Dear Lybrate User, Your brother needs to take Homoeopathic NUX VOM 1000, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach. He can also try Homoeopathic Liver Tonic LIV-T (SBL company). Take 20 ml of the aforesaid liver tonic, thrice daily, after meals. Try to drink as much water as you can drink daily. Try to get an uninterrupted sleep of minimum 8 hours.

I am 62 year retired male I got 3 cm malignant tumor in the rectum just above the anal verge. It is localised according to reports of ct and colonoscopy doctors are saying that it is t3n0m0 stage and highly curable. But doctor suggested for a direct surgery i.e apr and if there is a further need of chemoradiation can be taken. So I went for a second opinion and got advised that first I have to take chemoradiation for 35 days after that a rest of 4 weeks and then go for surgery. Now I am confused about what to do adjuvant therapy or neoadjuvant therapy.in both cases a permanent colostomy is advised coz tumor is just above anal verge.

MCh - Surgical Oncology, FEBS - Fellow of European Board of Surgical Oncology
Oncologist, Navi Mumbai
Dear lybrate-user, please DO NOT get your surgery done. FIRST is CHEMORADIATION. Please assess with MRI if sphincter can be preserved. There are ways to prevent your sphincter avoiding permanent stoma. Do not get your APR done unless you receive CHEMORADIATION FIRST. After that MRI to be repeated and reassessed Regards.

HI, My father, aged 68, one month back suffered from gastroenteritis. On the 4th day, he started to complain of low back pain with fever and chills. Almost a month now after showing him to different doctors we hospitalise him and we were informed that his is having sepsis causing kidney dysfunction and pulmonary edema. After 10 days in hospital, he is very weak with haemoglobin at 6.9 and platelet count at 150. He still feels the low back pain - it is felt upon movement, or posture change but not on lying down in one position. He generally complains the pain as being on the back sides under the rib section. His creatinine has come down from 1.4 to 1.31 but doctors say that it could be due to TB though PET scan and biopsy spine is negative. Myeloma is negative as well. Can someone throw some light on what it could be - is it a muscle strain, nerve root pain, kidney infection related pain, IBS infection? Point is he seen Nephrologist, Spine surgeon, Cardiologist, Internal medicine, Neurologist and Pulmunologist but they have mostly cleared him expect for some Kidney infection, and possible Spine TB suspicion. Please note the back pain is mostly being felt around the sides of the low back and not along the spine, it does not even travel along the legs. Also he never had a back pain previously and has always been very active. Please advice.

Please do try isphgula powder 1-2 tsp with a full glass of water for at least 10-15 days before trying anything else. It takes time for this powder to act but is usually the safest, provided you have no stricture (narrowing of intestine) in your chrons disease. Best to meet a gastroenterologist once if in doubt.

Hello. Check your diet. Advice to add more fibrous vegetables, fruits. Reduce ground nut, chick pea, bengal gram. If there is any feeling of fullness drink hot water with fried cumin seeds. Have dhanwantara tablet 2-3tablet for the abdominal distension, nausea (feels to vomit. Safe to take in pregnancy too.

Hair loss due to stomach problem? I have a history of stomach problem but never really cared about it. I think I have indigestion. The stool is not very hard and liquid-y most of the time. I also happen to have acne and major hair loss and thinning of hair. I already have bald patches at the both side of my head. I am only 21 years old. Is it possible that my hair loss is connected to my stomach problem? Can it be solved? Hair loss is the major issue for me more than other problems. I live in Warangal by the way.

Hello Lybrate user, there are many causes of hair fall, like exposure to pollution, prolong stress, chemical content of shampoo, prolong illness like malaria, typhoid, hormonal imbalance (like hypothyroidism), nutrition deficiency etc.; Have protein rich diet like milk, egg, etc. Add more fruits in diet, avoid stress, have enough sleep (7-8 hrs), avoid chemical added shampoo and cosmetic hair oils. Give coconut/almond oil massage to scalp. Take homeopathic treatment for chronic hair fall, acne and stomach upset. It's safe, natural and holistic way of treatment. Medicine is selected on basis of thorough details like medical history, cause, routine, temperament etc. Hence well selected remedy gives complete relief and promotes new hair growth. Message back for homeopathic consultation.

there is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. Topical capsaicin, derived from chili peppers, may help with arthritis, diabetic nerve pain, and other conditions. There's evidence that glucosamine can help relieve moderate to severe pain from osteoarthritis in the knee. Do reply back for private consultation. And detailed treatment plan.
