I have a problem of tinnitus and vertigo. (I am not sure but I think it's called menorrhagia disease) I have been taking prescribed medicines but it hasn't helped much. Apple cider vinegar also helped. Can you help me with controlling the symptoms? Is surgery the only option? I am not so much willing to get deaf! Thanks in advance.

MBBS, Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), DNB (ENT)
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
It is mostly Meniere's disease. If you r getting tinnitus and virtigo episodically lasting for. 2 days. First get the investigations done. 1.PTA 2.Impedance 3. Special tests Then get yourself checked by ENT specialist. The disease can be controlled very well with intermittent medications. So do not worry. Get tested by specialist.

I get too much snore in sleep. The sound is too much high as told by my spouse. Can you please help me with any solutions to reduce it.

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, please follow these tips to stop snoring: - reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - sleep on sides instead on back. - elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - clear the nose before going to bed. - establish regular sleep pattern. - keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - anti snoring appliances can also be used.

I am having problem in my ear. Its paning a lot. I do not know what should I do. I went to doctor but he said every thing is normal.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
AS doctor said ear is normal, it amy be referred pain from other causes and need a full check up .Just as the pain from earache affects people in different ways, there are a variety of causes of earache. Some of them affect the ear itself, others are from conditions affecting areas close to the ears. Common reasons for earache include: Fluid building up deep inside the eardrum. Known as glue ear, this affects children more than adults Infection of the ear canal outside the eardrum (otitis externa) A boil or infected hair follicle in the ear canal Eczema in the ear canal ( seborrhoeic dermatitis) Injury in the ear canal from objects poked inside, such as cotton buds or sharp objects Blockages in the ear from plugs of earwax or objects pushed in which have become stuck Throat infections (including tonsillitis) and colds Jaw pain, known as temperomandibular joint pain Dental abscess in the mouth or other tooth pain, such as wisdom teeth problems Trigeminal neuralgia or facial nerve pain

Sir what are tonsils? What are the symptoms for that? And how it can be prevented?

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Tonsils are immunocompetent tissues which are the first line of defense against ingested or inhaled pathogens. When they get infected the person has pain in the throat / difficulty in swallowing / fever. Improving once resistance by eating a nutritious & a healthy balanced diet.

My Daughter is 9 years old she is having ear problem. We had counsel a Ear specialist he told that she has a hole in her right ear drum and in her left ear there is decay / rottenness on ear bone. He told us that for decay / rottenness we have to do operation in her ear. My question is there remedy in medicine to cure her decay or is it okay to do operation at this age? (Most of time she suffer from cold)

Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
What's doctor is trying say is your daughter is having ear disease known as cholesteatoma. Its dangerous disease and needs to be operated if confirmed. My advise is to take second opinion and go ahead with surgery as there is no other treatment.

Since you are already using medicines for vertigo. I suggest you to go for vestibular labrynth exercises like dix hallpike etc. Your physiotherapist can teach you these exercises. But only certain types of vertigo respond to those type of exercises. Please consult a general physician to rule out any other problems.

Because of intake of too many antibiotics also will cause to reduce your appetite. Now becoz of those all medications you have taken resulted that. Wait for some more time. Automatically, you will be normal. But you can also try taking alfa alfa syrup, with % phos tablets daily twice also will help you to feel normalcy, to improve your appetite. Meanwhile, you can take jaljeera, amla with honey flakes. Which will decrease your tongue, s bitterness, improves digestion. Take more water whether you feel like to take or not.
