First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Press the point on the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from toe in the foot 20 times by pressing and releasing with a blunt edge of a pen. Further rotate your foot clockwise and anticlockwise 10 times. Massage your leg with both hands.

Hi I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. I am interested in your detailed history as to what is site of back pain and knee pain, duration and radiation of pain and any associated symptoms if any. You are obviously very low in vitamin d levels and should get it adequately supplemented with medications. I would also advise to start intensive physical therapy aimed at strengthening your back muscles and also knee exercises initially under supervision of a physiotherapist. If you do not improve after adequate physical therapy and supplementation then i will advise you to get relevant x rays and send it across to me for further opinion. Do not hesitate to contact me in case of further queries. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

The shoulder is the most movable joint in the human body. Swelling, damage, or bone changes around the rotator cuff can cause shoulder pain. *here are some tips for helping shoulder pain get better: 1> put ice on the shoulder area for 15 minutes, then leave it off for 15 minutes. Do this 3 to 4 times a day for 2 to 3 days. Wrap the ice in cloth. Do not put ice directly on the skin because this can result in frostbite. 2> rest your shoulder for the next few days. Do not perform any movement which causes pain in the shoulder. 3> slowly return to your regular activities. 4> learn exercises to stretch and strengthen your rotator cuff tendons and shoulder muscles from physiotherapist.

Backache is the commonest ailment. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. My bone density is very less, can it be increased? if yes then how? how can I strengthen my arms?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young and there is no reason for a low bone density. But since you have mentioned it, can you kindly tell me whether you have done proper two site dexa test or is it just being done by a small machine which estimates your bone density by your heels or any one region? also what do you mean by strengthening of arms, is it muscles you want to build then best way is to do regular exercises in gymn, take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as is required and lead a heavy lifestyle, your muscles will build up subsequently. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Nowadays back pain is a very common complaint in young adults. It can be due to various reasons any injury, muscle strain eg-sudden twist while lifting object, bad posture, overuse of muscle or any internal disease like spondylitis, infection etc after looking at your age I can recommend you: precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the intervertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. Physio care: I would recommend you for i-care treatment that is specially for back or neck pain. Rest required but it doesn't mean a complete bed rest. Do not over exert your body. Work take rest and then work so that you do not feel tired and started paining. Treatment- 1. Apply ice directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2. Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. 3. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Ask someone to massage your painful area as massage helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. If you did not understand or have any doubt, please inform. Or alternatively please take advice from a physio as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your back pain.
