Respected Sir my child has a 3 year old and his skin of penis is not properly up and down. What can I do?

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ranchi
This is called physiological phimosis and is normal if there is no ballooning of prepuce during micturition. As the baby grows this gets normal. If there is ballooning of prepuce, difficulty in micturition or repeated urinary infection consult your pediatrician as management will be needed in such cases. Regards.

If you are bottle feeding you stop it and give breast milk only. Burp well after each feed and can give Colicaid drops for pain and gas.

Here he is drinking and then rolling and then vomiting. He is not vomiting milk but it's like dahi. Dr. he suggested perinorm 8 drops thrice a day is it safe to give him perinorm as I have read a lot of side effect of perinorm. If not safe then kindly suggest me the substitute for d same.

My baby is 4 month old and as he rolling due to pressure on stomach he is vomiting a lot and his toilet is yellowish ...
This is a normal reflux. Curd like little regurgitation is common while stomach is being pressed. So nothing to worry. We don't prefer perinorm unless there is severe vomits. The signs you mentioned is just a regurgitation. That does not warrant therapy. Do proper burping post feeds. Keep head up position and demoralized prone position for long. Regards.

There is problem regarding food, he don't like any time of spicy food, even if it little spicy because of this I was worried. So give solution of this.

Postgraduate Programme in Pediatric Nutrition, Diploma in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, MRCPCH, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS

If it is a short term problem, check his mouth to see if he has any ulcers in the mouth. If long term problem, give whatever he can tolerate for now and his tolerance to spicy food will increase slowly. There is no nutritional advantage to giving excessively spicy food. Food should be rather balanced based on the intake of cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetable and milk products.

I have 6 month old baby. He has 100 fever. I gave him liquid crocin. Please suggest.
hi Jaya usually fever is considered when body temp rises more than 100.6 F so no need to give crocine before that but if fever is above it than the cause of fever must be evaluated and than should be effectively treated.but in all cased baby must be active playful and feeding well ,

The problem is not with milk but the way you are feeding. Avoid bottle feeding & give milk with katori spoon along with semisolid foods at regulr intervals. Take care of hygeine in feeding, cleaning always. May give antivomiting medicine if needed.

What's foods are benefits for them.
Hi, for kids, always maintain a balanced, healthy and nutritious diet by giving seasonal fruits, salads, good amount of water, milk and milk products, legumes, cerelas, nuts (almonds, cashewnuts, pistachios, peanuts) and encourage him in for participating in physical activities which is a kind of exercise for kids. All these would help in increasing his immunity, maintaining good health. Give him homoeopathic medicine - alfalfa tonic twice a day for 3 months.

Hello Doctors, My son having age of 1 year 2 months and today morning while he tried to walking suddenly he fell down...
If he remained fully conscious and did not vomited or any other symptoms then you should not worry much and just be cautious of any further occurences. You also can give one dose of homoeopathic medicine Arnica montana 200. It is best for removing bad effects of injury.

Is asthalin syrup safe for my 7 months old baby girl? As she is having recurring cold but not suffering from asthma.
Hello lybrate-user. Regards. All the medicines have their side effects. So its benefit versus risk ratio that prescribing doctor considers before prescribing a drug. Hope you have consulted a Doctor and giving asthalin on his advice. One more thing babies are prone to have bronchoconstriction even though they are not asthamatics. Hence asthalin can be useful in those cases. Hope it helps you.

1.Stop using the soap ,cream and oil that you are using for your baby. 2.bring some (20-30) fresh Neem leaves. Wash them with water. Soak these leaves in a bucket of water for whole day. Take out the leaves in morning and make your baby bath with this water for 4-5 days. 3.change her towel and make her wear only cotton clothes. 4.give her curd ,khichdi ,dal to eat .no non veg ,no egg, NO MILK. Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Kids - How to Deal with it ?

MBBS, DNB (Pediatrics), MD - Paediatrics, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Kids - How to Deal with it ?

A child’s tantrums, especially during teens, are quite common. However, there could be some children who could be exhibiting an extreme version of these symptoms. This is known as oppositional defiant disorder.
Children with this disorder become easily irritable, angry, argumentative, defiant and feel vindictive against most elders (parents, teachers, and others). While this is something very common and can be ignored to be a part of teenage tantrums, the issue is when these symptoms do not seem to end. If they persist for beyond 6 months, it is time to worry. These may then begin to interfere with their daily activities including schooling, where they may not be easy for the teacher to manage.

Diagnosis of ODD: With the changing behaviour of teenagers, it is often difficult to pinpoint and say there is ODD. However, some guidelines for diagnosis are listed below. Angry/irritable, argumentative, defiant and vindictive. If these symptoms are seen for more than 6 months with no inducing reason, happens with non-siblings, and is affecting learning and playing, it is highly likely the child has ODD.

These symptoms can occur at home, at school, or in other settings – seen respectively in one, two, or more settings. Some of the symptoms are listed below.

  1. Repeated temper tantrums
  2. Anger bursts, swearing, using obscene language
  3. Extremely argumentative, especially with people in authority (teachers, parents, etc.)
  4. Annoying others and getting annoyed easily
  5. Noncompliance to rules and regulations at school and institutions
  6. Defending one’s mistakes and blaming others for it
  7. These result in poor academic performance, antisocial behavior, substance abuse, and higher suicidal tendencies.

Treatment

Treatment depends on the presenting symptoms, the age of the child, and supportive care available. The child should be able to actively take part in psychotherapy to reap good benefits. It would otherwise be a task with no results.

  1. Psychotherapy will help the child improve its cope and express and control anger. This also improves problem-solving skills.
  2. Cognitive-behavioural therapy tries to mould the behaviour.
  3. If required, the parents also would be involved to improve family’s involvement in the treatment. Caretakers are given special training if required so that they can support in long-term medical care.
  4. The child also needs to be trained for appropriate behaviour under different circumstances.
  5. Rewards for positive behaviour and punishments for negative behaviour are useful ways.

Prevention: Early identification can help in minimizing distress to the family and help in the early arrest of the disease. The family is also taught basic and simple steps which can help in supporting therapy. Early rejection at school and loss of learning, can happen which can be managed with early intervention. A nurturing and supportive family can help manage the child very well. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
