on 15 lbs since last fall. Compound exercises are your friend– Concentrate on complex, compound exercises that recruit as many muscles as possible: bench presses, dumbbell presses, squats, deadlifts, pull ups, chin ups, and dips. Do these exercises, and concentrate on lifting as much weight as possible. Don’t worry about triceps extensions, shoulder shrugs, bicep curls or crunches. All of the compound exercises listed here use every muscle in your body, and when you overload your body with calories and protein, those muscles will grow. Don’t worry about isolation exercises until you’re up to your goal weight and ready to tone down. Read about squats here, deadlifts here, and pull ups here. Appearance is a consequence of fitness – This is the mantra of the actors of who trained for the movie 300 – would you be okay looking like a Spartan? Concentrate on being really strong and lifting heavy weights, and your body will follow suit. It doesn’t matter if you can only bench press 10 lb dumbbells right now. Wherever you’re starting out, concentrate on being stronger each and every time you exercise. Push yourself, get stronger, lift more, and before you know it you’ll be ripped. When exercising, keep your rest between sets to a minute or less, and don’t do more than 12 reps in a set – Keep your range of reps between 6 and 12, and try to keep the time you rest between sets to a minute or less. Example: incline dumbbell chest press – 12 reps of 50 lbs, wait a minute, 10 reps of 55lbs, wait a minute, 8 reps of 60 lbs. Let your muscles rest – never exercise the same muscle two days in a row. Your muscles get rebuilt (larger) during your days off, so never exercise the same muscle before it’s ready. I usually wait at least 48 hours before I hit the same muscle again. Sleep – you need to be getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night for maximum gains. Your body is doing nothing but lying there and building muscle while you’re sleeping. If you are only getting 6 hours or less, you’re not going to get all the benefits of your exercising and diet. I know it’s tough, but those 3AM raids on Runnyeye need to be put on hold for a few months. SLEEP. Cardio is your enemy – Running long distances isn’t going to help you. If you’re going to run, do sprints or run up a hill. Think about it: would you rather look like a sprinter or a marathon runner? Keep your distance cardio to a minimum if you want to put on some pounds. Make it part of your routine – It’s okay to skip a workout here and there, but it is NOT okay for you to skip a meal if you’re serious about weight gain. You need to be always eating. It sucks, it’s practically a full time job, but it’s what you have to do. Eat. Realize you will put on some fat – with all of this eating, you are going to be putting on some fat along with your muscle. That’s okay! Figure out what your goal weight is, and then add another 5-10 lbs on top of it. Once you get to that weight, cut back on the carbs in your diet, do more sprints, and keep exercising: you’ll shed the fat quickly and be left with a killer figure. Eat all the vegetables you want, but cut back on breads, pasta, rice, and oatmeal.

These are the methods to treat fastly acne & spots: • Imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum production and causes acne. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. • Do YOGASANA daily. Especially do SINHASANA & SARVANGASANA daily. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. • Take cucumber and papaya pulp. Mix it well and add 1 tablespoon Turmeric. Make a paste and apply it on face and leave it for 15 minutes. • Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for a couple of minutes. • Take 2 teaspoon of RAKTASHODAK SYRUP of BAIDYANATH company once a day. * Eat green leafy vegetables and fruits. Eat a bowl of cereal and drink a glass of milk daily.Be healthy.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian

I am 16 and some hairs of mine have gone white what is the reason for it and what can I do now?
1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home) 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair. 7. You can use some good hair packs like - fenugreek and yogurt, egg and green tea. 8. You can rinse your hair with organic apple cider vinegar after washing your hair to maintain ph balance of your hair. 9. Hair health depends on the amount of protein in your diet. Foods like chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, dry fruits gives you the required nutrients to keep your skin and hair healthy. So consume plenty of them. Eat things rich in vitamin c like amla and oranges. 10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the body.

Hye, Thanks for the query. If you want to gain some weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. 1. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day In order to gain weight, you need to start eating 5-6 meals a day. However, it is important that you break these meals into parts, as eating a lot at once may result in indigestion. Also, be sure to include healthy foods in your diet for a healthy weight gain. 2. Weight train at least 3 times a week When you train with weights, your muscles grow. 3. Consume more calories than you burn. Eating calories more than your normal intake may not be easy, but you must do it if you want to stop being skinny. Make sure you don’t do it just by overeating at once, but instead do it gradually over the whole day. 4. Work out your entire body A lot of gym goers usually train only the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Make sure you workout your entire body for a wholesome weight gain. 5. Load up on protein As informed earlier, you have to consume more calories than your normal intake every day. You can do this by eating foods rich in protein like dairy, meat, eggs, nuts, dry fruits, pulses, sprouts, smoothies, milk shakes etc. 6. Drink your calories It may be tough to meet your calorie requirements by just eating. Drinking milk, lassi, milkshakes or fruit smoothies with little or no sugar can be a great way to load up on the required calories. 7. Try and eat fast (but don’t choke on it) Your body takes some time to give signals of satiety which is why eating fast can help you eat more. 8. Focus on recovery after each workout Stretching exercises, foods rich in carbohydrates can help recover your body significantly. Also, you should aim for 8 hours of sleep as inadequate sleep can cause several problems. 9. Be patient with yourself.
