Hi, The following are some of the natural remedies for cold and cough: - Add a pinch of turmeric and 1/4 tsf of black pepper powder to hot milk and drink it twice a day. - Mix 1 tsf of honey to 1 tsf of basil leaf juice; take it twice a day. - Prepare a decoction by boiling one glass of water containing 1 tsf of coriander powder, 1 tsf of pepper powder and 1/2 tsf of ginger powder; reduce it to quarter glass and take it three times a day. - Apply turmeric paste on the forehead. - Do steam inhalation twice a day by adding 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil to hot water. - Keep 1 grain of crystal salt and 2-3 black pepper in a beetle leaf, roll it and chew it. This relieves cough. Amla is rich in vit. C and vit. C is good for cold. But if you get throat irritation when amla juice is consumed. Avoid it.

If cough is persistent for more than 15 days. He needs to be investigated by a competent PEDIATRICIAN. Please do not give any cough syrup. Instead you can give honey twice a day. It must be kept in mind that most cough are viral in nature thus self limiting and do not require any antibiotics or antitussive. However a child with cough persistent for more than 2 weeks with or without fever need to be examined.

It is possible that you have what is known a allergic Rhinitis. It is not a serious illness but at the most an inconvenience. It is going to stay with you and it's better to accept and adapt than try some weird remedies. Surgery is out of question. Ask your doctor if a nasal spray of local steroid and an anti-allergy medication will help you and get a prescription from him.

I am suffering from dry cough from last 2 and half months and it mostly starts in evening till I sleep. I've tasted for TB as well but it is negative. I've consulted with my family physician several times but no effect and I've noticed I'm having gas problem as well from the days my cough has been started.

Hi lybrate-user, we understand how frustating dry cough can be. Below are a few home remedies to get rid of that irritating dry cough: 1. Gargle - One of the most common remedies is to gargle with warm salt water. Salt water can help ease the discomfort cause by a cough. It will also help treat sore throat through osmosis. 2. Honey – An excellent alternative remedy to treat cough and can be used by both adults and children alike. However, children below 2 years of age shouldn't be given due to the risk of botulism. Honey has analgesic properties that eliminate the mucus and soothes your throat. Honey also has strong anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties, which are effective for relieving sore throat. Honey can be taken by mixing it in warm milk or water. 3. Ginger – It is one of the best natural cures for a cough. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe irritation caused by sore throat. Cut fresh ginger into small pieces, crush it if you like. Add it to a cup of water and bring to a boil. Drink it once it's cooled. Try drinking this herbal solution for at least thrice a day for relief from non-stop coughing, sore throat and even congestion. 4. Turmeric - Turmeric has a therapeutic effect on coughs. Due to its high curcumin content, turmeric is quite effective in treating viral infections like cough and cold. 5. Garlic - Garlic can be on eof the best herbal cures for coughs. The active compound allicin in garlic has anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. Allicin, which is responsible for the pungent odor of garlic, has a number of health benefits. It also boosts the immunity system. Put 2-3 cloves of garlic in a glass of water and boil it. Add a teaspoon of oregano to the mixture. Add some honey once cooled off and drink it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
