I am 19 years old daily I am facing an issue when brushing I have to come vomiting what to I do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

I am 19 years old daily I am facing an issue when brushing I have to come vomiting what to I do.
The vomit sensation you are talking about is known as gag reflex. It is a protective mechanism of the human body to avoid the entrance of any unwanted material down the throat. In your case, you are experiencing the reflex while brushing, that means your brushing pattern might be wrong. You are taking your brush to much deeper areas than required. Also, you might not be cleaning your tongue properly. Visit your dentist and ask him about some correct brushing patterns and start using a tongue cleaner. Whenever you experience gag try to focus on some other activity or object, such as your big toe. It diverts you and thus the gag stops. Avoid mouth breathing, that increases the gag. If the problem persists even after changing your brushing/cleaning pattern and avoiding mouth breathing there is more to it. Pay a visit to both your dentist and gasteroenterologist.

My father is 69 years old and is a chain smoker for almost 50 years now and for the last few days there is white ulcers type of swelling in his mouth on the left side now I am not able to understand what to do please guide me accordingly.

If your father is having white ulcers, they might be signs of pre-cancerous lesions(may be leukoplakia), please advise your father to quit smoking and go for biopsy(microscopic examination in a laboratory ) of those ulcers by a dentist. Dont delay this, go for treatment immediately.

I am 20 year old boy. I have problem with my joint point in my mouth. Whenever I try to open my mouth it sounds a clicking. So what can I do for this problem?

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Minor clicking sounds r common with many individuals. You need to visit an oral n maxillofacial surgeon to get your joint evaluated to know if your degree of clicking is a matter of concern. Meanwhile avoid opening your mouth too much n also control your mouth opening while yawning n support your lower jaws with your palms. Take care.

My 18 month old daughter has got a blackened front tooth. Today we consulted a doctor who advised that tooth is dead now and gums are getting infected. The dead tooth needs to be extracted immediately. We took second opinion from another doctor who confirmed that there is infection but can be treated with root canal. When my daughter was 9 months old we noticed a pinkish tinge on this tooth which gradually kept on darkening and is almost black now. Need help whether we should get the tooth extracted or get root canal done or consult someone else if it can be treated through medicines.

Dear lybrate-user ji, the tooth is dead for sure and is due to some old insult to the tooth which would have gone unnoticed. If the bone is healthy and not mobile, we can save it 100% and an E max laminate or crown can be placed and that shall solve the problem. For more please consult.

Hi , thanks for the query as per your words the pain and difficulty in opening of mouth can be because of erupting or impacted wisdom tooth. For the time being for relief do gargles with warm water + salt and visit your dentist for the treatment . Thank you Dr. Aman Bhatia Chandigarh

Hi Lybrate-user, There are many causes of mouth ulcers which may be - -stress in the body -excess heat - a sharp tooth edge causing injury leading to ulcer -nutritional problems, such as vitamin b 12 deficiency - iron & or folic acid deficiency Treatment remedies for mouth ulcers :- -drink 2-3 liters water per day - avoid hot & spicy foods - take good nutritional foods -reduce stress by stress relieving activities of your choice -you can take b -complex capsules (e. G. Becosules capsule) once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery -apply mouth ulcer gel (e.g. ANABEL -CT / DENTOGEL / DOLOGEL) over affected area It is always advisible to consult a dentist or physician and getting root cause of ulcer checked before jumping to any treatment remedies.
