Hello Doctor; My wife, 30 year old suffer for PCOS disorder along with thyroid since last 3 years. Till date She was never administered any medication for Pcos. Her Menses are regular. But today when we visited a gynec, she suggested her "Myofetol-XL" I am not able to find any details of this medicine over the internet. I also had a a lot of problem in procuring this medicine as it was not available easily with the chemist. I am now wondering is this medicine safe and what it is for.

Lybrate-user, I would suggest you to consult once as in Homeopathy we do not have a fixed medicine for the symptom or condition. We prescribe medicine depending upon the individual after taking the complete case. If I understand you correctly then you wife has been taking medication for her thyroid issue since last 3 years, however, for PCOS she has been prescribed now. In allopathy the medication depends upon the condition but in Homeopathy the selecion of medicines depends upon the person as whole. As the doctor has prescribed you a certain medicine, it would be depending upon her current situation and probably must be safe, however, I would suggest you to try homeopathy once a this treatment could help your wife recover completely.

I love the concept of healing with food, food as medicine, or as I like to call it, food pharmacology

Turmeric is a plant of the ginger family that is often used in Indian cuisines. This plant has a long history of medicinal use, and  it’s most studied active ingredient has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral activity.

Historically, turmeric has been used to treat pain , stomach and liver ailments , many skin conditions like  sores, eczema and skin rashes.

Excess inflammation is always present in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (the suffix "itis" denotes inflammation in the thyroid gland .It is most common cause of Hypothyroidism). Turmeric can be helpful in reducing whole body inflammation

Studies of the effect of curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric on the thyroid gland and autoimmunity have showed encouraging results.

Curcumin showed tumor inhibiting activity in thyroid cancer.

Curcumin was protective against the genetic damage and side effects induced by radioactive iodine that is sometimes used to treat Graves’ disease (hyperthyroidism)

Curcumin has anti-inflammatory benefits that can be helpful in down-regulating autoimmune conditions

While curcumin can also boost glutathione (an antioxidant that's often depleted in Hashimoto's)

Use of turmeric helped in reducing pain , increase in energy , improvement in mood and an improvement in thyroid antibodies

Daily intake of curcumin in a typical Indian diet may be anti-inflammatory, however, curcumin is cleared from the body within one hour or so
Combining curcumin with piperine, (found in pepper), extends the life of curcumin in the body, helping it to stick around longer.

I also made Turmeric Tea (recipe below) twice per day

1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of ginger
pinch of pepper
pinch of cinnamon
juice of one lemon
sweetener to taste (Stevia is Dr.Tanvi’s  top recommendations)
1 cup of hot water

Directions: Put all ingredients in cup of your choice, top of with boiling water and mix!

Thank you for Reading it. I hope it will be helpful to you.

There are different options and which option to utilise depends on medical history, examination findings, other reports and goal to achieve. Best is let treating Gynecologist or infertility specialist decide that.

There are very less chances of pregnancy, if you don't want to take a risk then you should go for emergency contraception.

U have to keep repeating the test every week till you get your menses. You r most likely not pregnant as usually it comes positive by 7 days and you r also feeling that pain like menses. You should use oc pills like novelon from day 2 of menses to avoid all this if you have regualar sex.

In my opinion the ovary size seems to be okay and what we should be concentrating is the size of the follicles inside the ovaries.

Four weeks delayed means you are already 8 weeks pregnant if you want to abort you should consult a gynaecologist and get it done by evacuation method oral pills at this stage can give you more problems like excessive bleeding pain and infection etc.
