Dear Lybrate user. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases You can clear the problem yourself. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. Take care.

Danger Called Refined Carbs - 4 Reasons It's Slowing You Down

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Danger Called Refined Carbs - 4 Reasons It's Slowing You Down
Carbs or carbohydrates are present in most foods. They provide energy and ensure that the body functions normally. But refined carbs or the ones that have been processed are very harmful. Apart from adding too many calories, they also increase the risk of developing diabetes and other medical conditions. You find refined carbs in most of the packaged foods - from jellies to pastries, white table sugar to soda pop, cereals to desserts and processed syrups.

Listed below are 4 dangers why we must think before we eat.

1) Carry Minimal Nutritional Value - What distinguishes refined carbs from unrefined carbs is that they don't have the outer bran layer, which is a germ that has several minerals, lots of fibres and essential fatty acids. This bran layer is stripped away to increase the shelf life which gives you refined carbs that have zero to minimal level of nutritional value.

2) Are Addictive - If you are too fond of having pizzas, pastas, burgers etc. Then you may be addicted to eating refined carbs. This happens because of high glycaemic index meal, which increases hunger, stimulates brain regions to associate reward with more food and happiness and decreases blood plasma glucose.

3) Cause of Lifestyle Diseases - They also decrease and affect the metabolism, which in turn can lead to weight gain, obesity and diabetes-2 among other problems.

4) Cause of Behavioural Problems - They may cause blood sugar spikes, inflammation in the body, acne and eczema, behaviour issues, emotional problems, hyperactivity, bloating, yeast infections, premature ageing, allergies among other problems.

To adopt a healthy lifestyle, you must avoid these refined carbs are much as possible and stick to complex carbs in whole grains and vegetables.

How much harmful it is to drink water from a plastic bottle (say Coca cola bottle) daily as a habit?

How much harmful it is to drink water from a plastic bottle (say Coca cola bottle) daily as a habit?
This a buzz going around the world. It is dangerous to drink water from plastic bottles as the plasticisers will leach in to water causing hormonal imbalance. They might also cancer. Drinking coke from plastic bottles is more dangerous as coke itself is full of sugar. 1 200 ml of coke have 20 cubes of sugar. Which is very high and stresses your pancreas. On long run you end with chronic ailments like diabetes, thyroid, alzheimer's. Hope this helps you. Stay away from plastic as much as possible.

Normally marijuana or ganja does not have such results but it is commonly seen that people selling them lace it with chemicals to give a bigger kick and is very harmful. Now since you have left it, rest assured, all effects will be reversed. So. Do not worry. There is no problem now.

I am not able to eat spicy food. I used to chew tobacco. I have been chewing them from past a year.
Dear Lybrate user, Welcome to Lybrate. Chewing tobacco addiction also comes under abuse and addiction. If you’re ready to stop the substance and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from addiction and abuse —no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of addiction. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan. Take care.

Hi lybrate-user. I appreciate you seeking help. Following is what you can include in a low fiber diet - (a) poultry - tender meat cuts, chicken (well cooked and soft), scrambled egg whites. (b) dairy - fresh yogurt, cottage cheese, custard, ice cream, soups etc all (c) breads & cereals - white breads, white rice, plain pasta or noodles (d) vegetables - fresh and well cooked tender vegetables without any seeds, skin, stems etc all. Vegetable soups and juices (without pulp) can be taken too. (e) fruits - small amount of soft cooked fruit without skin and seeds, clear fruit juice, well ripened banana in small amounts, (f) apart from the above-mentioned, he can have dark chocolates, mayonnaise, plain gravy, honey, jellies etc all too subject to his health condition foods that he needs to avoid are as follows - high fiber foods including peas, beans, lentils, legumes, nuts, processes meats, tough meats, brown rice, dried fruits, raisins, wheat germ, canola, coconut, bran, whole grains and whole wheat products, steamed vegetables, corn, cabbage, cauliflower, onions, potatoes with skin, berries, marmalades, pickles, potato chips, olives, horseradish, cucumber etc all are best avoided. The above-mentioned is subject to your consulting doc's concurrence too. He may have to drink lots of clear fluids unless advised otherwise by his doc. Your consulting medical oncologist can best advise on the next steps post surgery. However, an integrated therapy that extrapolates the best of conventional medicine and naturopathic/ alternative medicine to further treatment shall be a desirable approach to treat, going forward. You may connect with me should you require me to complement appropriately. Hope this helps. Take care and all the very best.

Everyday I get sweat in my hands and legs, and many time my face also get sweat and when air condition is on my legs and hands get very cooled. What is the reason behind this? I am suffering this problem from many years, I did not consult any doctor.

21. Hyperhidrosis is defined as sweating beyond the physiological need of the body. The condition causes great emotional distress and occupational disability . Sweating is a way by which the body regulates its temperature. Sweat is produced by sweat glands located in the skin in various parts of the body. These sweat glands have their highest concentrations in the palms of the hands. The activity of sweat glands is under the control of the sympathetic nervous system and is involuntary. Over activity of the sympathetic nervous system can cause excessive sweating. Sweating is a way by which the body regulates its temperature. There is no medical cure for this condition. Although, numerous medications are available in the market, they at best help only the mildest forms of the disease. Removal of controlling nerves (ganglion) in the neck can cure Palmer Hyperhidrosis immediately. It had not gained much popularity till recently because of the need for Thoracotomy to be able to do removal of ganglion (cervical sympathectomy).
