Just start with pranayam and yoga exercises early in the morning atleast for 45 min daily. Take proper sleep at night. Avoid spicy fried and junk food. Avoid tea coffee and aerated drinks.

Walking for 1 km is so much. However if you exhaust easily after small work and palpitation occurs it may be due to anemia or some heart trouble may be there. Consult to nearby doctor. Take healthy and nutritious food. Take glucose water three to four times in a day. Take homeopathic five phos tablets, 4 tablet, 6 times daily.

Is gerd curable maybe I injured my osphageous while inhaling a tablet it caused pain near my mid chest left side bone twice but it was 3 months ago while I was not facing chest burn but after one month I M getting continues chest burn n pain like feeling I don't feel nauseous only my chest burns is it gerd or something related to my osphageous n is it curable with meds.

Dear lybrateuser, - Yes, gerd is curable with proper medication & following dietary precautions - follow some dietary precautions, do not skip meals, have meals on time, chew your food well, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, do not lye down for at least 1-2 hrs after meals, raise the pillow end 4-6 inches at night while sleeping, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - take tablet Pan D, 1 tab half an hour before breakfast - have 7-8 glasses of water for proper digestion - if not much improvement then you may require investigations, consult a doctor.

Chest pain causes 1. Heart disease 2. Stress, anxiety 3. Lack of exercise 4. Sedentary life style 5. Obesity (over weight) 6. Smoking, tobacco and alcohol consumption 7. Excess oily, fatty, cholesterol rich diet, junk food 8. Hyperacidity, musculr pain 9. Heredity and genetic factor prevention follow the advice given below 1. Avoid stress and strain 2. Do regular exercise, yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercise like pranayama etc. It will calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 3 avoid alcohol, smoking and tobacco consumption. 4. Take bland diet, avoid spicy, oily, fatty and junk food 5. Take paracetamol 500mg one tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets daily, at the time of chest pain 6. How Does High Fiber Diet Affect Your Heart?

Most people associate fibre to be good for the digestive system. It helps to add roughage and therefore helps in avoiding constipation. When we dig deeper, the fibre seems to do good not just to the stomach but to the heart as well. Those who are prone to develop heart disease should make an attempt to include more fibre in their diet and reap the rich benefits it offers.

There are two classifications of fibres

  1. Dietary
  2. Functional 

Dietary are found in diet products and functional being added fibre through various food supplements. Soluble and insoluble fibre, based on their solubility in water. Most foods contain some amounts of both. The insoluble one has more digestive benefits, as it adds to the roughage. Both types have cardiac benefits.

Read on to know some of the cardiac benefits of fibres.

  1. Reduces cholesterol: There is good cholesterol which is essential for the body, and there is bad cholesterol causes heart disease. What fibres do is reduce the amount of bad and overall cholesterol in circulation. The fibre binds to the cholesterol and removes it from the body, which otherwise would get into circulation and lead to plaque formation and heart disease.
  2. Reduces blood pressure: Because the cholesterol does not circulate in the blood stream, the blood is not as viscous and therefore the vessels exert much less pressure to allow for free flow. A diet change to whole grains can show a marked difference in people with hypertension.
  3. Weight management: Eating fibre means more bulk and fewer calories so that a person feels full after eating smaller amounts. This is a great way to lose weight and bring preexisting heart disease under control.
  4. Stroke prevention: The circulating cholesterol usually gets sluggish and settles down along the walls of the blood vessels. This attracts more cholesterol, which eventually forms what is knowns as plaque. When this plaque attains a considerable size, it gets dislodged, circulates in the blood stream, and can reach any of the vital organs. When it reaches the heart or brain, it can lead to heart attack or stroke. By removing the cholesterol which leads to all these complications, fibre reduces the incidence of stroke and heart attacks.
  5. Management of diabetes: Blood pressure, increased weight, and heart disease all are predisposing factors and have common contributing factors as does diabetes. Controlling all these helps in prolonging the onset of diabetes and reducing its severity too.

High-fiber diet mainly reduces cholesterol which helps in multiple ways to maintain not just a healthy body but also improves the overall quality of life. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cardiologist.

It may gas distention trouble. Have simple food for next few days avoiding fried, junk, oily, spicy food items. Drink lot of water. Do not lye-down or sit immediately after having meals. Have a walk instead. Maintain good bowel habits. For gas some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Please update with your valuable feedback.

It is quite difficult comment without actually examining the patient in such specific complaint. History of open heart surgery years ago and swelling in one leg now does not seem to have any obvious link. A Doppler examination of the affected leg is advisable to lok for evidence of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis ). Let a qualified physicianexamine her without wasting time and follow his advice accordingly.

Coconut oil is high in saturated fats. So not to eb used on a regular basis. Instaed an oil combination of mustard oil, sesame seed/rice bran oil is helpful in achieveing the desired fatty acid ratio. 1. Have small frequent meals at 2-3 hrs interval instead of 3-4 large meals only 2. Drink 2-3 litres water daily 3. Avoid table salt, junk, fried, processed, preserved, sugary foods & drinks, alcohol. 4. Replace simple carbs (sugar, jaggery, honey, maida, sago, cornflour, arrowroot flour, potato, biscuit, cake, white rice, white bread) with complex carbs (whole fruits, vegetables, salads, whole grains-atta, dalia, suji, oats, millets, barley, brown rice, atta bread, quinoa, whole legumes-sprouts, soyabean, pseudo cereals-rajgira, makhana, & nuts, oilseeds). 5. Avoid skipping meals 6. Have early & light dinner. 7. Sleep & wake up early. Have a sound sleep 8. Brisk walk daily for 1 hr. 9. Walk/ cycle instead of taking transport, take stairs instead of lift/ escalator. 10. Cut down on total oil consumption. 11. Avoid sleeping in afternoon 12. Take 15 mins light walk post main meals. Avoid sitting for an hr at a stretch continuously. 13. If you can not do without white rice in meals, then make it once a day & reduce the quantity. Use a combination of other cereals in same meal-ex: multigrain atta roti/ bajra roti. Include salads/stew & vegetables in large quantity in all main meals. Have low fat curd, sprouts/soyabean/nutrella, /fish/chicken/egg (not fried) in the same meal. This way you can bring down the GI of the meal. 14. Have a coconut water (w/o cream) daily. 15. Replace cooking salt with rock salt & cut salt in cooking to half. Use lemon, vinegar, herbs to enhance the flavor of your foods instead.

At age 28, when I randomly went for a health check up. I was bit surprised and shocked. My BP was on a higher side. 160+ / 84+ Doctor advised me for a detailed investigation/diagnosis of it frm a specialty hospital. My question here is what are the reason to have such BP at dis age ? I don't have any major health issues till now. What do I need to control this from now on ? What diet should I follow and what do I need to overcome this ? Please advise.

It might be hereditary if your parents or grandparents were hypertensive. It may also be caused by smoking/ obesity/ high intake of salt & processed foods/stress. 1. have 1 coconut water daily (without cream) 2. Replace your salt with rock salt & tata salt lite 3. Avoid table salt, processed & ready to eat, canned foods 4. Restrict egg intake to 2 times a week 5. Cut down salt in cooking, use flavour enhancers like lemon, vinegar, herbs, spices, condiments 6. Do some sort of exercise daily (brisk walk/ yoga) & be physically active 7. Have a positive attitude & reduce stress via meditation
