Have vit d & calcium levels checkup Avoid sitting on floor crossed leg & squatting position, even try not to climb stairs frequently Do knee isometrics- lie down & keep towel roll under your knee & press it, hold for 5sec then relax, 20 repetitions each knee, twice daily Straight leg raising- raise your leg hold for 5sec then relax, 10 repetitions each leg, twice daily Sit on high surface with your legs hanging on the side, have about 500grams weight tied to your ankle, then move your leg up hold position for 3sec then relax, 10 repetitions each twice daily. Make sure your back should be straight, it should not move backwards or sideways.

I am having severe back pain during travelling. Have used pain killers. No effect. What to do?

Use of pain killers for long is not advised. Take a bus instead of bike. Your back pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc. *Avoid bending forward while working on lap top or for any other work. *Don’t sit continuously working on laptop etc. Get up periodically and move around. *Restrict bike driving as far as possible. *Don’t carry laptop or any load on your shoulder. Carrying very light loads equally with both hands is better *Sit straight so that back bone gets proper support. A dining chair is better than a laid back sofa. *You can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good *Soft bed will not give proper support to your back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. *Get yourself tested whether you have spondylitis problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take Calc fluor 200--once daily in the morning.

Suffering from knee pain. Not comfortable. May be neurological injury or may be else. How to get relief from this.

This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain. The reason why you cannot walk more than an hour is because your muscles have become so weak and it becomes tired very easily. To break that fatigue it is advisable to drink or eat protein and mineral food which would be a reservoir for you to store the energy.

I have pain in my shoulder because of my nerve because of that pain I get headache and all so what is the Medication should I take?

Please do a x-ray of cervical spine first. Ginger can help reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head, thus providing relief from a headache. Mix equal parts of ginger juice and lemon juice. Consume it once or twice a day. Another option is to apply a paste of one teaspoon of dry ginger powder, also called sonth, and two tablespoons of water on the forehead for a few minutes.

I have problem in my knee joints, early morning I am facing lot of pain there suggest me.

Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling.

Sir / Mam Recently my mother catched electric shock. And suddenly fell down and his left shoulder (supported to hand joint) top edge broken. And we consulted the bones specialist doctor and his tolded bone was broken. And his given tablets are frozen AA. Regulax tab weekly 1 calcium tab 500mg. Sir 3 weeks over still his getting pain what I do pls sir. My mother crying what I do pls give suggestion.

Hi, This is Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. If you have a history of high uric acid issues, then you can be a patient with Gout especially the area of foot involved. Uric acid levels can be normal in Acute phase of gout, so right now you need a course of Anti-inflammatory medications, lots of Ice packs and analgesic spray. I had an oblique stable fracture in my 5th metacarpal shaft and it has been a month that I have put on the cast. Before putting on the cast I had a soft plaster done for a week, probably to reduce the swelling. Now my xray on 23rd January says callus formation seen but soft tissue swelling remains. I wanted to ask if it is OK to remove the plaster now or should I keep it for some more time.

A doctor always try to give his best suggestion or advice according to condition of affected part or joint. So after removal of pop cast do some exercise and consult to a expert physio for better re-education of muscles and for a good recovery.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Shoulder pain can be due to multiple reasons, so it can be due to an injury like a soft tissue one, bony injury, tendinitis, bursitis etc if there is no h/o any injury to the affected shoulder and there are no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth etc, my advice to you initially will be: ice packs at home, restriction/modification of physical activity, local analgesic spray for application, gentle anti inflammatory medication which suits you and see how it goes for next 7-10 days. Normally most pains settle down with decrease in inflammation, in the event your pain persists or increases we will have to get some investigations done for further evaluation. I am 35 Years old Male, working in a Back Office Section, My job role is sitting hours together in front of the computer. Nearly 9 hrs I to sit and work. My weight is 88 Kgs, my height 5. 7. I am facing back pain from last 6 months. Please advise me how to reduce my weight. It is not possible for me to do exercises in the morning and in the evening. Please suggest me the weight loss food habits.

10 Days back an auto went through my left foot, no injury but swelling and pain is there always. Approached the orthopedic doctor available in local who advised X-ray and the observation is no fracture including airline. Advised daily twice tabs viz., XYKAA and NAC SR. Intimated that it may take even more than a month to recover fully. Is the diagnosis and treatment is correct. The contents in the tables are only paracetamol and diclofenac only.

I have tennis elbow and golfers elbow in both hands since last 1+ year, I am 34 years old software professional. I am taking on and off ultrasonic physiotherapy, taken laser physiotherapy also in one hand, keep doing exercises and hot fermentation also. Sometimes exercises leads to pain and have to leave exercises, wearing tennis elbow band also. Please advise

Hello this is dr.Vyas u r doing right treatment but precautions are also doing imp role. So dont put heavy weight, rotation movement, do continue physio. U.S.Therapy use ice not hot water, use elbow support or k-tapping. If not get relief then last pain lock injection hydrocortison .
