Hi it can be soft tissue injury. For pain take cold water fomentation for 20 minutes thrice a day for 5 days. If still you don't get relief and need further advice, consult me via lybrate.

I am having continuous pain in my left heel. The doctor diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis and recommended cold n hot pack physiotherapy at home with some exercises. But the pain is still there. Please suggest.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello lybrate user, pain above the ankle around the outer side of leg is common after fast running. It is due to spasm of a muscle called as tibialis anterior whose primary role is to pull the foot towards your body at the ankle joint. So after running this movement by the muscle is repeated vigorously causing it to go into spasm and later pain. Thank you.

My wife is 65 years and 70 kg weight is suffering from osteoarthritis in both knees and doctors have advised knee replacement surgery. Recently an orthopaedic doctor started steroid MEDROL 4 MG every alternate day along with some Homeopathic medicines. She has considerable relief in stiffness and pain. Kindly advise whether steroids can be continued. If so how long. What adverse affects can the steroids have. She is already taking medicine NEBISTAR and dytor 5 for her Heart problem.

Hello. I would not suggest steroids for longer duration for knee pain. They would decrease the pain but on longer duration will lead to myriad of problems including osteoporosis and other systemic multi organ problems. We need to look at the x rays and select a long term treatment which can decrease her pain but without side effects.

Hello, There are few lifestyle changes like brisk walking daily, avoid intake of Yoga-Poses: Kalapbhati: This is a very effective form of pranayama. Sit down on the floor in a comfortable cross-legged position. Take a deep breath & then exhale quickly, while making a sound. Always remember while doing Kapalbhati – you have to forcefully and quickly exhale, but slowly and deeply inhale. Continue doing this for 10 times & then release. Ujjayi Pranayam: Sit down on the floor in a cross-legged straight position. Inhale slowly and deeply by both the nostrils. Try to make a hissing sound while you are sucking in the air. After that, stretch your inhale time for a while & then exhale as much as you can without giving any kind of pressure to your other body parts. This type of pranayama is very effective for those suffering from bronchitis, asthma & thyroid. Yoga Nidra (Corpse Pose) also works well in both hypo and hyperthyroidism in reducing stress and calming down. Foods to be avoided in Hypothyroidism: Hypothyroidism causes skin to become dry. Once it is controlled with tsh levels becoming normal, most symptoms will disappear. Carrots and beet root are fine, can be eaten. Only cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts, soy beans and soy containing products and coffee need to be avoided. For pain in joints: Apply Bakson’s Rheum Aid oil gently (2-3 times a day) and take orally Bakson’s Rheum-Aid syrup/ 1 tablespoon thrice daily. Also, increase your dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15min. 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.

I am having lumbar spondylisis. According to mri report there is mild disc pressure on lower nerve. I have been doing exercises as advised by doctor and taking etoshine or ezact 90 tabs as required. Kindly do meditation and yoga. In early morning regularly. Due to lack of oxygen supply you feel headache and tiredness frequently. Dip your hands and legs inside lukeworm water for 15 min regularly for a week and do some free exercises inside lukeworm water. This will be helpful.

No it isnt. Let it be. Surgery doesnt hv side effects , but it can always recurr, so no use. It won't give you any trouble except mild on and off pain. You can get steroid injected in it every 6 months or so, much easier than surgery and it might dispapear with this simple step.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings.
