My uric acid level is 7.5 and I have pain in joints of my fingers and in my feet.
Please suggest some remedy.
Mr. Lybrate-user, to reduce uric acid, you will have to restrict high purine containing foods like: organ meats, red meat, certain fishes such as sardines, scallops, shell fish, salmon, herrings, haddock, trout, anchovies, mussels, mushrooms. Plus no sweetened aerated drinks, alcohol and high fat milk products. You can take low fat milk products, egg whites, plenty of fruits and vegetables. There are specific drugs used to reduce uric acid called as uricosuric agents which increase the excretion, those can be used.

My son aged 26 suffering from diabetes since last year, sugar level crossing 400 sometimes. Suggest remedies.
5 STEPS FOR PREVENTION OF DIABETES. Tip 1: Get more physical activity There are many benefits to regular physical activity. Exercise can help you: •Lose weight •Lower your blood sugar •Boost your sensitivity to insulin — which helps keep your blood sugar within a normal range •Tip 2: Get plenty of fiber Foods high in fiber include fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Tip 3: Go for whole grains Although it's not clear why, whole grains may reduce your risk of diabetes and help maintain blood sugar levels. Try to make at least half your grains whole grains. Tip 4: Lose extra weight If you're overweight, diabetes prevention may hinge on weight loss. Tip 5: Skip fad diets and just make healthier choices Low-carb diets, the glycemic index diet or other fad diets may help you lose weight at first, but their effectiveness at preventing diabetes isn't known nor are their long-term effects. And by excluding or strictly limiting a particular food group, you may be giving up essential nutrients.

Please Give names of diabetes type 1 tablets in allopathic. My range is fasting 189 PP 297.
Hello, If the person has T1 diabetes, then the only treatment is taking Insulin injections for lifetime. There are no oral drugs available. The reason being in these persons there is No Insulin production by Beta ells of pancreas. Since Insulin is needed for glucose, protein and fat metabolism constantly, then it has to be supplemented every day from outside. So it is said in Type 1 DM Insulin is needed for treatment and for survival of the patient. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, insulin is a hormone produced by beta cells of islets of langerhans in the pancreas. So taking insulin is absolutely safe, it does not produce any harmful effect on any of the vital organs. In diabetes either there is lack of insulin or resistance its action or both, particularly in t2 diabetes. In t1 it is totally absent, so those patients have to take insulin for whole life dor survival as well as for blood sugar control.

My mother is a diabetic patient. She has lot of irritation under his feet at night. Is diabetes is responsible for this?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

My mother is a diabetic patient. She has lot of irritation under his feet at night. Is diabetes is responsible for this?
The irritation on the sole, is most often part of the peripheral neuropathy, where symptoms noticed are tingling, numbness and burning sensation. Tight sugar control is the primary need, plus if symptoms are unbearable then there are certain drugs used to control the pain. She should take real good care of her foot, use comfortable foot wear, avoid any injury to the foot. Keep web spaces between toes clean and dry. Thanks for the question.

It depends on how much quantity of protein you taking in entire day from supplements as well as diet. Excess protein can harm your body in many ways. But if you are taking in desired quantities and under expert guidance, protein supplements will not harm you.
