Lybrate-user, to reduce or stop hair fall tsh level has to come down to about 3 to 4 milli units/l. If level is higher than this, then hair fall may not stop. So please check what is the current tsh level. Rest of the things like using a shampoo and various oils etc is really of no consequence. If dandruff is more you may use some anti fungal scalp lotion along with shampoos. But most important is the tsh level. Thanks.

Are Bananas Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly?

Are Bananas Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly?

Are Bananas Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly?

People who want to improve their health are often advised to eat more fruits and vegetables. However, some people worry that high-sugar fruits like bananas can be fattening.

This article explores whether bananas will make you gain or lose weight.

Nutrition Facts of Bananas

Bananas are high in many nutrients and provide many health benefits

They contain lots of fiber, carbs and some essential vitamins and minerals.

A medium-sized banana contains

  • Potassium: 12% of the RDI.
  • Vitamin B6: 20% of the RDI.
  • Vitamin C: 17% of the RDI.
  • Magnesium: 8% of the RDI.
  • Copper: 5% of the RDI.
  • Manganese: 15% of the RDI.
  • Fiber: 3.1 grams.

This is coming with around 105 cal, 90% of which come from carbs. Most of the carbs in ripe bananas are sugars - sucrose, glucose, and fructose.

On the other hand, bananas are low in both fat and protein.

Bananas also contain a number of beneficial plant compounds and antioxidants, including dopamine and catechin.

Bananas Are High in Fiber, But Low in Calories

Calorie for calorie, bananas contain a lot of fiber. One medium banana provides around 12% of your recommended daily intake, with just 105 calories.

Fiber is important for maintaining regular bowel habits and plays a vital role in digestive health. An adequate fiber intake is also linked to reduced body weight. This effect is thought to occur because fiber makes you feel full for longer, which may help you eat fewer calories over the long term.

The Greener the Banana, the Higher the Resistant Starch

The type of carbs in a banana depends on how ripe it is.

Unripe, green bananas are high in starch and resistant starch, while ripe, yellow bananas contain mostly sugars. Resistant starches are long chains of glucose (starch) that are resistant to digestion. They act like soluble fiber in the body and have lots of potential health benefits. This includes weight loss and reduced blood sugar levels. Resistant starch can also slow down the absorption of sugar from foods. This keeps your blood sugar levels stable and helps you feel full. Furthermore, resistant starch may also increase fat burning.

Bananas Have a Low Glycemic Index, But it Depends on Ripeness

The glycemic index (GI) measures how much foods raise blood sugar levels. If a food scores lower than 55, it's considered to have a low GI. 56-69 is medium, while a score above 70 is high. Foods that contain a lot of simple sugars are quickly absorbed and have a high GI value since they cause a greater rise in blood sugar levels. Eating a lot of high-GI foods has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Foods with more slowly absorbed carbs have a lower GI and keep your blood sugar levels stable. Since bananas are 90% carbs, they're sometimes considered to be a high-sugar fruit that could spike your blood sugar. However, the GI score of bananas is 42-62, depending on ripeness. This makes them low to medium on the glycemic index.

Ripe bananas have a higher GI than greener bananas. The sugar content increases as the banana matures, which in turn affects your blood sugar levels. That said, overall bananas seem to release their sugars slowly.

Low-GI foods like bananas may also help you feel full and keep blood sugar levels stable. This may lead to weight loss over time.

Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly?

Bananas are healthy and nutritious, there is no doubt about that. They are also high in fiber, but low in calories.

Most bananas have a low to medium glycemic index, and should not cause big spikes in blood sugar levels compared to other high-carb foods.

Although there are no studies that directly examine the effects of bananas on weight, they do have several properties that should make them a weight loss friendly food.

If you are trying to lose weight, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating bananas as a part of a balanced, real food based diet.

Hello lybrate-user, take a home pregnancy test. You can buy it from any chemist store, as soon as possible. If it is negative then there is nothing to worry about. Just relax and avoid stress for some days, using contraceptive pills can also cause disturbance in periods. Hope this helps.

Breakfast should be heavy. Lunch and dinner may be light. Avoid milk during the night. Find time for some exercise. Atleast a 30 min walk everyday. Consult a dietician for complete chart which will be personalised for you.

I have hairfall problem. Whatever I do. Am losing my hair continuously. Please help me out in this.
Besides diet excessive stress, current/past dandruff and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I may also prescribe medications like biotin or minox. Start below mention tips. 1. Eat healthy and balanced food like pulses (soyabin is best for hair), egg, green leafy vegetables, fishes, fruits and nuts etc. 2. Drink more water (12 to 15 glass per day) 3. Avoid stress and anger 4. For prevention of fungal infection in scalp wash your hair regularly with some good shampoo. You can use conditioner for smoothing of hair quality. 5. Avoid combing of wet hair. 6. Do not share your towel or comb with other people. Try these tips. For medicines consult me on private.

Hypoglycemia - How To Manage Risk Associated With It?

Hypoglycemia - How To Manage Risk Associated With It?

For a healthy, non-diabetic person, the blood glucose level should be between 70-100 mg/dl (fasting) and not more than 140 mg/dl (postprandial, checked 2 hours after a meal). However certain conditions (especially diabetic patients who are on oral medications or insulin) can result in the blood glucose level to fall abnormally low (well below 70 mg/dl), a condition medically known as Hypoglycemia.

A sudden dip in the blood glucose level can cause weakness, increased heartbeats, palpitations, dizziness, profuse sweating, headache, shakiness, confusions (a person loses the ability of proper thinking and reasoning). The skin may also turn pale. A person finds it difficult to sleep. In extreme and untreated cases, a person may lose consciousness and even slip into a coma. If you experience any of the mentioned symptoms, seek assistance immediately.

Risks associated with Hypoglycemia and how to manage it
Diabetic patients should be extra careful with their diets and medications. As already stated, untreated hypoglycemia, especially if the blood glucose level is below 40 mg/dl can cause a serious health scare. A more serious type of hypoglycemia is the one that a person experiences at night, often in their sleep, a condition termed as Nocturnal Hypoglycemia. Many people in their sleep are unable to react promptly, resulting in serious consequences.

Further, there may be

  1. Night sweats
  2. A person may get nightmares and wake up feeling tired and exhausted in spite of having their full quota of sleep
  3. Some people may also experience great difficulty in waking up
  4. Headaches are also common

For diabetic patients, the situation at times can prove to be life threatening. To avoid such situations:

  1. Doctors always advise night snacks (can be a cucumber, small apple slice, a small slice of bread with meat or cheese. Try and avoid a high carb or high-fat foods) especially for people with diabetes or those who take their dinner early.
  2. Consuming alcohol at night can also trigger Nocturnal Hypoglycemia and is best left avoided.
  3. To provide instant relief, the affected person should be made to eat something sweet such as glucose tablets or candy. If these are not available, you can also give the person some sugar (between 10-15 grams) to increase the glucose level in their body.
  4. It is important that you do not panic.
  5. As a safety measure, it is best to keep a glucometer at home and get your glucose level checked every alternate day (if not every day).
  6. One should also be careful about their diet. Do not keep your stomach empty for a long time. Munch on small snacks at regular intervals.

Hypoglycemia can be treated and managed if diagnosed at an early stage. Prolonged hypoglycemia (mainly in diabetic patients) can also result in cardiac problems.

How to remove my pimples in my face and his marks also please give me a suggestion fastly.
Pimple never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e on scars. You may have heard that applying vitamin e to a scar will help it heal faster. But according to a study, applying the nutrient directly onto a scar can actually hinder its healing like daily apply night microbenz cream daytime use ahaglo facewash.

Dear Lybrate User, *Exercise is an important part of life. It increases metabolism and burns fat and also brings balance as well as mental clarity. The health benefits of yoga are vast. Taking up a daily yoga practice along with breathing exercises (pranayama) is an effective way for maintaining a healthy body weight. *At the very least, a 20 minute brisk walk should be incorporated into a morning daily routine. This will move lymph and reduce adipose tissue. *Napping during the day will increase the qualities that lead to weight gain; heavy, slow, dull, oily, gross and soft. It is best to obtain a good night’s sleep and to establish regular arising and sleeping times to set the body into a healthy routine. *Fresh vegetables such as beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, leafy greens, onions, garlic, peppers and sprouts will help increase the light element in the body. Fruits to favor include; berries, apples, pears, pomegranate, raisins, lemons, prunes and apricots. Generally heavier and sweet fruit and vegetables such as potatoes, cucumber, zucchini, bananas, coconuts, avocados, oranges, grapes and pineapples are best avoided.
