Mouth is not opening due to chewing of tobacco I left it from one month but its not coming to original stage hardly two fingers r going in please suggest any medicine so that it can come to original stage please doctors help me please.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Lybrate-user it is so nice that you have discontinued the habit of chewing tobacco. Do not pick up any other habit as a substitute as you would be harming yourself. Reduced mouth opening can be due to thickening of the skin inside the mouth due to continuous irritation from tobacco and beetle nut. You need to get a thorough examination done by your dentist at the earliest. In most cases, with the discontinuation of habit, you can see a positive change in mouth opening in about 6 months time. Your dentist may prescribe you multivitamin / antioxidant medicines which you need to consume for your body to reverse the damage. Also, maintain a healthy & balanced diet. ]

Dry mouth can be very difficult to handle at times and it can lead to very nagging problems all through. As per the history it seems she has a tendency towards hyperglycemia already. Taking utmost care is mandatory for such patients. Regarding dry mouth It may be suggested to visit a dentist evry 6 months, keep the oral hygiene proper always. Although the dentist should clinically examine and suggest the needful but as of now you can use Dry Mouth Gel by GC to get away with the discomfort as of now. Hope this serves the purpose as of now but visit a dentist ASAP. Thanks. :-)

Hi lybrate-user, the pain in your tooth can be because of tooth decay, fracture, a damaged filling or other reasons. The most common cause is a long-standing cavity or tooth decay, which usually requires a root canal treatment (rct). The same treatment applies to a tooth fracture as well. In case of a damaged filling, there may be two possibilities: either the filling can be removed and replaced with a new one after applying a soothing base material; or if the damaged filling is placed deep near the nerves of the tooth, it may require an rct. I suggest that that you consult me privately on lybrate, so that I can provide more specific answers. You will be able to send across images of your aching tooth/teeth, and looking at them will help me be in a better position to solve your problem.

Helpful Tips for Dental Braces

Helpful Tips for Dental Braces

Getting braces is the best thing you can do for your teeth. Yes, the process is painful. And maintenance of braces can get too much, but it is not undoable!

When you have braces on teeth, those teeth need extra attention to protect them from decay, staining and gum disease. You should also take precautions to avoid damaging the braces. For example, activities to avoid include eating chewy or sticky sweets, eating hard or crunchy foods, biting your lip, breathing excessively through your mouth and pushing your tongue against your teeth,

So if you got braces for the first time, here are some helpful tips you can swear by. Read on.

  1. Listen to your orthodontist: This is kind of obvious, but seriously, listen to what your orthodontists says. You may wonder if you really need to do this or that, but not paying attention to your doctor’s advice can actually prolong your treatment, and extend the time you need to keep your braces on.

  2. Brush every time you eat: Although brushing twice a day is the standard oral care recommendation, when you wear braces, you should brush after every time you eat — even after that mid-afternoon vending machine snack or some late-night munchies. That's because food particles easily become trapped in the braces, and the longer those particles stay trapped, the greater risk you have of developing dental problems. Use a soft toothbrush with round bristles, or an electric toothbrush if you prefer.

  3. Rubber Bands: If you have been asked to use rubber bands, it is always recommended to carry rubber bands with you all the time, so if one breaks it can be replaced promptly. Rubber bands wear down and lose their elasticity, so they should be replaced often, definitely after every meal. Wearing the rubber bands all the time will keep the treatment progressing at an optimum pace.

  4. Use your back teeth to chew: Don’t bite into that burger with your front teeth like you are accustomed to doing. This actually gets the food to stick on to your braces. So eat food that you can cut into bite size pieces and chew easily with your back teeth.

  5. Drink plenty of water: Skip that soda, which will only erode your teeth, and drink water after meals. This not only keeps you healthy, but with water, you can swish it around your mouth to rinse out any big chunks of food.

  6. Stay away from crunchy food: Crunchy foods are dangerous, not only do they get stuck in your braces, they also can get quite painful to remove. Plus, crunchy foods can be bad news for the shiny braces you just got for yourself.

  7. Speak up: If during an appointment you have any query, no matter how silly, ask your orthodontist. Your doctor is there to help and guide you, so don’t shy away from asking questions and discussing your problems. Or if some part of the brace is hurting mildly, get it checked at once. Air your troubles, that is what your doctor is here for.

After The Braces Are Off-

Whitening products, including whitening toothpaste and mouthwash, should not be used until after braces are removed. After braces come off, some discoloration of the teeth will likely be present, so this is a good time for a child to use whitening strips.

There is a general opinion that mouthwashes can be used regularly just like tooth-brushing. Its advisable to use mouthwashes only when suggested by your dentist rather than using routinely. Kindly consult your dentist for more details regarding the same.

Sir I have yellowish, plaque teeth, some times tooth decay, bad smell etc any solution for me.

Sir I have yellowish, plaque teeth, some times tooth decay, bad smell etc any solution for me.
Hello. When brushing twice a day and flossing doesn't help improve your yellow teeth, it's time to consider other options. Teeth become yellow due to stains – both deep and surface-level – as well as other causes that sometimes aren't under our control. Although coffee and cigarettes leave stains on your teeth over time, thin tooth enamel also makes teeth look yellow. Tooth enamel is the hard, white surface of your teeth, and underneath it is a pale brown substance called dentin. Thick enamel looks white, but thin enamel allows dentin tones to show through, making teeth look yellow from the outside. Enamel naturally wears thin as people age, but acids from foods and drinks such as sour candies, oranges and soda also thin the enamel by eroding its surface. Saliva neutralizes acid and washes it away, but people suffering from dry mouth miss out on this protective effect. Other causes of yellow teeth include antibiotic use or excessive fluoride intake in young children, which can cause yellow-stained adult teeth later. Treatments for certain conditions can also affect tooth color. For example, head and neck radiation and chemotherapy can cause teeth discoloration. In addition, certain infections in pregnant mothers can cause tooth discoloration in the infant by affecting enamel development. Certain medication, mouth rinses can also causes yellow staining. Preventing Yellow Teeth: Avoiding smoking, coffee and soda helps prevent yellow teeth, or you can get into the habit of drinking those darker beverages through a straw. Drink milk or plain water after eating or drinking something acidic to help reduce the acid's eroding effect. Brushing and flossing also help, and avoiding snacks between meals allows your saliva to dilute the acids in your mouth too. Using over-the-counter whitening agents will also helps. Discolorations are generally responsive to bleaching procedures. You can opt for scaling, consult a dentist. And use homoeopathic toothpaste - SBL's Homoeodent twice (morning and at night) daily.

Toothache is mainly due to carious lesion or periodontal problem....first we have to identify the cause then we can start the treatment part..for pain relief ,you can take an analgesic....also start warm saline gargles.... if the problem persist, you need to consult a dentist for more specific diagnosis and treatment would be tailored accordingly
