I was doing my workout from past one month including 3 to 4 km running, 2 sets (20) of ladder up and Down and 1 hour gym session in morning. But from last saturday while doing Squat exercise there is lots of pain going on my lower legs. Below knee. Now I am unable to run not even 1 km. My physical test of running 1.6 km in 6.30 minute is coming next week but due to pain I am unable to run Please suggest something better and how to to increase my running so I complete on time. Thanks in Advance.

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. This type of periscapular pain is very common and could be fibromyalgia. If there is no swelling or any other s/s of inflammation, I would advise you to undergo: - intensive physical therapy for strengthening of your periscapular muscles - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake which is important - a short course of gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can also be initiated along with physical therapy - hot water fomentation at home and application of analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray for local application can be done after fomentation. But your mainstay of management will remain intensive physical therapy, so try to find out a good rehab & physical therapy center at your place. Probably a contusion injury ie. The blood would've oozed & clotted for you to have severe pain. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone.

Make a habit of running every day and increase the speed and duration gradually. Don't run over hard surface.

I am having a ligament injury in my right wrist while playing cricket. I did not paid attention to that and continued to play till that pain is worsened. My age is 45 and now I am having lot of pain even lifting mobile by right hand. X rays show nothing. I had taken ultrasonic treatment also and since last 15 days I had given complete rest to right hand with creep bandage in position.

Hi, take homoeoapthic medicine - ruta g 30/ 3 times a day dailyu and apply rhus tox ointment over the area in soft circular motion and wrap a crepe bandage over it after 1/2 an hour. Avoid movement of the wrist. Revert after 10 days.

Thumb joint pain is the result of the wearing away of cartilage in the bones of the thumb. That’s why it is also known as thumb arthritis. The first sign of arthritis in the thumb is pain, tenderness, and stiffness. You’re most likely to feel it at the base of your thumb as you try to grip or clasp something between the thumb and index finger. You might also feel a pain when you try to apply mild force, such as when you twist a key in a lock, turn a door handle, or snap your fingers. Try to avoid clenching your hands when you carry things—this can aggravate symptoms. You should also avoid repetitive movements that involve pinching or twisting. Apply alternating heat and cold to relieve inflammation and pain. A physical or occupational therapist can teach you how to perform range-of-motion exercises to improve function. A splint can provide temporary support for your thumb and wrist, limiting movement so your joints can rest. The added support may ease pain for a while. It can also help with training your joints back into the correct position. You can wear a splint whenever you feel the need throughout the day, or even while you sleep. Check with your doctor or physical therapist to make sure you’re using the splint correctly. If nothing else works, there are some surgical procedures that may help. Best wishes.

Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Measure your temperature and tell me reading Avoid exertion Take tablet paracetamol 500 mg after food (If No Drug Allergy) as and when required for fever more than 99 f (maximum 3 tablets with gap of 8 hr can be taken in a day) for 3 days Take proper diet homemade food like moong dal dalia, chapati etc Get CBC checked and review with reports consult privately

Hello, I have been diagnosed for facetogenic pain at L4-5 levels in the lower back and due to this I am taking Gabapin sr 600 and tizan 2 mg for the last 3 years or so. However the stiffness has not completely vanished and I find it difficult to stand or sit at one place for more that 10 minutes or so, since thereafter stiffness in Lowe back sets in. I also don't have ankylosing spondylitis. Can you please suggest some low side effect medicine which I can take for a very long period, since I think there is no remedy for this problem except surgery which I am not interested to go for. I also do daily back stretching exercise for some relief.

Hi dear, Facetogenic pain is usually caused due to locking of facet joints in vertebrae or due to some pathology over the part. This condition can be very well treated by Spinal mobilization by certified Manual Therapist. Apart from this regular strengthning​ and stretching of lower back muscles as well as lower limb limb's muscle would also be reliving. Moist heat over lower back for 20-30 min at least twice daily would be beneficial.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are multiple causes of swelling in legs, it can be postural which goes away when you elevate your limbs. But othere causes are multiple which have to be ruled out mainly cardiac causes, deranged lft, kft, low protein levels, hypothyroidism, vascular causes besides many. Diet rich in proteins can be tried but my advice will be to get him investigated to find out a cause. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
