Menstrual cycle can be disturbed if you have an imbalance of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. It's not unusual to have a hormone imbalance for a few years after puberty and before the menopause. This can cause your menstrual cycle to become longer or shorter. Your periods may also become lighter or heavier. Lifestyle The following lifestyle factors can also upset your balance of hormones and cause irregular bleeding: • extreme weight loss or weight gain • excessive exercise • stress Polycystic ovary syndrome Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) occurs when very small cysts (small, fluid-filled sacs) develop in the ovaries. The usual symptoms of PCOS are irregular or light periods or no periods at all. This is because, in women with PCOS, ovulation (the release of an egg) may not take place as often as normal. The production of hormones may also be unbalanced, and you could have higher levels of testosterone than normal. Testosterone is a male hormone that women usually have a small amount of. Thyroid disorders A thyroid disorder is another possible, but rare, cause of irregular periods. The thyroid gland, found in the neck, produces hormones that maintain the body's metabolism (the chemical processes your body uses to turn food into energy). Your Doctor may test for a thyroid problem by taking a blood test to check levels of thyroid hormones in your blood. Anaemia Iron deficiency due to improper diet intake can ometimes lead to irregular periods. So a thorough phyical examination is required regarding the weight History,Menstrual history,Dietary habits and any life tyle change that tookplace in her life.Only then we can reach to a diagnosis and can start a treatment for that particular problem

scoliosis
Scoliosis – an “S”- or “C”-shaped curve –is generally seen in childhood, but it can also come about in adulthood.
*Scoliosis in adults can arise due to a variety of reasons, including genetics, uneven pelvic position, past spinal or joint surgeries, knee or foot distortions, or even head injuries.
*Some curves are deeper than others, and in moderate to severe cases, the means to correction is surgery.
*Scoliosis is measured by Cobb's angle( shown in X-RAY ) When this angle is 10-40°, it's postural and grade 1 scoliosis.
>40° is called structural and grade 2 scoliosis.
>60° is called grade 3 scoliosis.
If you suspect scoliosis, you should consult your doctor about an appropriate treatment plan.

Hi lybrate-user, do not worry if cord around neck is loose. Because it may release when baby moves. Keep strict watch on babies movement. Pain you are having could be due constipation. See if pain is associated with watery fluid through vagina or blood stained discharge persistent pain associated with back pain and hardening of the uterus. You should visit gynaecologist.

If you had sex just after her periods then chances of pregnancy is less. Wait for her periods for another 4-5 days. Most likely she ll have her periods. If not then do urine pregnancy test after 5 days.

HPV Infection in Men

Much of the information about HPV virus (human papillomavirus) centers on women, since having the virus increases their risk of getting cervical cancer. But HPV virus in men can cause health problems, too. It's important for men to understand how to reduce the risks of HPV infection.

HPV infection can increase a man's risk of getting genital cancers, although these cancers are not common. HPV can also cause genital warts in men, just as in women.

Risks of HPV Infection in Men

Some of the 30 or so types of HPV associated with genital cancers can lead to cancer of the anus or penis in men. Both of these cancer types are rare, especially in men with a healthy immune system.

The Symptoms of HPV in Men

The types of high-risk HPV that can cause cancer rarely present any symptoms in men or in women. Genital warts are the first symptom you may see with low-risk HPV strains that cause warts but not cancer.

How to Prevent Spreading HPV

Abstinence is the only sure way to prevent HPV transmission. Risk of transmission can be lowered if a person has sex only with one person who is not infected and who is also monogamous.

To lower the risk of HPV transmission, men can also limit the number of sex partners and pick partners who have had few or no partners in the past.

Condoms can provide some protection against HPV transmission. Unfortunately, they aren't 100% effective, since HPV is transmitted primarily by skin-to-skin contact. The virus can still infect the skin uncovered by the condom.

In a recent study of young women who had just become sexually active, those whose partners used a condom each time they had sex were 70% less likely to get an HPV infection than were women whose partners used a condom less than 5% of the time

Me and my girlfriend had intercourse 2 days ago. 1 day before intercourse she was suffering from vomiting. Whatever food she was eating she has vomited. It was wrong to have had intercourse when the girl was having vomiting. On top of it you gave unwanted 72 without getting her treated. You are worried about ipill rather than the girl and her vomiting. Don't worry about pregnancy. Take her to the hospital and get her treated.

To get pregnant you need to have fallopian tubes patent which is checked by hsg test and semen should be adequate quality which is checked by semen analysis. These both tests are done before the treatment of any infertile couple. Once the above tests are normal, then treatment with clomiphene citrate is started with monitoring of egg. Laparoscopy is done only when initial treatment failed for u.

What can b the safe days to have sex without condom. I don't want my wife to b pregnant. And want to do sex without condom some times in the months.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FCPS, DGO, Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning (DFFP)
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
If she has regular periods these days can be calculated easily but with irregular periods difficult. The day of ovulation is supposed to be 14 th day prior to next expected period plus or minus 1 day. Sperms after intercourse may survive for 48 hrs. So you should add 2 days before 15 th day (before next expected period) and 1 day after 13 th day (before next expected periods), these days to be avoided rest of the days are called safe period however not very safe compared to other methods of family planning. In case you find difficult to understand or calculate go to medical practitioner with history of her menstrual periods and medical practitioner can calculate and inform you.

When is the best time to have sex with my girlfriend ? Can we have during her periods?

When is the best time to have sex with my girlfriend ? Can we have during her periods?
No, Day 1 to day 7 and day 21 to rest of the cycle are known to be “safe days” or your “safe period”. The method is perfect only for women whose menstrual cycles are regular, i.e. 25 to 32 days cycles. This method is not completely reliable.
