I had applied melanocyl lotion twice to a white patch on my skin, but the surrounding skin has turned brown and a bit swollen as if it is burnt. This was applied a week ago. It was itching and red initially but now the skin is brown and not itching. Will thr brown skin heal on it's own and get back the original colour? How long will it take? Is any medication required for treating the brown skin?

You have not applied the lotion properly so it has caused a burn. Donot worry it will heal. But may take 4-6 weeks. Donot apply melanocyl lotion without proper advice from a dermatologist.

I used derobin in my head for growing hair but after I applied it. My skin get burnt nd some of area got red so what should I use to remove that red area. And should I continuously use derobin or stop using it .is it beneficial for growing hair ol not?

Derobin doesn't help in hair growth. It's used in one condition of hairloss for a different reason. This is what happens when you self treat. If the burn is deep, scarring may occur which results in permanent loss of hair. Get your condition assessed by a dermatologist before further complications occur. Of course stop derobin.

How to reduce sunta...
Demelan cream can be used to remove suntan. but the process is slow say it may take 4-6 weeks. You can go for chemical peels for faster results. Also you have to use a good sunscreen on face and hands daily when you are out in the sun.

Dry Skin - How To Treat It?

Dry Skin - How To Treat It?

Dry skin is a condition caused by the lack of moisture in skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are just some of the conditions, which may be caused due to dry skin. Dry skin can also be very uncomfortable. The condition is mostly caused by environmental factors such as exposure to harsh weather conditions or getting soaked in hot water.

People at risk:

  1. Age: People who are older than 40 years of age tend to be more at risk of dry skin than people who are younger than 40 years.
  2. Climate: As mentioned earlier, weather conditions play a pivotal role in causing dry skin. Therefore, people who live in areas where the climate is either very hot or very cold tend to get dry skin more often than people who live in temperate climates. Low humidity is another factor which causes dry skin.
  3. Profession: Some professions, such as nursing or hairstyling requires frequent usage of hot water all through the day, which can also lead to dry skin.
  4. Swimming: Swimming is one of the major causes of dry skin. This is especially true in pools, which have chlorine. This is because chlorine increases the itchiness on your skin.

Treatments:

  1. Lifestyle changes: Usually, lifestyle changes such as avoiding long, hot showers and putting moisturizers are good enough to make sure that dry skin goes away.
  2. Lactic acid: Creams with lactic acid and urea can be prescribed by your doctor, if the dryness of your skin does not go away with moisturizers. These creams are usually over-the-counter medications.
  3. Prescription creams: Prescription creams are given, only when conditions such as dermatitis, psoriasis or ichthyosis are present.
  4. Wet dressing: Wet dressing is given only when dermatitis has set in, as it mostly help in preventing the infection.
  5. Oiling: Oiling your body, especially with fish or flaxseed oil, ensures that your body does not succumb to dry skin.
  6. Hand sanitizer: Avoid using hand sanitizers and harsh handwashes.

Hi, It does not cause such side effects in general. But the only way to confirm it is to stop minoxidil for a week or two. See if your symptoms improve. Discuss with your dermatologist.

Acne management involves control phase which may go on for 5-6 months and further maintenance taking years. You can continue a-ret. All your queries can only be answered by examining you, listening to your treatment history and your expectations from treatment. Discuss with your dermatologist.

Hello Mam, I am suffering from ringworm from about the last 1 year. Took plenty of medicines like cetirizine, anti biotic so many creams, but all in vain. Ringworm is spreading on the body like hell. Kindly help me in the right direction to stop spreading this ringworm.

Ringworm, though a stubborn infection should not take 1 year to subside. You probably have not taken the right treatment for a sufficient length of time. Visit a dermatologist nearby or consult online with pictures.

This is the result of using such harmful creams without consulting a dermatologist. Stop using betnovate and consult a dermatologist. It will take at least one year for your skin to become normal.

Stop application of oils. They worsen your dandruff problem. Depending on your condition and severity, lotions and shampoos can be prescribed. The frequency of their application depends on severity, response and which phase of treatment – clearance/maintenance you are in. Consult a dermatologist and be on regular follow up.
