The Best Fat-Free Foods for Weight Loss

If you are trying to lose weight, the foods you buy at the grocery store can make or break your plan. So you should bring a list of fat-free foods to lose weight. Use these tips and print out this list before you head to the store.

So which foods make the top list of fat-free foods? you might be surprised. Most of these foods are naturally free from fat. Some processed fat-free foods are not listed.

Why? certain diet foods can actually be bad for your weight loss program. Sometimes, when food makers remove fat from a food, they replace it with sugar. So the calorie count remains the same. And your sugar intake goes through the roof.

Many foods on this fat-free list provide a nutritional benefit but keep the calorie count in check. These are the best foods for weight loss. Other choices listed below don't necessarily provide great nutrition but calm your cravings for sweets and treats for just a few calories.

What's not on the list? junk food like chips and cookies, high-calorie frozen meals, fried frozen foods like fish sticks, regular condiments like mayo and salad dressing, ice cream, and chocolate candy.

If you are watching your sodium intake, check the nutrition facts label before you buy. Some fat-free canned foods like beans and soups many contain a lot of salt.

 White beans

 Black beans

 Garbanzo beans

 Canned tomatoes

 Canned corn

 Other canned vegetables

Canned fruit with no added syrup

Tuna (canned in water, not oil

 Fat-free refried beans

Canned soups with a clear base (avoid cream soups)

Fat-free dairy foods. Not all fat-free dairy products taste good. So it's important to consider flavor when making your choice. Sometimes buying a low-fat version is better because you'll be satisfied eating less of it and consuming fewer calories overall.

 Fat-free greek yogurt

 Fat-free traditional yogurt

 Fat-free or low-fat cream cheese

 Skim milk

Low-fat cheese like part skim mozzarella

 Reduced-fat or fat-free sour cream

Fat-free condiments. If you can live without sauces and spreads, you might be able to lose weight faster. Many times condiments add calories without adding too much flavor. But if you prefer to add condiments to your meal, choose these fat-free varieties.

 Reduced-fat or fat-free salad dressing

 Light mayo

 Salsa

 Butter buds

 Vinegar

 Cocktail sauce

 Reduced-sugar fruit spread or jam

 Soy sauce

 Tomato sauce

Low-fat or lean protein. Lean protein should top your list of diet-friendly foods. They contain some fat, but provide a powerful nutritional boost.

Lean ground turkey skinless chicken.

Lean cold cuts like sliced boiled ham

Frozen or refrigerated grilled chicken pieces

Fresh or frozen fish and seafood

Eggs, egg substitute, or egg whites

 Almonds

Fat-free treats. In a perfect world, dieters wouldn't need treats. But we all need a sweet treat now and then. These are the best diet-friendly choices. Some contain a little bit of fat, but many are fat-free.

 Hard candies

 Gum

 Tootsie rolls

 Lollipops

 Fat-free jello cups

 Low-fat granola bars

 Low-fat ice cream bars

 Push-ups

 Sorbet

 Sherbet

 Fudgesicles

Fat-free bread and grain products. Try to choose high fiber breads and grains, even if they provide a little bit of fat. But try to keep your choices low in calories.

 Whole-grain, reduced-sugar, and bran cereals

 Whole-grain bread

 Brown rice

 Whole-wheat pita

 Oatmeal (avoid high-sugar packets)

 Whole-grain pasta

By having all of this list of fat-free foods and foods that are diet-friendly, you'll be ready to handle last-moment meal preparation and any cravings that come your way!

Aloe vera is an all-natural remedy for ringworm and numerous other skin problems. Remove the gel from aloe vera and apply it directly on the skin. Leave it on overnight and wash the affected area the next day. Apply it every day till you are cured of your illness. Take homeopathic medicine rhus tox 30 (2 pills) 3 times / day for 5 days. After 5 days revert back for further medicine.

Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight. If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight.

To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1.Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2.Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a.Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B.Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C.If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D.Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. E.Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. F.You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. G.You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

Want to Gain Weight - Foods You Can Include in Your Diet

Sometimes, gaining weight can be very tricky. Many people might want to gain weight due to a variety of reasons; the more common of them being health issues, to increase energy by gaining healthy weight and also to look good.

Gaining weight gradually also helps to ward off certain medical complications, such as osteoporosis which is a condition characterized by brittle and weak bones. It is not advisable to gain weight by eating junk and unhealthy food; intake of too much fat is also very harmful for the body. It is better to gradually increase the intake of food.

Healthy foods to eat for gaining weight:

  1. Nuts: These are very high in protein and fiber and contain 150-200 calories per ounce. Seeds of pumpkin and sunflower are also packed with calories, which help you put a few kilos.

  2. Peanut butter: 100 grams of this delicacy contain about 550 calories; you can also consume almonds or almond supplements to gain weight in a healthy way.

  3. Dried fruits: Raisins, figs, dates and prunes are very healthy because they provide a steady supply of energy throughout the day. A handful (50 grams) of these dried fruits contains about 150 calories.

  4. Starchy vegetables: Vegetables such as corn, peas, potato and artichokes have healthy calories, which help you to gain weight safely. 100 grams of these vegetables on a daily basis also help to enhance your metabolic rate thus, increasing your energy reserve.

  5. Healthy fats and oil: 100 grams of mashed potatoes have about 90 calories whereas, the same portion of oatmeal has about 70 calories. Smoothies can also serve as the perfect food for healthy weight gain, owing to their measured calories (about 42 calories per 100 grams); and also considering the fact that they are a treat to your taste buds. A tablespoon of olive oil has 120 calories. It is advisable to consume food cooked in olive oil to gain weight faster.

  6. Wheat germ and flax meal: Apart from the healthy calories they pack, wheat germ and flax seeds are also rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep a number of cardiovascular diseases at bay.

  7. Beverages: Drink a milkshake made of vanilla yogurt and whole milk. You can also add nuts, olive oil and avocados to your smoothie to add a few more calories. A high calorie diet containing protein powder, banana and yogurt can also help you gain weight without putting on unhealthy fats or calories. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist and ask a free question.

The Pyramid Diet Plan

MSc.PhD Nutrition & Diete, Jr. Research Fellowship for PhD, M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition - Dept. of Post Graduate Studies
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
The Pyramid Diet Plan

The pyramid diet was conceptualised in 1992 and it emphasises the best amount of servings to be consumed daily from the basic food groups (dairy, fruits and vegetables, grains, beans and legumes, meat, oils and fats).

The pyramid is divided into four levels. The very first level is comprised of grains, beans and legumes; the level above it is made up of fruits and vegetable; the third level from the top is composed of meat and dairy products and the very last one on top contains fats, sugars and oils.

The diet aims to divide the food groups in the above mentioned fashion to make you understand just how much to consume from each food group. Here is a breakdown of servings from each food group:

  • Grains- 5 to 7 servings
  • Fruits and vegetables- 2 servings of each
  • Milk and dairy- 3 servings of which 1/2 serving should be dairy products
  • Oils, sugar and fats- 6 teaspoons for oils and minimal servings for fats and sugars

This seems relatively easy to follow, but most people do not understand portion control. The amount or serving of food is called portion control and it is important if you want your diet to work. Here is a guideline that you can follow:

  1. When you are consuming one serving of grains in one sitting, you can choose to eat one cup of cereals or one slice of whole-wheat bread.
  2. When you are eating vegetable or fruits with your breakfast or lunch, choose one and a half cup of chopped vegetables, or one piece of orange, banana or apple.
  3. If you are drinking milk, then one cup of milk in one serving. And, if you are eating meat, choose one ounce of cooked fish or chicken.
  4. Lastly, do not go beyond one teaspoon of vegetable oil and try to keep your sugar intake to the minimum throughout the day.

The pyramid is an excellent guide to lose some weight. You just need some concentration and a ton of commitment to stick to the guide. Along with the diet, don't forget to get some exercise. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

How I gain weight I am feeling very week and all people says increase your weight.

BHMS, DEMS
Homeopath, Pune
Hello If you want to gain weight, then it is very important that you do it right. Binging on soda and donuts may help you gain weight, but it can destroy your health at the same time. If you are underweight, then you want to gain a balanced amount of muscle mass and subcutaneous fat, not a bunch of unhealthy belly fat. Therefore, it is absolutely very important to eat mostly healthy foods even if you are trying to gain weight. Here are food groups and few tips to gain weight, follow this - * You need to eat more calories than your body burns in order to gain weight. Aim for 300-500 calories per day above your maintenance level, or 700-1000 calories if you want to gain weight fast. * Protein forms the building blocks of your muscles. Eating sufficient protein is required to gain muscle weight instead of just fat. *High-protein foods include meats, fish, eggs,  many dairy products, legumes, nuts and others. * In order to gain weight, eat at least 5 meals per day and make sure to eat plenty of fat, carbs and protein. * Don’t drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. * Drink milk. Drinking whole milk to quench thirst is a simple way to get in more high-quality protein and calories. Get enough sleep. Sleep for 7 to 8 hours. If possible take afternoon nap for half an hour. For better results and daily diet plan consult me privately. Take care.
