MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics

Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am a male of 60 years, and I go to office by scooter travelling 35 kms per day on the average. Daily in the early morning I feel tired and I have paid on both the hips. Is it due to ageing or due to gastric problem?

Dear , I am Dr. Saseendar, specialist orthopaedic surgeon from chennai. Is the pain deep in your hip joint region? or is it in your buttocks? have you ever had pain in multiple joints earlier? if the pain is in your hip joint, then it can be due to age related wear and tear of your hip joint, otherwise called osteoarthritis. Kindly get an x ray of your hips and post here.

I have so much pain in legs and feet I also have disk in my bank bone please help me.

Please ask somebody to massage your spinal column from neck down up to sacral bone using both hands ie both thumbs on one side other fingers on other side do only from neck and not from sacral to the neck. You can also use a wooden roller purchased from a acupressure items shop. Try this first. Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Consult after 5 days. Do not do from top to bottom. Wish you cure without medicine.

Hello, there are many causes behind backache *any strain or sprain in the muscles or ligaments of the back during lifting of heavy objects is the main cause of the lower back pain. *sitting in the wrong posture for a very long time is another cause. *people suffering from constipation may also suffer from lower back pain. *sometimes sleeping on wrong type of beds can also cause pain in the back. Follow the tips *take rest or move about once in 1-2 hours in case of working in a constant position. *maintain a good posture while reading or working with computers. *take a high fibre content diet like vegetables, fruits, etc.

Taking medicines without consulting a doctor is not a wise thing to do. Pl do not take such medicines. Drink lots of water. If temperature rises apply ice cold packs on fore head and lower abdomen. Give a sponge. Give 5-6 glasses of fruit juice and one cup og spinach juice every day. Do not give any other food. She should be fine in 4-5 days. In the meantime do consult a doctor if the fever persists.

Actually I want to ask my dad's health issue, As doctor he is attacked with the paralysis stroke but today I found my dad is totally unconscious and continuous saliva draining from his mouth and making a sound like snoozing. Please guide me what may be the problem?

MBBS, Diplomate of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

It seems like he might have a seizure which can be seen after someone has a stroke. Please take him to the hospital asap and have him examined so he can be put on the appropriate medicine. He would also need to get an EEG to rule out seizures.

Sir/madam, my father met with an accident in 2006 and his right knee ligament was cut in that incident.(he used medicine to relief pain at that time) but now due to pain again in right knee he consulted doctor and took MRI. It shows: 1. ACL tear 2. Complex tear of posterior horn of lateral meniscus 3. Effusion in knee joint 4. Minimal fluid collection deep to medial head of gastrocnemius origin. Doctors told to go for surgery, but my father already faced surgery for hernia. And denies for another. He has pain when going on steps. please prescribe any suggestions and measures to be followed to prevent pain and surgery.

It is upto you whether you go for surgery or not. Doctor has suggested you best option. Pain is because of instability due to ligament tear and Meniscus tear. These things do not Heal on their own. Had it been just ligament tear, you could have got relief with physiotherapy. Torn meniscus keeps rubbing on joint surfaces and pain would go on increasing. It also causes damage to cartilage. All modalities directed to reduce pain somehow temporarily will not change meniscus and ligament injury. If you have smell in room because of cat has died behind cupboard, then spraying room freshener will be useful only for some time and again you will get smell. Similar is thing with this injury. Unless you remove cat, smell won't go. Same way unless you operate knee, pain won't go. Choice is yours.
