Treatment dental pain teeth pain may be due to various reasons like infection, sensitivity or trauma. If your teeth is decayed it is better to get it filled or treated by a dentist. If you are opting for root canal treatment do not forget to get a crown on the effected tooth. If you want to go for only medicinal treatment so let me tell you only medicine are not going to be very effective untill you get this treated by a dentist.

Kindly consult an orthodontist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (Model study, Full mouth & profile x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed / removable braces. Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry (braces) varies with dentist. You may consult me in person.

I have gum bleeding problem from last few years. Please suggest me what to do. Thanks in advance.
Dear lybrate-user, you have bleeding gums due to accumulation of food debris, which is a result of inadequate maintenance of oral hygiene. I suggest that you get thorough professional cleaning/scaling done from a dentist, and use antibacterial mouthwashes thereafter. You should also clean your tongue twice daily with a tongue cleaner. Following all these measures will solve your problem. Hope that helps.

My mouth is closed from 3 year due to chewing of gutka what should I do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist,
Quit habits strictly. Seems like you have oral submucous fibrosis (osmf). Kindly consult an oral & maxillofacial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need conservative or surgical management for mouth opening depending upon the stage of osmf, mouth opening exercise & side to side movement of the jaw. As for now advice c. Becosules 5 cap (enriched with vitamin a, vitamin b & vitamin e specifically), for five days in the morning after meals. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

In brushing time, blood is coming from teeth and some times pain in mouth. Please help me sir.
Hi, mostly, bleeding gums occur due to plaque or calculus over your teeth and gum line area. You should check if there is any yellowish or grayish layers around the teeth especially near gum area. For the proper diagnosis of the reason, you should consult a dentist near by and take a deep cleaning of your teeth, it should be done at least once per year. However there may be some other reasons for that we need some more investigation including clinical examination. Brush twice properly, use mouthwash, properly clean your tongue, gargling after eating especially after eating sticky or sugary food or drinks will help you reducing it, but to get it diagnosed the proper reason for weak gums is necessary and for that consult a nearby dentist.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Why Brushing Before Bedtime Is So Important

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist,
Why Brushing Before Bedtime Is So Important
Our mouth is constantly cleaned by the action of saliva. During night time the secretion of saliva is reduced and ultimately the cleaning action is reduced. This is the favourable time and situation for the germs to act for a longer time on your teeth causing cavities. This is added with the food remnants present after taking dinner which becomes the dinner for the germs.
These conditions can be changed by night brushing which removes the food debris and reduces the germs that cause cavities.

What is remedy for mouth bittering for 01 years old child?

CERTIFIED ORAL IMPLANTOLOGIST, NON-RESIDENT J.R. IN DEPTT. OF ORTHODONTICS, BDS
Dentist,
If it is related to thumb sucking, you can apply a piece of gauge over the thumb of child dipped in betadine or it can be thrush cuased by candida albicans thrush is usually treated with a prescription medicine called nystatin which is given four times a day. The dosage is 0. 5ml to each side of the child' s mouth if they are under 30 days old, and 1 ml to each side of their mouth for older infants and toddlers. Treatment is continued for about 7 to 10 days and at least 3 days after you no longer see any signs of thrush. If your child' s infection isn' t quickly improving after a few days, you may want to use a gauze to directly rub the medication on the white patches. Although your child will likely swallow the dose of nystatin, since it isn' t absorbed, it is the direct contact with the yeast that combats the infection. Fluconazole (diflucan) is another prescription medication that can be used as an alternative to nystatin. It has the benefit of once a day dosing, but it is more expensive than nystatin and is usually used as a second line treatment, when nystatin doesn' t work. Keep in mind that in one small study, comparison of fluconazole and nystatin oral suspensions for treatment of oral candidiasis in infants" fluconazole was shown to be superior to nystatin suspension for the treatment of oral thrush in otherwise healthy infants"

Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity

Post-Graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology (PGCOI), PG in Laser Dentistry, Basic Life Support (B.L.S), MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Gurgaon
Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity
On drinking cold water or a sip of tea or coffee makes you uneasy or eating ice-cream or yoghurt is a nightmare, you may have a common problem known as “sensitive teeth.”

Various causes of sensitivity in teeth include:

1. Forceful brushing of teeth – it is the most common cause of tooth sensitivity. It causes thinning of the protective layer on our teeth that is enamel. Enamel protects our teeth against insult from food or fluids we take. Loss of enamel leads to sensitivity of teeth

Remedy:
• Gentle brushing of teeth
• Use soft bristle brush
• Change brush after 3- 6 months ( as the bristles wear away)
• Use little toothpaste ( toothpaste has abrasive particles which causes
wear away of enamel)
• Do brushing in up-down movement

2. Tooth decay – caries in tooth leads to tooth sensitivity. Caries remove the protective enamel layer exposing dentine layer to food and fluids. Dentine carries nerves which causes sensitivity

Remedy: Treatment involves removal of tooth decay and placement of
protective barrier on dentine that is a filling material

3. Old tooth fillings – over a period of time fillings may crack or break or get removed which leads to sensitivity.

Remedy: Change of filling in tooth

4. Exposed tooth roots- as a result of aggressive tooth brushing, gum recession and gum disease. It causes tooth sensitivity.

Remedy
• Use soft bristle brush
• Visit your dentist for gum disease treatment

5. Plaque and calculus - the purpose of brushing is to remove plaque that forms after eating food. An excessive build-up of plaque can cause your enamel to wear away. Again, your teeth can become more sensitive as they lose their enamel protection.

Remedy: The solution is to practice good daily dental care and visit your
dentist for cleanings every six months.

6. Habit of eating acidic foods -fruits like lemon, sweet lime, pickles and tomato juice contains acid which can dissolve enamel of teeth. Frequent use of acidic food causes tooth sensitivity.

7. Habit of tooth-grinding – grinding also cause tooth sensitivity due to loss of enamel.

Tooth sensitivity is treatable. You must have seen toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. However, toothpaste can only help limited no. of patient’s suffering from tooth sensitivity.

If your sensitivity is extreme and persists no matter what you do, please visit your dentist for an oral examination. Visit to dental specialist can determine the most likely cause of your tooth sensitivity and the best solution for your particular condition. I Hope this article will help you.

Hey doctor I have some problem in my teeth, when I drink some cold water, there is a serious severe in my teeth.

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Hey doctor I have some problem in my teeth, when I drink some cold water, there is a serious severe in my teeth.
This could b either due to sensitivity due to loss of enamel surface or due to decay of tooth. Tooth decay can b treated by filling of tooth or by rct n capping of the decay is deep. Sensitivity can b reduced by using desensitizing toothpaste such as senquelf or sensodyne toothpaste by rubbing some amount of toothpaste onto your tooth surface n wait till 5 mins before rinsing it off. Get your teeth evaluated by dentist to know the cause of your problem n get treated accordingly. Regards.
