The deep areas of the teeth can only be reached by thoroughly brushing for at least 2 minutes.

I am having swelled gums in lower left 3rd molar region since morning. I feel heavy weighted mandible. But I can chew food properly. There is slight pain and I'm getting headache. Swelling is mostly on buccal side of mandible. I want to know the best treatment for this problem.

Dentist, Kolkata
It's due to erupting 3rd molar! Do warm. Saline. Mouthwash. 3-4 times a day, take mild painkiller. Twice. A day! If pain increase, you needed to in for antibiotics. N go in for dental checkup! please GET A X-RAY DONE OF THAT REGION!

Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing
Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

Dear doctor, I have a cough problem since last 10 years but its not constantly. And I am also facing mouth ulcer its hurt me too much.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
There are so many causes of mouth ulcers like- -stress or tissue injury is thought to be the cause of simple mouth ulcers. -certain foods, including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes and strawberries), can trigger a mouth ulcer. -sometimes a sharp tooth surface also trigger mouth ulcers. -some cases of complex mouth ulcers are caused by an underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems, such as vitamin b-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as coeliac disease and crohn's disease. -when you first quit smoking, you may develop more mouth ulcers than normal, but this is temporary. Usually ulcer heals by itself only within 1 week. You can take becosule capsule' once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery. Temporarily you can apply mucopain gel over ulcer for relief.

The tooth cannot loose calcium..there are some specialized tooth pastes available that help form a layer of hydroxyapatite that helps prevent caries(cavity) formation.

Wait an hour after eating or drinking anything before brushing as then enamel will be softened and you could be brushing away tiny particles.

Yesterday Ifelt a mild pain in my molar but it went away in a couple of minutes, there is no cavity and I am past my wisdom tooth age. Should I see a dentist or let it be.

Along with brushing, it is also very important to clean your tongue to avoid bad breath as well as any fungal infection.

I have broken molar tooth and there is too much pain and it is inflamed. So my question is which drug can be used to relieve pain and inflammation? Does Droxyl 500 and Dicllogesic are appropriate or some other drug is required?

MDS
Dentist, Kolkata
See you can take any painkiller, but it won't totally reduce pain, you need to visit a dentist, get an xray done of the tooth involved and it may have to be removed.

Hi I have white patch line and a yellow patch on my tooth. Respectively on the upper and lower tooth. Can anyone help me how to get white tooth?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

Can Toothaches Be Prevented?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Can Toothaches Be Prevented?

Since most toothaches are the result of tooth decay, following good oral hygiene practices can prevent toothaches.

Good oral hygiene practices consist of brushing regularly with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, flossing once daily, rinsing once or twice a day with an antiseptic mouthwash, and seeing your dentist twice a year for professional cleaning.

In addition to these practices, eat foods low in sugar and ask us about sealants. Sealants are a great solution when it comes to safeguard your teeth.

Ulceration in your case could b due to sharp edges of your broken teeth rubbing against your cheeks. Ulcers generally take upto 2 wks to heal. Since you hv got your broken tooth removed, wait till 2 wks to see if your ulcers heal. If it doesn't you need to visit dentist for its elvaluation who'll recommend further tests. Untill then use dentogel oral ointment on the ulcer thrice daily n use bethadine mouthwash, start on multivitamin tabs too. Take care.

Hello sir, I have dental cavity, how can I solve this problem without visiting doctor. Please guide me.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning and artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I have pain at my right side upper jaw one black dot has formed in my jaw teeth. Please tell me what should i do?

oral implantology, BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
Hi it appears to be a carious tooth. Any carious tooth which causes pain is most likely has deep caries. In most of the cases after making x ray, it is confirmed whether to go for simple filling or root canal treatment. So please visit a dentist near you and get one x ray done first and then go ahead with treatment. If you already have x ray with you, upload the image for better trestment plan.
